  1. Based on 30 at bats??? He’s a career .270 hitter with good power and above average defense. He’s the best option we have in CF with Cain opting out. He’s played really well defensively this year. But yea, we should prolly freak out over the 30 AB. Garcia is 29 and has had one good season, a couple of decent seasons, and a few pretty bad ones. At his best he’s nothing special, and he has looked pretty ordinary so far. He isn't worth 10 million a season especially for a team with limited resources.
  2. At least these signings were pretty much all one year deals with an option besides Garcia who was only two.
  3. Third base is understandable since there were no good options without paying someone big. First base was deciding to dump Thames, a contributor and popular player, in order to save $2M. Dumping Thames was one of the weirdest moves of the offseason. He was a great lefty bat at 1B. I’m guessing they wanted a righty bat and opted for Smoak (who doesn’t have a terrible track record) to replace the lefty Thames at a similar cost? Cory Hart was actually a legit replacement for Fielder...and then he got hurt. I think it was just a matter of cutting costs and they were looking to save a few million at every position possible.
  4. Other than Hiura they are too focused on up the middle athletes who don't profile well with the bat.

  6. Taking a flier on a Smoak or Morrison is to be expected with a small market team but you just cannot have 4 or 5 of these type of guys starting everyday. With limited financial resources we need to do a better job drafting hitters so we don't have to rely on journeyman every offseason to fill holes.
  7. I wish the Brewers could find a top flight pitching coach like whoever this guy is that the Reds have.
  8. I believe most people were not happy with the way the offseason went so its not exactly surprising to see us doing so poorly.
  9. Narvaez better hit a ton to make up for his defense which is terrible.
  10. This is not a good roster and only the Pirates have a worse roster in the division.
  11. Garcia was a waste of 10 million per season.
