  1. The only way I am moving Hader is if we get an elite prospect like Lux as part of the deal. Hader should have more value than any reliever that has ever been traded when you factor in the years of control and how much relievers are valued in today’s game. The Dodgers have to be feeling a real sense of urgency to win it all and they desperately need Hader in that pursuit. They have Seager so they can move Lux and not really feel it. Clearly they don’t trust Jansen and Hader just fits what they need. They tried trading for Vazquez so they clearly know that a big time bullpen arm is needed. The way I look at it is we are in a no lose situation. If we are offered a great package led by Lux we make the deal. If the offers are quantity over quality we keep Hader who is the best reliever in baseball.
  2. I think one of these teams that falls short this year especially if its LA again is going to be desperate enough to give what it takes to get Hader. To me that means a super elite every day prospect like Lux may just be in play and its the only way I am moving Hader. I am actually higher on our pitching situation than I am on our lineup and would be more than happy to get Lux in a deal for Hader. We are probably losing Grandal and possibly Moose so offense is going to have to be a priority. Fact is our lineup didn't produce nearly enough for a team that had Yelich, Hiura, Grandal, and Moustakas so getting someone like Lux would be a big help. If we aren't receiving a super elite prospect we should just hold on to Hader. If a rental reliever was able to get a prospect like Gleybor Torres in a deal I don't see why we can't possibly get Lux for Hader if they fall short again. If it turns out that Hader doesn't have that type of value we still have an elite reliever for the long term which isn't a bad outcome at all.
  3. Moving Hader in a deal for a package centered around Gavin Lux who would solve our shortstop issues is hardly giving up our chances to win a championship.
  4. If we are moving Hader to the Dodgers Gavin Lux is a must get. If they fall short yet again they may just be desperate enough to make that deal. If we can't get elite talent back we shouldnt move Hader.
  5. I still believe that we should move Hader but that has very little to do with not believing in Josh. I still think that he is the best reliever in the game but he is still just a reliever and teams are more willing than ever to overpay for bullpen arms. I would only move him for a great package and I think that package will be out there from one of the desperate large market teams like LA or Houston especially if they fail to win it all. If we can get elite young in return I would do it and if that package doesn't present itself we still have Hader which is still a pretty great thing. I would be less willing to move him if our system wasn't in shambles with little to no top of the line prospects but we do need to replenish the system and Hader is probably the best way to do that.
  6. Should have just kept in Gio he was sure pitching well.
  7. Not a good decision at all to pull Gio. Counsell is insane yanking his starters so early every night.
  8. My issue with the bullpen management is that he is way too quick to pull his starters when they are pitching well. Counsell has way too much trust in the bullpen when they have been terrible all year.
  9. How about we stop yanking starters so early when they are pitching at least decently. It’s foolish to rely on this pen for 4 plus innings nearly every night. This isn’t even about last nights game; we consistently pull our starters too early for a bullpen that is quite frankly terrible other than Hader.
  10. No I am not looking to replace our GM but I would be lying if I didn’t say that I have lost a lot of confidence in him. Since last season ended he has done what I consider to be a very poor job. To me it all started going downhill when he let Derek Johnson and to a lesser extent Lee Tunnel go. The job that Johnson did with a less than stellar staff was nothing short of incredible and letting him go over money or just not valuing him enough was a decision that hurt way more than most will admit. The new hitting coach Haines has also looked like another disastrous hire as the offense once again can’t seem to ever get a hit with RISP. If it were up to me I would fire Hook and Haines and if we’re being honest would hire Derek Johnson to replace Counsell. Now on to the personnel moves. Moustakas worked out as well as Grandal at least offensively (I think his defense and handling the staff has negated all of his offense). Going with Burnes and Peralta didn’t bother me since we need to develop young starters if we are going to win consistently but leaving them in the hands of Hook was a huge mistake. Another issue has been this ridiculous over reliance on left handed bats. It has been obvious for quite a while that we don’t have a balanced lineup when facing lefties and almost every game we are using lefty pinch hitters against lefty relievers when we need a big hit. How can Stearns not see that we need more righty bats. Lastly and this is a big one. Why is our farm system so barren. The GM has been here long enough to be judged on the scouting and development and so far he doesn’t look to be much better in that department than the previous staff which was awful. In summation Stearns has done a very poor job this season and we all better hope that this is just a roadblock and not a trend.
  11. Maybe we would have made a move for him if he hit lefthanded since Stearns seems to hate right handed hitters.
  12. If we make either of these deals we should start looking for another general manager because anyone that would sign off on either of them is inept.
  13. No we cannot and should not trade the best hitter this organization has drafted in the last decade.
  14. I am disappointed but not that surprised with the way this season has gone. My far deeper concern is where we go after this season. With little talent on the way I would try to move Hader and would even consider trading Yelich if someone is willing to give us a huge return. Such a waste to basically be an average team with a player like Yelich yet here we are. When you consider our run differential and most likely losing either Moustakas or Grandal and possibly both I see a lot to be pessimistic about. Stearns is going to have a lot to prove moving forward and we all better hope he is up to the challenge.
  15. How can anyone watch this team and see a true contender. We are in this race all due to the division and league being weak.
  16. Counsell made a big mistake hitting Moustakas after Yelich. If Hiura was hitting in that spot Yelich wouldn’t have been intentionally walked.
  17. Does Haines not teach these guys plate discipline?? They swing at more first pitches with runners in scoring position then any team I have ever seen. Such an important AB and you first pitch swing?? Really?? At least it takes 3 pitches to strike out, that would have even been better. Plate discipline as a whole is not this teams issue as we take a lot of walks. The problem is we don’t have enough guys that hit for a high enough average and we are way too lefthanded.
  18. The biggest disappointment for me this season is the performance of David Stearns. I came into the season thinking he could do no wrong and now I question whether or not he will ever win us a World Series. The minor leagues is in shambles and most of his moves this season have been terrible.
  19. Are they the third or fourth best staff in baseball which is what their team ERA says it is. When you throw in what ballpark they play in its even more impressive. Meanwhile we have most of the same staff as last year and we can't get anyone out.
  20. You are ignoring the fact that he has lifted the pitching staffs on two different teams. I will never understand how some just underestimate the loss of Johnson and the obvious downgrade to Hook.
  21. The actual guys throwing the ball don't get any of the blame? If its all on the pitchers why even hire a pitching coach at all. Of course the pitchers take a ton of the blame for their poor performance but you can't ignore that this pitching staff has gotten much worse under Hook and that Cincy has gotten much better under Johnson. You can't actually think that they have the 3rd of 4th best staff in MLB because thats where their team ERA sits while we get bombed nearly every night.
  22. The change in pitching coaches is the biggest reason why we aren't making the playoffs. Stearns screwed up big time letting Johnson leave. I wish we would bring back Johnson to replace Counsell; not that I hate Counsell but Johnson meant more to this team than the rest of the coaching staff combined and 3/4 of the roster.
