  1. I don't think that Arnold should completely shut the door on trading Burnes or Adames. If a team is willing to meet a high price for either of the two we should be willing to make that deal.
  2. I also will never argue against drafting pitching especially if the guy projects to be a starter and not a reliever and has plus stuff.
  3. I watch very little college baseball and obviously havent seen the high school players in action so my hope is that this team focuses on high upside pitching and projectable bats instead of focusing on up the middle athletes that can't hit. Its a real shame that this team hasn't produced a big time hitter since Ryan Braun and its time that we focus on better hitters instead of positional flexibility.
  4. Why does every position player have to have plus defensive value. Is it really a bad thing to draft a bat first player once in awhile. Its great when a guy can play a bunch of different positions but when the bat isn't there the overall value isn't so great,
  5. Exactly the type of player the Brewers need to add to their system but this front office only seems to like up the middle athletes and guys that can play multiple positions even if that player can't hit.
  6. The issue for the Brewers is whether or not Stearns is going to purge the Brewers front office and hire Counsell for next season.
  7. Considering Cohen has been cited for insider trading it’s not hard to guess that he has had contact with Stearns
  8. Stearns did not do a good job his last year or two with the Brewers and certainly was more than upset that Attanasio didn’t let him out of his contract to go home to his dream job.
  9. Yelich has really played well lately but at his salary we really need even more especially when it comes to hitting with more power. At the very least he’s good again which is definitely a positive for this team.
  10. Neither Counsell or anyone else is going to make these guys hit.
  11. I just hope that Counsell and Arnold don't follow Stearns to New York. Counsell leaving his home town team to go to the Mets would really sting. As for Stearns the Mets were his dream job and my guess is he must have been very upset when Attanasio didn't let him go home when he denied Cohen permission to speak to him.
  12. Eppler is supposedly Stearns best friend so I think Stearns is well aware of what moves that team has been making. Eppler the other day was talking about the pitching lab which I am fairly certain he is too stupid to have come up with on his own. Eppler should consider himself very lucky to be employed and maybe even luckier to be Stearns friend because he should not be employed by a major league team considering what a dud he was in Anaheim.
  13. Xavier Warren was another guy picked solely on positional flexibility. We have failed in developing any good hitters for a decade. Kudos to the organization with how they’ve consistently found pitching but the bats have been lacking for years.
  14. Forget this season the problem is due to incredibly poor drafting of position players. Instead of looking for positional flexibility we need to start drafting better hitters. The amount of high picks we have used on weak hitting middle infielders is staggering and a big reason why the system has produced almost no legitimate bats over the last decade.
  15. I have been mocked for saying that Stearns has basically already been hired by the Mets but I will end up being right. Cohen just had a press conference and did everything but actually say he is hiring Stearns after the season. The question I have is Counsell going to join him in New York and will Arnold go there as well. While I don’t blame Attanasio for Stearns wanting to run his childhood team I wonder if his cheapness is going to chase away Counsell who is a Milwaukee guy and Arnold who I question if we should even want to retain. I would be happy to move on from this front office altogether and hire either my personal favorite John Hart or Jeff Luhnow but I question whether this owner would spend big for a front office. Attanasio has had a decent run but I would like him to sell to someone with deeper pockets.
  16. Clearly I was wrong about Ruf and he was probably going to hit like Prince Fielder before getting injured.
  17. He's a good pitcher who shouldn't be punished for having a different political view than you but in todays world I guess you have to tow the line or face the consequences which is quite sad.
  18. The problem with the offense is that most of these hitters just aren't any good. Sure you can say that Adames has underperformed and it can be countered with Miller overperforming.
  19. There is a middle ground between being cheap and spending like drunken sailors as the Mets and Padres have done.
  20. I suppose Urias could give the offense a boost as well as getting more from Contreras and Willy but other than that I don't see much upside unless the Wiemer of the last week or so is legit which I question.
  21. If I believed these hitters were any good I would expect better results but I don't. If we are talking about regression don't we have to discuss the high leverage relievers who have pitched unbelievably well and are due for some negative results. Overall I see this as a mediocre team that should win a division where they will probably be the only team over .500 but not nearly good enough to beat the very good teams like Atlanta and LA. If anything the lousy division means we will likely hold on to Burnes, Woodruff, and Adames until they become free agents after the 24 season and then really hit the skids with very little starting pitching on the way and a cheap owner.
  22. There is the potential for all four of the Brewers competitors in this division to all be drafting in the top 10 next year, the division is really that bad.
  23. We could use the depth and he's had success not too long ago. For now he can work as the long man and if we can straighten him out we will have a long term starting pitcher. The cost to acquire Plesac will be extremely cheap and the upside is there for him to be a long term solution.
  24. They have 10 days to trade him before he is exposed on waivers.
  25. He was just DFA'd by Cleveland and I think we should be interested.
