    I know things have been bizarre again this deadline for the Brewers, but it really is amazing to me that they haven't made one trade yet. Feels like a blockbuster with the Rangers or possibly nothing at all.

    Don't expect Gallo. The market hasn't been there. Probably only chance is if Jeffress is included, and even then it's just a chance.

    The point is they love Mejia. He's their big piece. Best individual player they could get from any team most likely.

    Some scorching hot takes in this thread. 1) Stearns pretty clearly valued Mejia on the same level as Frazier/Zimmer. Fine by me that he has his own valuations instead of blindly following Baseball America. 2) Miller is not a "lesser talent" than Lucroy. 3) Miller is under contract a year longer than Lucroy. 4) The demand was higher for Miller than Lucroy. Some contenders had a catcher in place. Every contender would have room in their bullpen for Miller.

    If they give up nothing more than a decent prospect, it could be worth it. He was pretty good the last couple years before falling off a cliff. Good buy low candidate, and if he has a good season next year he could be flipped. Not a bad idea to look into it at least.

    If this report is right, who on Earth was the "significant piece" that was reportedly on the table the other day? This offer is a nightmare.

    This is nauseating to think about. They had better not accept anything close to what's being reported.

    No sane GM would claim that. Or if he did, he'd watch another team take Lucroy from him if he tried to use that to lower the asking price. And if you're demanding Mazara from Texas, you won't be trading with Texas.

    Bryce Harper was a can't miss prospect. There are currently no can't miss prospects in the minors. That's why you take a package of 3-5 or more, because there are more chances that one hits.

    It would definitely set the franchise back if he plays out his contract. This will most likely be their best chance to infuse the system with top talent for the next couple years at least. If they really hit on this trade, it would be a big part of their next contending team.

    Also, with the idea that d'Arnaud should improve his numbers at Miller Park and could be flipped: he's just as likely to be moved off catcher due to concussions/injury. Guy is hurt all the time.

    Look I understand that. It would just be disappointing if the best package they could get was headlined by a player who doesn't fill a need.
