  1. I'm just stunned that a 30 year old journeymen, quad a catcher is not suddenly a superstar. Stunned I tell you.
  2. It was nice around here for a while.
  3. I don't even bother reading anymore. If you feed the animals, they will keep coming back.
  4. I don't know. Going in to Wrigley and being on the verge of a 4-game sweep seems pretty "earny" to me. Beating whipped dogs is easy-see every series we've played outside the Cardinals one recently I'd say beating the teams your supposed to beat falls in the realm of earning it. Something we failed to do earlier in the year and that is why we are in this position to begin with. If we take care of business then, the Cardinals don't matter now.
  5. Hell yes! Now he's a real baseball player. Should make some folks around here happy.
  6. I'm not confused about your point and I'm not sure the above statement is really making a distinction. I mean, believe what you want to believe but you are making a judgement on an individual based on how you think he should behave given a certain set of conditions and you are doing so with very limited information. You have literally zero idea as to the accountability standards Arcia is held to behind closed doors and/or whether Arcia is meeting those standards. Maybe they have set the expectation with Arcia that they just need him to play good defense and offense isn't the important thing. If so, why wouldn't he be happy he is meeting the expectations of his employer. Your expectations don't really mean anything. Right, he sucks. Nobody has argued that point. It sounds like you might have an issue with the Brewers playing him so much but that isn't his fault. As if baseball is equivalent to the world us poor schleps live in. Players other than Arcia will and do get paid millions to literally suck at their jobs. Generally, I find that people who have an issue with other people being who they are have their own set of issues. It just seems a little intolerant to me.
  7. Well, for one, you make judgements about people based on your perceptions of how someone should behave in a given situation. For another, you have no idea what is in Arcia's head. He may the type of person that shows something outwardly but he may very well be harder on himself than anyone behind closed doors. Maybe your an expert on reading body language but unless you are, you are just making a judgment about another person based on your opinion. You can decide what that says about you.
  8. Human beings who are playing a game for a living. Personally I think the whole Cardinal unwritten rule "play the game the right way" stuff is crap. Most of these guys are going to have a career that spans less than 6-7 years in the majors. Have fun while you're out there, regardless of how your skills stack up. Because once you're done, that's it. You'd have a hard time wiping the smile off my face if I were a big leaguer and I don't care how bad I performed.
  9. I'm glad he's happy. I just wish his play justified it. The belief that a player can’t express happiness without results is bewildering to me. I agree. Life is so much bigger than this game. The guy has new baby twins if I'm not mistaken. I honestly think that kind of attitude says more about the person saying it than it does about the person it was directed at.
  10. I could see them trying Braun at first again. They almost have to.
  11. The outfield is going to be interesting next year too. I can't see them keeping five guys that strictly play the OF.
  12. I was about to say "because he's a catcher." But when you think about it, that bat would play as a nearly full time 1B, and it isn't like he'd be blocking anyone. Let Thames walk and use that money elsewhere.
  13. Just address it with moose and Grandal. And be done with it. Do we have any ss in minors that can be here soon. Go that route Sometimes Arcia pulls his head out of his you know what. Maybe he will do it again next year What if Grandal gets 3/4 year offers? Can and should we really be spending money on that? For a 30+ year old catcher? That could be an instant disaster with the fickle catcher position. I mean if Grandal is a nice short term option different story, but can’t assume that. Why does he have to be resigned as a catcher?
  14. They have to address first, third, short and catcher and that says nothing of he pitching. One of those positions is going to be filled by a less than optimal choice. Do you want Arcia at short, Pina starting behind the plate or Shaw starting at third?
  15. I don't see five better options on the roster right now so he's a starter up until the point there are five better starters on the roster. I'm perfectly fine with him out of the pen if we have five starters better than he is.
  16. Do we know that Cain is good to go? I think I'd almost rather have Pina over Austin and put Grandal at first.
  17. I was just thinking about how slow this game is going to get now.
  18. Hes had an awful year. He has been Shaw-like... Weird, for both of them.
  19. Does Carpenter just not play anymore for the Cardinals?
  20. Seems like the Cubs are feeling the pressure.
  21. [sarcasm]It's probably the pitching coach.[/sarcasm]
