  1. I don't know how anyone can think this team is good right now. Hopefully the pitching will improve once Woodruff and Ashby come back but the offense is not going to get meaningfully better without some trades.
  2. The lineup is so much better and with the injuries to the Brewers pitching they are currently as good if not better. The cardinals are also welite defensively and we look lost.
  3. The hardest part of the schedule is not behind us yet. We still have all the good AL East teams left as well as almost all our games against LA and SF.
  4. Is it really unbelievable or is this just not a good team.
  5. This team has sucked defensively all season. The injuries have destroyed the pitching staff but there is no excuse for bad defense.
  6. No offense with Costanza and Chi Chi in the rotation makes for a joke of a team.
  7. As this team is currently constructed it is not even close to being a playoff team even with half the league tanking.
  8. The clock has struck midnight and Cinderella is out of tricks.
  9. Admittedly I only saw a few games with Melendez but he looked like a really good hitter not just a power guy. He's an older college player but its hard to ignore the numbers he put up this season.
  10. I was hoping for JD Martinez but the Red Sox are now contending so thats out the window. Josh Bell is probably as high as we can aim and he's an upgrade for sure but I think this team is going to have to have a nearly injury free pitching staff and hope that they can carry the team to a championship. Last season our biggest deadline acquisition was Escobar who was not a big enough upgrade so hopefully we aim higher this season but I'm not sure there will be a huge upgrade available. Our best chance of winning is Burnes, Woodruff, and Peralta pitching lights out with Devin and Josh dominating and hopefully squeezing out a bunch of wins. I doubt Stearns can do anything that makes this lineup much better so we will have to hope that guys can get hot at the right time and the pitching carries us.
  11. With little to no financial flexibility as evidenced by the owner saying we went overbudget for McCutchen you would think Pham is about the type of upgrade we can make and I doubt he moves the needle all that much anyway. Even if we were to acquire him or someone even better I doubt McCutchen loses many at bats and that is a big problem.
  12. Even with the high strikeout rate Hiiura has shown he can hit righties yet never starts against them while McCutchen hasn't hit righties in years yet seems locked in at the cleanup spot against them.
  13. I don't think that Pham is anything special but he is better than McCutchen and because he isn't a big name former star Counsell would probably have no problem benching him while McCutchen plays pretty much every day no matter how bad he is.
  14. Ivan Melendez should be a consideration for the Brewers.
  15. Would have been a far better sign than McCutchen.
  16. With probably close to half of the teams in tank mode what does having an average offense mean. When you look at all the contenders in the National League which include the Mets, Braves, and Phillies in the East, Brewers and Cardinals in the Central, and the Dodgers, Padres, and Giants in the West the worst offense is the Brewers and they are substantially worse than most of those other teams. Being better on offense than teams like the Pirates and Nationals means little to nothing since those teams aren't even trying to compete.
  17. I believe both are true but no doubt that the injuries to the pitching has really hurt.
  18. When your cleanup hitter is either Urias and his .215 average or McCutchen you are not a good offensive team.
  19. Did anyone see that when Suter was struggling Kelley was the one warming up to potentially come in next. Suter wasn’t the reason why we lost but him and Kelley as options in a tie game in the 8th tells you where the injuries have left this pitching staff.
  20. You were also the one who scoffed when I said let’s see where this team is after they face good teams throughout most of June yet here we are.
  21. Without a dominant pitching staff and a top defense behind it this team has no chance.
  22. What we really need is to realize that between the injuries and the defense this is not our year and that Hader should be available at the deadline.
  23. Lane should not be employed after that disastrous send of Renfroe.
