  1. I'm going to give him a break because hes nervous but he has to throw strikes. Big arm no doubt but control issues will kill any chances at success.
  2. Off of what are we basing Hiura being a "star offensive player?" I guess he had a nice half season while striking out 35% of the time but so have over half of major league ball players. Personally, I need more of a sample size before I'm going that far. Hiura has elite bat speed and was very good for us last year. He can definitely be a star offensive player.
  3. If Yelich isn't hitting at an MVP level and Hiura continues to strike out at this rate this offense will be one of the worst in baseball. We know that Sogard and Smoak can't get it done but our star offensive players have both been terrible.
  4. See, that's a good reason to make a change. Systematic failure. This is a good point. That said most of these guys don't have a track record of being that good. The only ones who do are Braun and Yelich and Braun is at the end. Not saying Haines isn't the problem but it's not like he's working with a ton of high level talent in my opinion. Hiura is a high level talent and he is regressing. Narvaez was one of the best hitting catchers in baseball the last couple of years and he has regressed as well.
  5. Coming into the year I thought Gyorko would get more playing time than he has, should’ve known better I guess. He was the one signing I thought had some upside.
  6. Unless Narvaez is putting up big time numbers he needs to sit and let Pina play. At least with Manny you know the defense will be stellar.
  7. I never said it was a meaningless position. But it seems like fans tend to give the position a level of importance that just isn't viable. Hitting coaches and pitching coaches are always scapegoats. That's why there is so much turnover in those roles across MLB. The offense has underachieved since he has been here. To be just about league average with Yelich at an MVP level as well as Hiura, Grandal, Moustakas, Cain, and Braun is pretty unacceptable. This is not just about the season so far but the job Haines has not done since being hired.
  8. Bottom line with Burnes is he has top of the rotation ability and it will be an organizational failure if we can't get it out of him.
  9. What is a new coach going to do? "Hey, all you guys with mediocre (at best) track records... go hit better..!" I've always thought that blaming the hitting coach is kind of a empty scapegoat. These guys are professional athletes. People said the same thing about Darnell Coles before he was let go. If the hitting coach is a meaningless position save the money and don't have one because Haines adds nothing of value to this franchise.
  10. What is a new coach going to do? "Hey, all you guys with mediocre (at best) track records... go hit better..!" A new voice can help and we can't downgrade from the clueless guy we have now.
  11. We were basically a league average offense with Yelich being the best hitter in baseball last season. Between him and Hiura struggling and the vast majority of the other guys just being bad hitters we are as bad as any offense in the game.
  12. This is no the first time that Cubs/Yankees deal has been brought up as a comp for Hader, and it likely won't be the last. But even though Chapman went to the Cubs, pitched great, and likely won them the World Series, that deal continues to be widely panned as a terrible overpay. That was a case of a stacked team desperately needing a closer dealing with another typically stacked team that was having a down season. It was a perfect storm scenario that likely won't be repeated anytime soon. Basically, if you are holding out for a Torres-type prospect, get used to seeing Hader on this team, because he isn't going anywhere. Not that there's anything wrong with that. With all the time we have before Hader is a free agent there is no reason to trade him unless we are getting a potential star or two in the deal. Bullpens are more important than ever before and Hader is the best in the game. Unless we are getting Gavin Lux or someone of that caliber as the headliner we will just keep the best relief pitcher in baseball. If Hader is to be traded it must be for quality over quantity. We should have no interest in a 3 or 4 for 1 deal where the guys we get back are mediocre talents. A team like the Dodgers who is desperate to win and can easily replace Lux makes a ton of sense and I don't see Stearns making a deal of this magnitude without getting a player like that in return.
  13. The more I think about it we should only move Hader if the package coming back is tremendous. Half a season of Chapman netted Gleybor Torres and unless we are getting a can't miss guy like that we aren't trading Hader. The offers I see fans coming up with are medicore at best. Unless a Gavin Lux or some other prospect of that caliber is coming back Stearns won't trade Hader. The way we use the bullpen Hader is just too important to move as long as we see ourselves as contenders. When you trade a star for quantity over star quality you end up like the Marlins did when they gave us Yelich and didn't get one sure fire star in return. If the best we can do is Dominic Smith or Nolan Jones as the headliner I see no reason to do a deal. To trade Hader we have to get back a top 10 or so prospect in the game along with a few other useful pieces.
  14. He is just the latest in a long line of Brewers starters with below average stuff that nibble and walk a ton of guys. He can go along with Anderson and let Burnes and Peralta start.
