  1. When you have as big of a question mark as this team does at third base both now and going forward I believe its a mistake giving away the potential answer especially over 5 million.
  2. Thats a fair opinion but I would take Urias over Monasterio both in the present and going forward due to having a longer track record. If we are dumping players over a 5 million dollar salary we have bigger issues going forward. At best Monastario is unproven and Anderson hasn't hit in months so keeping Urias around in a pennant race as at least an insurance policy was probably the right thing to do unless you really believe that Blalock is some uncovered gem and even if that is the case they have weakened the depth for this years team.
  3. The Monasterio/Anderson duo is exactly why you keep depth in Urias who was one of the better performers on this team last season. Using this years stats when Urias got hurt before the season and had limited at bats as a reason to give him away is strange when he has a few years of at least decent performance.
  4. The bigger question is why the Brewers traded Urias with a questionable starter in Monestario and another third baseman struggling as badly as Anderson.
  5. Being in first place doesn't excuse them from not giving Hiura a shot when they've gotten nothing out of their DHs. I also believe it was a mistake giving away Urias when you have at best an unproven guy at third and a guy carrying a whiffle ball bat up to plate penciled in at second base every night.
  6. This team has gotten no production out of the DH all season and not giving Hiura a legitimate shot to fill this huge hole is completely inexcusable.
  7. Does anyone have any information on why Arnold has not been extended. We know that Counsell basically has an open offer to have his contract extended but has not decided if he wants to continue managing but have heard nothing about the status of Arnold whose contract ends after the season. With many possible openings after the season we should have locked Arnold up by now and the future of this front office is an open question until we hear about a new contract for this GM.
  8. We barely have a positive run differential and still are in first place. We can nitpick certain decisions from Counsell but he gets everything possible out of this roster. I really hope he stays because he would be extremely hard to replace.
  9. Both Counsell and Arnold have their contracts up after the season. We know Counsell has chosen to wait to decide if he wants to continue managing the team but why have we heard nothing about the future of Arnold as the GM.
  10. The excuses for this offense need to end. This is a terrible offensive team that is only contending due to pitching, defense, and a joke of a division. I think we had a total of 9 hits in a three game series where we faced a rookie in game one and a faded veteran in Lynn with over a 6 ERA last night. This is an organizational failure with this lineup where players don't get better and some regress badly like Adames who once looked like a guy that would eventually sign a 200 million dollar plus contract as a free agent after the 24 season to a guy we should probably non tender to avoid paying him next season. We have a pitching lab that has done wonders getting the most out of our pitchers even ones that are not all that talented yet we seem to be clueless as an organization when it comes to getting anything out of hitters. The excuses of how unlucky we are is a joke at this point when we haven't hit all season.
  11. The Brewers need to completely revamp the way the organization develops hitters. They have figured out how to get the most out of pitchers even the ones that aren't overwhelmingly talented yet the hitters continue to mostly underproduce and in some cases decline to ridiculously low levels like Adames.
  12. I agree that this goes way beyond the failure to play Hiura and that we failed to improve the offense last offseason besides trading for Contreras who is a good hitting catcher.
  13. Maybe they should have been playing a former first round pick who was one of their better hitters last year instead of trading for one guy who appears to be washed up and another who is the quality of a fourth outfielder.
  14. I think we had a total of 9 hits over the three game series and blaming this on poor luck is nonsense when the truth is this lineup sucks.
  15. How many times are we going to hear that the Brewers are going to bolster the first base position in the offseason when it has mostly been a black hole since Fielder left.
  16. The Brewers might be the first team that values defense out of the DH position. I can't imagine a team being more hurt by the universal DH than the Brewers who continue to get nothing out of it.
  17. This team has not hit all season and has gotten virtually nothing out of first base and DH so there is no excuse for not giving Hiura a real chance down the stretch. Its pitiful that this team actually had a 3/4 of Santana and Canha in last nights lineup while Hiura is playing in AAA.
  18. Off topic but why is there such disrepect for people with different thoughts and views. The personal attacks have gotten way out of hand and have made this a much less enjoyable place to be.
  19. Yelich needs a day off and should get one next time we face a lefty.
  20. Graceful right fielder. He looks almost as athletic as Ben Sheets.
  21. Great baserunning from Sal to take third.
  22. Sal is the very definition of a professional hitter.
  23. It sure is nice having Devin on this team.
  24. I would have kept Milner in for one more batter.
