  1. If we miss the playoffs the culprit will be Stearns in season moves. He had a great offseason with the Cain and Yelich moves but his in season moves have pretty much all been awful. He ruined the defense which was top notch and didn't add a starting pitcher.
  2. I don't care if Arcia doesn't hit much he should play everyday.
  3. How many times does this team score a bunch early and then shut it down offensively.
  4. If this team misses the playoffs its all Stearns fault. He destroyed the strength of the team which was defense and didn't improve the pitching. Great offseason for him but his in season moves have pretty much all been terrible.
  5. I am sorry but Schoop should not be on this team next season at 8 million plus. We can just pay Perez a million or two to hit as poorly but have the flexibility to play multiple positions.
  6. He made the team worse at the deadline by weakening our biggest strength which was our team defense. There is no way to sugarcoat the fact that he did a terrible job at the deadline most likely costing us a playoff spot while giving away some good prospects in the process.
  7. Stearns really should get some heat for how he totally flubbed the trading deadline. Not only did he not improve the team he actually made it worse all while trading away useful prospects.
  8. We are going to end up around 82-80. We are really potentially in a tough spot going forward; not a true contender and not bad enough to get elite talent at the top of the draft.
  9. Considering we never win anymore he will have to pitch sometime.
  10. I also think that Stearns has made some big mistakes with this pitching staff. Burnes should be in this rotation for sure and Woodruff should have been given a real chance to stick as well. I still like Stearns and think overall he has done a great job but he had an awful deadline.
  11. Stearns deserves real criticism for how he handled this trade deadline. Not only did he not improve the team there is an argument to be made that he made us worse. We went from being one of the best team defenses in baseball to below average. Shaw is not a second baseman and Thames is not an outfielder. Defensively we have looked terrible the last few weeks. Just play Arcia every day at this point. With Schoop pretty much hitting like Arcia we can't afford the hit defensively. I know we paid a lot to get this guy but I want no part of paying Schoop 10 million next season to hit like Hernan Perez.
  12. Moose has been fine but we had a similar player in Shaw who gets on base at a much higher rate. Now we are playing Shaw at second and he has no business playing there.
  13. Since we gave up 2 good prospects plus Villar to get him I think we are definitely going to keep Schoop next year but is he really worth the 10 million or so that he will get. I thought we were getting away from the all slugging no patience type of hitters but guess not.
  14. Although it's still early into the Moose/Shoop era, these moves aren't looking like they are going to get them over the .500 hump this team has been for the past 2.5 months. The only thing these trades are going to accomplish is losing a couple high ranked prospects. It's not easy being a Brewers fan. Stearns has been an A+ GM since being hired but he had a rough trading deadline.
  15. I wouldn't be surprised to see us finish in 4th place.
  16. Trading for Moustakas and Schoop were Melvinesque. I was happy knowing that Stearns valued defense and OBP but he made a big mistake abandoning it for slugging and nothing else.
  17. The strengths of this team were team defense and the bullpen. The bullpen has now fallen apart due to overuse and the defense isn't any good because we decided to bench Arcia and play Schoop, Shaw, and Thames out of position. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see this team finish in 4th place.
  18. Just win tomorrow so we can finally win a series. We have to get off this win one lose one nonsense that we have done all month.
  19. We have to stop yanking our starters with low pitch counts when they are pitching well. How many times lately has Counsell pulled the starter after 5 or 6 innings when the pitcher is going well and has a pitch count in the 70s or 80s. Hader and Jeffress are used too often and they are wearing down.
  20. I think Peralta and Burnes both have top of the rotation upside. Even with Degrom we are far from the favorites to win the division much less the World Series which should be our ultimate goal. Next season we could have a terrific rotation with Nelson, Peralta, and Burnes in it and the lineup should be so much better with Hiura at second base. Looking at the big picture we will be much better off in future seasons by keeping the system intact. Hiura really looks like our only impact bat even close to the majors. We just cannot afford to give that up. Yes Degrom is great but he has a lot of tread on the tires and pitchers get hurt so often that the risks of trading a potential star bat like Hiura plus Peralta and Burnes is just too risky. The Yelich trade was much more understandable because he is a young position player with 5 years of control vs 2.5 of Degrom. I don't understand this need every time we are decent to go all in. We aren't losing anyone important after the season and have a potential star in Hiura plus some nice pitching that will contribute next season. Bottom line to me is just stay the course. Go out and get good rentals like Asdrubral Cabrera and a bullpen arm like we did last year with Swarzak. Those rental deals cost us nearly nothing last year and we can do that again this season without mortgaging any of our future.
  21. This team doesn't need to trade for either of these guys. Just make a couple of rental deals like Cabrera from the Mets and maybe a cheap reliever. We should be an even better team the next few years with Hiura in the lineup and a rotation with both Peralta and Burnes. Starting pitchers get hurt too often to trade away multiple top prospects for especially if any deal includes Hiura. Just stay the course and we should be contending for a long time to come. If we unload Hiura and several starting pitchers for Degrom or Syndergaard and either of them gets hurt we will be devastated. Our lineup has been pretty awful. The last thing this team should do is trade away a guy like Hiura who could be a future batting champion with decent power. There is no reason to sell out for a pitcher when the future looks so bright with Hiura, Peralta, and Burnes in the system.
  22. Just go out and get Asdrubral Cabrera. He will probably cost nothing like Neil Walker did last season. The Mets will be happy just to get rid of his salary for the rest of the season. The idea of trading Hiura is completely insane to me. He is far and away our best positional prospect and the only one even remotely close to helping this team. A bat like his comes around once a decade for a small market team like the Brewers so we must keep him.
  23. Neil Walker may very well get DFA'd pretty soon from the Yankees and I think we should pounce if that happens.
  24. Orlando Arcia is a great example of a player that could use better coaching. Orlando always looks off balanced at the plate and that is something that could be corrected with time in the cage if we had a top notch hitting coach.
  25. Just wanted to start this topic of conversation regarding our exceptional pitching coach and our less than stellar hitting coach. Derek Johnson has gotten everything we could have asked for and more out of this pitching staff. The starting rotation which was supposedly the biggest weakness for this team has done pretty much as good a job as possible considering we don't exactly have overwhelming talent. On the other hand the offense has not been good ever since Coles became the hitting coach. I don't think we have ever been in the top 20 in MLB in runs scored since he was hired. Countless pitchers such as Chase Anderson, Jimmy Nelson, and Zach Davies have all improved tremendously under our pitching coach while most of the lineup has regressed under Coles. Seriously has any player in this lineup improved from year to year under this coach. Its time for Coles to be replaced and whatever coach or coaches that are responsible for fundamentals like fielding and baserunning need to go as well. Derek Johnson has shown what excellent coaching can do for a team and its time we had others that approached his level of excellence.
