  1. This presale is way later than the other presales. NLCS presale was same day as Game 1 of the NLDS. Getting kinda antsy.
  2. If this is true, that is awesome. This is the article, in case anyone subscribes to The Athletic: https://theathletic.com/584925/2018/10/12/i-owe-him-a-lot-a-conversation-with-christian-yelich-highlights-reasons-for-orlando-arcias-resurgence/
  3. There was an article for The Athletic where Arcia said Yelich helped him with his swing and he credits his recent success over the past couple months to him. I'm not a subscriber so I didn't see the details but interesting nonetheless. All year Arcia looked like a guy who couldn't hit in AA let alone the big leagues, but it's really nice to see him driving the ball again and making solid contact on a more regular basis. Arcia with a .700 OPS even would be great next year.
  4. Guessing: Cain Yelich Braun Aguilar Perez Moustakas Pina Arcia Gonzalez For someone who said wondering why not start with Woodruff, I'm guessing it makes more sense to start with the softer throwing guy, get guys used to seeing that, then bring the heat for the 2nd time through the order.
  5. Based on the smile, looks like he thought he got all of that one. Maybe he did and the wind brought it in, but didn't look like more than a fly out.
  6. I'd go: Cain Yelich Braun Shaw Aguilar Moustakas Kratz Arcia Chacin I'm assuming Braun starts every game.
  7. I still haven't received my refund either. On a side note, I was tracking stubhub from 2:45 until 3:00 on Saturday when tickets went down. Someone mega-panicked and listed section 121 row 8 tickets for like 85 apiece. They were snatched up immediately, heck I could see someone in the stadium buying them just for the upgrade value. There are deals to be had if you wait until the very last second and get lucky, that's risky though. Refunds were "issued" on Wednesday 10/10, but it said to allow 3-5 business days to appear on your card, so hopefully by this Wednesday we will get our refunds for WC Game and NLDS Game 5.
  8. Glad they pulled Miley there. If he gives up a hit to Turner, then it's Burnes against Muncy with Machado on deck and 2 guys on. Could get out of hand quickly.
  9. Dude on TV just said they should bench Justin Turner after yesterday. I wish he was managing the Dodgers....
  10. This level of bullpenning isn't sustainable for a full season, but with expanded rosters in September and built in off days in October, I think it's hard to reasonably argue that this isn't an optimal approach for non-ace pitchers with a solid bullpen. Also this is exactly how the Cardinals won the World Series 7 years ago, so not only has this been done before, it's not even that new of a concept.
  11. I do think the same plan will be in place today, which is no more than once through the order for any pitcher. The only exception would be if Miley goes like 9 up 9 down to start the game, but even when Woodruff did that in NLDS Game 1 they still pulled him. Probably Miley for 2-3, Burnes for 2-3, if you can get to the 7th doing that, then you can go Soria/Knebel/Jeffress. If not, Guerra/Peralta could go an inning or 2. If Brewers can get early leads in these games, that'll go a long way and really force the Dodgers to make tough choices. Not having Hader today is going to be tough, which makes it all the more important that we won Game 1. Winning today would REALLY put the pressure on the Dodgers though, and I like our chances. Let's Go!!!!!
  12. Riding the hot bat I guess. Perez gets the start at 2B Cain Yelich Braun Aguilar Perez Moutakas Pina Arcia Gonzalez
  13. Pina has caught all 5 games that Gonzalez has pitched, so it'll be him and not Kratz. Perez/Schoop are both hitless career against Kershaw (Perez 0-5, Schoop 0-3), I'm guessing they go with Schoop unless they just want to get Shaw in there regardless (Shaw is 0-2 with a BB against Kershaw).
  14. Really hoping they don't drop it from 4 to 2 for SSH. Definitely already made plans to buy 4 tix/game, so some people I promised tickets to will be disappointed.
  15. The POBO thing is so weird to me. Arnold would be GM, but how much extra responsibility would he realistically have? What would Stearns be doing as POBO that he's not doing now, same with Arnold? And if it's just a title and commensurate pay bump, I see that working for Stearns but why would Arnold want to be called a GM without any of the actual power of a GM?
  16. Anyone know when the presale will be for World Series tickets?
  17. Looks like that site hasn't been updated for 2018 options used yet.
  18. I have added the link to the first post of this thread, but still think it would be of value to continue updating this thread. That page may also be slightly inaccurate. Barnes definitely only has 1 option remaining after this year, and it looks like other players who have burned an option this year have been updated but not him. Plus it may be nice just to have a log of when minor league options are burned.
  19. I'd probably change the NLDS roster as minimally as possible. Just focus on the needs against the Dodgers that aren't currently being fulfilled. Situational lefty: Add Cedeno Initial Out Getter with great numbers against the Dodgers: Add Davies Counsell said pre-NLDS that he really wished he could've had Cedeno on the roster. He also said Peralta was on there because of previous success against the Rockies and even then he didn't pitch in the series (I know he was being held back if possible for game 4, but still). For a 7-game series, I don't think they'll want to go with less than 12 pitchers, particularly if some of the IOG's don't go very deep, so in order to add Davies they'll need to remove a position player. Infield seems pretty thin without Schoop, so you're probably looking at one of Santana/Broxton/Granderson. They all have a niche: Santana: Best righty power bat off the bench. Won't play defense unless absolutely necessary. Broxton: Great defensive replacement, fastest player on team, good power bat, hit a homer in NLDS. Granderson: Decent defense in outfield, only lefty non-starter off bench. Given the Dodgers' lefty-heavy rotation (Kershaw/Hill/Ryu), I'm not sure how valuable Granderson is off the bench, as most games we will probably have either Shaw our Moustakas out of the starting lineup. I'm not saying Granderson wouldn't have value but for this particular series, I think he might just be the 26th guy I'd want on the 25-man roster. So to sum it up: + Davies, Cedeno - Peralta, Granderson
  20. This is Chase's 5th big league season, so I believe he can no longer be optioned in 2019 without his consent (the rules say a "big league season" is at least 90 days on the active roster). I also wouldn't be surprised if his contract extension included a clause that said he can no longer be optioned without his consent but stuff like that is rarely made public so that's just speculation. Agreed that based on my calculations, Guerra/Davies preserved their options by spending less than 20 days in the minors this season (hence no asterisks next to either name). Nelson should be "optionable" because he doesn't have a complete 5 years of service time yet. Stearns has certainly done a good job of acquiring talent that he can shuffle off to the minors in case the worst happens and they start sucking again. I think that deal with Anderson was a nice hedge too with the 2 option years rather than committing to him for the long haul. I still think Anderson could bounce back and be very good though.
  21. Based on service time, I believe. Pretty sure when we acquired Brad Miller he was like a day away from have enough service time that he couldn't be sent down or something like that. Right you are: "Any player with fewer than five years of Major League service time and an option year remaining can be optioned to the Minor Leagues. Players with more than five years of service time must consent to being optioned." This is slightly different from what I meant though, which is that even though, say, Matt Albers needs to give consent to being optioned, he can still be optioned without risking losing him to another organization as long as he consents. For, say, Jesus Aguilar, even if he consents, we have to place him on waivers and designate him for assignment to send him to the minors, and thus lose him to another organization. So I think the numbers listed are still slightly relevant, even with the asterisk, even though most guys with that much service time are highly unlikely to be optioned but I'm sure it happens from time to time.
