  1. This is about as much as the Brewers could have hoped for from Greinke so far tonight. Should be plenty of interest. Great news.
  2. I'm in the group who would throw a party if they just got someone to take that contract, much less actually got something of value back.
  3. Why not? Roenicke probably hopes they keep Greinke because he cares more about wins.
  4. Wow, you're right. Good catch. Only thing I can think of is the ump called that wild pitch a swing, although I didn't see any indication of that.
  5. None of those prospects are as quality as Olt, though. That's a nice return, but it's quantity over Texas' quality if they could manage to get Olt.
  6. Nobody will trade for Greinke until they see him pitch, so there's no sense in worrying about any deadline until after tomorrow anyway.
  7. I would have been very happy with this haul for Greinke.
  8. Sure, but why would he sign that when he'll be able to get $120 mil+ guaranteed?
  9. Really not at all comfortable with the Brewers paying any pitcher $112 million, and I really like Greinke. It's just too much of a risk for a team with their payroll capacity. The Cain extension ruined the chance of keeping Greinke. The best thing that could happen now for the Brewers is to pull off a nice trade.
  10. Now Rosenthal is speculating that interest on Greinke is cooling because of skipping his start. The Brewers better hope Greinke comes back and looks great, otherwise this would be a disaster.
  11. I haven't seen many say they should give up Olt. Just people hoping they would. HiAndTight, now it's "not the least bit difficult" to see them getting in? I can't say I agree with that at all. It's possible, but it's definitely "difficult" for me to see it. My contention is that missing the playoffs and getting compensated with only one sandwich pick for Greinke would be crushing for the team's future prospects. Upside to holding on to Greinke: 10-12% shot at the playoffs Downside to holding on to Greinke: Only ONE sandwich pick for something that could have greatly bolstered the farm system. And before someone points out that a possible upside to holding on to Greinke is re-signing him, I don't consider that an upside. Either they won't re-sign him, or it will be for so much that it will be a contract that is detrimental to the team. They have to trade him.
  12. No almost about it for me. I told myself before this stretch that unless they went 8-1 or 9-0, I absolutely want them selling. I'm rooting against them to protect the FO from themselves.
  13. What would really be nice is if Philly signed Hamels. Then teams who want an elite guy would need to focus on Greinke.
  14. It really won't make much difference. K-Rod has been just as bad overall this season. Only benefit to that is if he has a couple successful saves, the Brewers might be able to trade him for something. The Brewers will be better off next season if Axford ends this year with success as the closer. They aren't going anywhere this year anyway, so they might as well do what they can to try to straighten him out before next season.
  15. Those 2 draft picks will be nice. I think everyone is way overreacting here. Until there is actual news about him being hurt this is almost a complete non-story. They can get players who are FAR more advanced than either they'll draft with a first (our maybe a second... Remember CC?) and a sandwich pick. Considering how they've drafted recently, I would much, much rather have a trade package.
  16. Crippling. Franchise killer if they can't get anything for him.
  17. But the word was he isn't scheduled for the Reds series either. It's not just pushing him back a day.
  18. This doesn't add up to me. All they've been talking about is how important this stretch is. If he just needed some rest, why not wait until after this stretch? I'm guessing the baseball gods hate us and he's hurt.
  19. Really hope it's that and not an injury. Would be awful timing.
  20. Yeah, that was a head-scratcher. That was a great deal for the Brewers. The second one was a great deal for Braun.
  21. So awesome for Sheets. Really excited for him. Go Braves.
  22. When he declines the 100 mil offer, if he hasn't already, trade him. I'm not comfortable giving a pitcher any more than that, even one as good as Greinke. Even if the Brewers get back in the race after this nine game stretch, which would basically mean winning the next six, I'd still trade Greinke. There's too good of an opportunity to pass up just to take an outside shot at the postseason.
