  1. As much as we like Counsell there is no manager that should change the direction of an organization. I think Counsell is done after the season but regardless I am favor of moving guys like Burnes, Adames, and Woodruff if healthy because I don't believe that a team that won't spend should or really can afford to let premium free agents walk without getting something back and no I don't consider one draft pick as nearly enough for a guy like Burnes.
  2. I don't see all this potential that you do but I hope you are right. I see a lineup with very little talent and don't see that changing with the players we have on this roster or in AAA currently. Plus we have to assume Burnes isn't returning to ace form when he has pitched like this for a full year at this point. If you tell me a team like the Padres or Mets who have played poorly most of this season will eventually turn it around you can point to a bunch of underacheiving stars picking it up but we just don't have that level of talent.
  3. You can think the Brewers have similar talent to those teams but I strongly disagree and I would be shocked if this team wins 85 games even in this division.
  4. I wouldn't point to Grisham as developing a good hitter since he isn't one. No one is throwing in the towel on any of our rookies but I don't see any of them becoming great offensive players. Turang is eventually going to be the shortstop and the defense will play but the bat is just not there. Some of the prospects look promising but the system as a whole isn't very strong with hitters or arms. Stearns started off great but he tailed off dramatically at the end and the organization looks to be in a weak position moving forward especially if they aren't able to cash in on Burnes, Woodruff, and Adames and lets face it Burnes is not going to bring us a huge return if he continues to pitch as he has. Its great to have optimism with this organization but the only bright spot I see is the division being terrible.
  5. Every one of those teams had far more talented rosters than this one.
  6. This team hasn't developed any good hitters since Braun much less a hitter of his caliber.
  7. This current group isn't a championship contender so I would certainly trade Burnes and Woodruff as well if he is healthy since its obvious we aren't signing either long term.
  8. The offense is pitiful and will not get meaningfully better with these players. I can't even remember the last great hitter this organization has drafted and developed; it might be Ryan Braun which is pitiful. The organization has continually drafted way too many punchless middle infielders which is another problem few talk about. To be honest we haven't exactly hit on any starting pitchers either since the debuts of Burnes, Woodruff, and Peralta who was acquired via trade. If it were up to me I would move on from this front office after the season and hire John Hart or Jeff Luhnow who are both fantastic organization builders from the bottom up. With Burnes and Woodruff gone soon enough we could be in big trouble very soon.
  9. This will all be proven true when he is hired by the Mets as soon as his contract with the Brewers is over. I am far from the only one that believes it’s just a matter of time and will be proven right soon enough.
  10. It’s your right to think that Voit and Ruf are good but I haven’t seen anything on the field this season that says they are.
  11. No way Voit/Ruf will be a top 10 anything this season.
  12. I've seen enough of Voit to not want him in the lineup and how many teams have to release Ruf for us to realize he isn't any good.
  13. It can but that would require having the best front office in baseball which is something we can do if we were to bring in John Hart or Jeff Luhnow and let Arnold follow Mr Met to New York.
  14. Tampa is an absolute outlier but the fact remains its an uphill battle competing with teams that have 2-4 times the payroll we do.
  15. How embarrassing is it to have these options for DH.
  16. Stearns has wanted the Mets job ever since Cohen bought the team. Counsell is a Wisconsin guy but is at the point where he looks like he knows the situation is so bleak going forward that he will just walk away and retire unless he has the fire to follow Stearns to the Mets.
  17. If the alternatives were any good he would be gone already.
  18. I really expected more from Winker and was hoping we would be getting the Cincy version who always crushed Brewers pitching.
  19. Totally reminds me of the stories that Stearns contract was up soon and they had no extension talks. Wouldn't shock me if all three of Mr Met, Counsell, and Arnold are working for the criminal Cohen in Queens next season.
  20. I think he walks away on his own at the end of the season. He just looks worn out and can't be enjoying watching this team play everyday.
  21. The best thing that could happen for the future of this franchise is to reload by trading Burnes and hopefully Adames for great minor leaguers from real contenders.
  22. I guess we aren't even pretending to try to win this game.
  23. Lauer probably won't be complaining about the Brewers front office anytime soon when he sucks this much.
