  1. Crazy haul for Chicago. Just goes to show pitching is king. We thought Lucroy might bring in blue chips, but his value was nowhere near this.
  2. Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but doesn't Braun get to re-select the teams in his NTC each season? Does anyone know when that happens? I'm just wondering if those teams could change.
  3. Stunning that someone could feel this strongly either way about this. I'm assuming the length is what got him out of Korea. If he ends up a league average first baseman, it's a home run. If he doesn't, they've lost the salary to pay a 4th reliever or something. The key part is they gave up nothing but money to get him. I don't love it either, but I like it a lot more than paying a 1< WAR first baseman $10 million this year. That's lighting money on fire a lot more than this is.
  4. Gennett is a DFA candidate. I wouldn't expect to get anything of real value for him.
  5. Anyone who watched the last two WS games and didn't think they were great probably just isn't a baseball fan. Sure there are longer pitch sequences, more changes, etc., but that's only because the ramifications of each pitch are so much greater than during the regular season. Those just add more drama/tension anyway. This has been the best World Series in some time. Manfred keeps trying to fix things that aren't broken.
  6. I don't expect it because I haven't seen much traction on it anywhere else, but I would love to see the division-heavy scheduling evened out some. We don't need ten series against the Reds or whatever it is. Hoping for an international draft but not holding my breath there either.
  7. Are prospects even eligible for an expansion draft? It seems like it would be unfair to allow an expansion team to take top prospects/force teams to use up their protections for players who aren't even on their MLB roster.
  8. That trade with the Cubs sounds good to me, but that's only one option out of many they'll have. I expect this off-season that Gennett will be dealt, Villar will move over to second, and Perez will be the regular third baseman. That's likely just a stopgap solution. I think everyone is pretty excited about Erceg, but like you said, he's a ways away from the big leagues yet, and that's assuming things continue going well for him. The other thing is that the Brewers don't need to have a great prospect or two for every position on the field. A couple things can happen: one of the shortstops they're collecting could slide over to third at some point. We are seeing this trend with a lot of teams in the last couple seasons. The Brewers even did it with Villar this year. The other thing is the Brewers could simple fill the 3B void in free agency. It's maybe not ideal, but it could be an answer.
  9. I'm really not happy about this. Why start his clock now? He is leaving plenty to be desired at AAA. This feels like a move to appease casual fans after trading Lucroy.
  10. 1. Orlando Arcia 2. Josh Hader 3. Lewis Brinson 4. Trent Clark 5. Phil Bickford 6. Luis Ortiz 7. Brett Phillips 8. Isan Diaz 9. Corey Ray 10. Gilbert Lara 11. Cody Ponce 12. Lucas Erceg 13. Marcos Diplan 14. Devin Williams 15. Brandon Woodruff 16. Kodi Medeiros 17. Monte Harrison 18. Jorge Lopez 19. Tyrone Taylor 20. Jacob Nottingham 21. Demi Orimoloye 22. Jacob Gatewood 23. Michael Reed 24. Miguel Diaz 25. Nathan Kirby 26. Freddy Peralta 27. Corbin Burnes
  11. Behind who? Ortiz is more likely to start and has a higher ceiling than Hader. Hader is further along, but that is about it. Who is the second? Bickford? Another guy questionable to start? I'd rank them: 1. Hader 2. Bickford 3. Ortiz I think Hader has the highest ceiling. Love the strikeout potential.
  12. Not saying I'd prefer Gallo or Brinson (not sure, frankly), but people complaining about Gallo's performance are sure overlooking Brinson's awful season.
  13. In response to Law, I'd definitely say Ortiz is their number 3 pitching prospect, not number 1.
  14. With everyone (understandably) discussing the bigger trade, I want to just say again that this is an amazing deal.
  15. The PTBNL makes this more palatable. Definitely a good day overall for Stearns. Making a top ten Brewers prospect list will be impossible, which is a great problem.
  16. I still prefer the Cleveland deal, assuming the ptbnl is a lottery ticket type. I probably like Mejia better than either of these guys, and I think Stearns did, too. And the other two players from Cleveland were solid.
  17. Brinson has had a bad year. Ortiz has a bad body. There is definitely risk here. Would have been better off trading Jeffress separately and holding on to Lucroy until the off-season, I think.
  18. http://s2.quickmeme.com/img/24/24f987455cb45e3fcc728467f4c673ddc07c24f85a2cecf42ab4c8d31b7246c1.jpg
  19. Texas saw what they just got for Smith. If they want Lucroy, Guerra and Jeffress, it's going to clean them out.
  20. I can't believe how quiet it is right now. I really wonder if they will just not make any trades. Crazy.
