    Yelich has really played well lately but at his salary we really need even more especially when it comes to hitting with more power. At the very least he’s good again which is definitely a positive for this team.

    There is the potential for all four of the Brewers competitors in this division to all be drafting in the top 10 next year, the division is really that bad.

    After watching this weekend I think this division race is over. The Reds belong in AAA as does every other team we have to face. The Cardinals are more likely to be drafting in the top 5 than challenging for the division title and no other team has any talent so the Brewers should win the division even if they only win 82-83 games and could even win it if they finish below .500 which probably won't happen with all these games against these divisional teams which are all horrendous.

    I would say 83 wins takes this division for sure and it really could be won with as few as 78 wins.

    The longer we hold on to Burnes the lower his value gets and taking the draft pick compensation is just not smart for the future. Hopefully Burnes pitches well and we cash him in at the deadline where a contending team will have him for two playoff runs. The sooner we realize that this team isn't good the sooner the selloff can begin.

    It would almost be better for the future of the team if we didn't play in such a weak division so we would be sure to sell instead of hoping to scratch into the playoffs to get crushed by whoever we play.

    This offense is not going to get meaningfully better; we just don't have good hitters. Sure this team can win a division where all the teams are bad but the smart move is to trade the players coming up on free agency after the 24 season and even listen on Devin. Fact is this team is the 7th or 8th best in a weak national league and is certainly no championship contender.

    This team can't afford to let an asset like Burnes leave without getting anything besides a late first round pick in return. I am in favor of extending Woodruff but this owner doesn't seem to want to do any other big money deals after the Yelich flop.

    Is there really going to be a backlash if this team is hovering around .500 at the deadline if they trade Burnes. If this was a 90 plus win team poised to win a World Series I would understand the apprehension but as long as this team keeps playing as it has Burnes should be traded.

    I am all for pitching and the position players should be anything but the punchless middle infielders that this team just won't stop drafting but I agree that I would avoid catchers early.

    I would like to see more pitching and some power bats. The thing I hope the team avoids is spending high picks on powerless middle infielders which they have picked far too often in recent years.

    I wouldn't point to Grisham as developing a good hitter since he isn't one. No one is throwing in the towel on any of our rookies but I don't see any of them becoming great offensive players. Turang is eventually going to be the shortstop and the defense will play but the bat is just not there. Some of the prospects look promising but the system as a whole isn't very strong with hitters or arms. Stearns started off great but he tailed off dramatically at the end and the organization looks to be in a weak position moving forward especially if they aren't able to cash in on Burnes, Woodruff, and Adames and lets face it Burnes is not going to bring us a huge return if he continues to pitch as he has. Its great to have optimism with this organization but the only bright spot I see is the division being terrible.

    This team hasn't developed any good hitters since Braun much less a hitter of his caliber.

    The offense is pitiful and will not get meaningfully better with these players. I can't even remember the last great hitter this organization has drafted and developed; it might be Ryan Braun which is pitiful. The organization has continually drafted way too many punchless middle infielders which is another problem few talk about. To be honest we haven't exactly hit on any starting pitchers either since the debuts of Burnes, Woodruff, and Peralta who was acquired via trade. If it were up to me I would move on from this front office after the season and hire John Hart or Jeff Luhnow who are both fantastic organization builders from the bottom up. With Burnes and Woodruff gone soon enough we could be in big trouble very soon.

    Yelich to me gets a C for getting on base at a good level but no higher due to his complete lack of power and bad defense. Taylor deserves a C for being decent defensively and coming up with clutch hits but I can't go higher due to his awful OBP McCutchen gets a C- for being completely mediocre and the fact that he was our "big" acquisition and he is just not good enough to be playing everyday in the middle of the lineup. He doesn't set the lineup so its obviously not his doing but he is just not an everyday player or middle of the lineup bat for a contending team. Renfroe gets a C for his power and decent enough defense but he's been hurt too much and is another on this team not getting on base enough to receive a higher grade. The outfield overall has been better than the infield but when you consider how much money we have tied up in it the production is not nearly good enough.

    These grades are obviously all subjective but this infield as a whole just hasn't played well at all.

    Thats fair enough because Buxton is a gold glove caliber center fielder but my comment was about Tellez who is bad defensively and isn't getting on base.

    If you have an OBP around .300 you don't get higher than a C in my view.

    Don't take this the wrong way but the grades are beyond generous. Rowdy with his .305 OBP and below average defense deserves at best a C and no way a B+. If Wong doesn't get an F I don't know who would but I won't argue too much with a D. I like Adames and appreciate the power and defense but I can't give a grade higher than a C for a player with a .220 average and OBP below .300. Urias deserves a D as he should be a high average, high OBP guy and he has been neither. The infield as a whole deserves a D as not one of these guys has outperformed and Wong in particular has been completely awful.

    If they think he is a potential star I get it but how many outfielders does this team need to draft or sign from Latin America. I admit that I haven't seen any of these guys play so its hard to form an opinion about any of these players but I find it hard to believe that the best player available is always an outfielder when the Brewers pick. Pitching is always a need so no issue with picking an arm with big upside and we really need a third base prospect in the worst way so if its a close call I would hope they pick someone other than another outfielder. This organization has been pitiful when it comes to drafting position players which is proven by the fact that we don't have one homegrown everyday starting position player in our lineup. Yes we have Chourio and some other promising guys in the system but this team has done far better drafting pitching and thats the way I would go in round one.

    Unless the team feels the player is far and away above the other available talent I would hate to see the Brewers draft yet another outfielder.

    Sounds way too much like Ethan Small who apparently at 25 isn't good enough to beat out the likes of Alexander and Chi Chi so I would pass with seemingly limited upside.
