  1. Starters give up runs every once in a while. His over 5 ERA as a starter tells me he gives them up all too often. He may need some work but I think he's a starter.
  2. I'm getting too old for this to be a nightly thing.
  3. I feel like Thames has become adequate at first.
  4. I think this is key. It takes the pressure off of HAVING to go 9-2. At that point, it's anybody's division.
  5. I think this is an extremely logical take. There is always the chance that this team could cool off and suffer a bullpen implosion at any time. I am super excited to ride this wave as far as it can take us, but the balance is tenuous. It is very reassuring knowing, though, that if the Brewers take care of business, they are in. No one saw that a month ago. I think that's been true all year. The issue is, they haven't taken care of business up until this point and honestly haven't shown the consistency to do it at any point, even during stretches of competition similar to what they are looking at now. I said a long time ago that I needed to see something like a 13 of 15 stretch to believe in this team. Not because they lacked the overall talent (pitching wise they did/do) but because of the consistency. Well, they are in that type of run now. Part of me thinks Lyles has brought that "Miley" effect to the rotation and it seems like all they need is one guy performing like that and the starting pitching stabilizes. I still don't know what the pen is but it isn't last years. Maybe Pomeranz was enough. Either way, really bad teams go on stretches like this and really good teams don't tend to have streaks much longer than this. I just wonder if baseball doesn't take over. Having said all of that, it does line up well and they certainly have a shot.
  6. I don't know. Asking to only lose two games the rest of the way seems dicey. Next two Padre pitchers are decent, so is Gray, Williams always gives us fits. Two series on the road and Colorado is going to be itching to spoil us after last year. The pitching match ups look generally good for us and Pittsburgh looks like they've just quit but just the law of averages says we lose at lest three of the next 11 considering the streak they are on already. I am truly torn on whether they can really run the table to the tune of 9-2. This is going to be a dog fight. I'm not being pessimistic, I think they can go on a good run the rest of the way but I'm not sure where the realistic stance is. Maybe 7-4 or 8-3.
  7. He is. Simply because they don't have 7 better relievers. The way they continue to use him gives absolutely no indication that they don't view him as a key part of the pen, for better or worse. I'll give this a go; Hader, Guerra, Pomeranz, Claudio, Peralta, Jay Jackson, and Ray Black are all better. That group may have more talent but each and everyone of them, including Albers, have hand good and bad stretches. None are overly consistent with the exception of Hader.
  8. This philosophy has worked for the most part, but it seems a little amped up tonight. Took them to within one game of the World Series last year.
  9. This is my guess as well. If by some miracle, the evidence falls apart and he escapes serious criminal charges...that won't be enough. I think teams would opt to not sign this guy, can't imagine an agent needing the money that bad to want to represent him. It would take some sort of massive retraction from the police department saying they had it all wrong(which won't happen), for him to have any chance to pitch again. 100% correct. The guy is now a pariah.
  10. Unless Pina is good to go, no one else is catching. Maybe a late game sub if the game is a blowout, but not starting.
  11. He'll never play again. I can't imagine he will ever be accepted back in to a major league clubhouse even if the league doesn't ban him or he ends up being deported if that is what happens. I don't know all the legal aspects but I can't imagine he will ever play in MLB again.
  12. No doubt! I rode him for his hot streak in 3 of my 4 fantasy leagues, he was out of control ridiculous for a while. Cold as ice for a long time now though. It's been a month or more now. Saw an AB of his that would make Arcia look like Babe Ruth.
  13. That Aquino guy for the Reds sure has fallen off a cliff after a hot start. I guess the book is out.
  14. My first reaction was that Hiura would have rushed that throw.
  15. Both had pretty similar prospect archs if I remember correctly.
  16. Until tomorrow. Then Woody goes to the top.
  17. Makes me wish I wasn't so cheap and had MLB.tv with the split screen. Heh, heh. I do. But I can't get the Nats game because I'm considered local at 4 hours away.
  18. Makes me wish I wasn't so cheap and had MLB.tv with the split screen. Heh, heh. I do.
  19. I can't be responsible for bad decision making... [sarcasm]Punk[/sarcasm]
  20. Depends on what you mean by talent. I think that translates to velocity for me. I'm not entirely sure Woodruff doesn't miss a few spots a game as well. The difference is he has the stuff to get away with it. I know you don't throw hard to be a successful starting pitcher but it sure seems most top shelf starting pitchers throw hard, or at least did at some point. I'm probably not explaining my stance well here but there it is.
  21. He's made that jump up and down several times this year.
