  1. If that is the case, I'm good with starting Anderson on a short short leash... Me too.
  2. All this angst about who starts. Does it really matter? We will throw out one of our starters that has a 50/50 chance of being good for four innings and hope for the best. The analytics will decide who that is.
  3. Probably should have cut Knebel too when he was struggling. Games like that are going to happen when your entire rotation is pitch to contact types. Relax and watch the next 8.5 innings. I forgot Davies was an all star and throws 98. He’s an mlb average soft tosser, don’t need him anymore. Funny how this team has won 92 game with out a single one of those in the rotation. Imagine if we did have one.

  5. I don't like the pitching matchups for the Cubs and their pen is shaky at best. If the Cards are fighting for a playoff spot the Cubs are going to get everything they can handle and then some. Then again I apparently only consider ERA so what do I know. Wouldn't be surprised if the Cubs drop two which would make me look silly for thinking the Brewers had zero shot at the division for quite some time now.
  6. Two chances to advance as opposed to one. I would take the tiebreaker game on Monday 10 times out of 10. Particularly with the way the Brewers are constructed with regard to starting pitching. It think that scenario plays into their hands better than it would most other teams. I don't see how having to play back-to-back would be a huge issue for this team and, as you noted, two chances to move on is far better than one.
  7. Since lester basically makes more per year than the entire brewer rotation combined, that's a low hurdle to clear. Fact is Lester got lucky a few early inning abs with runners on everywhere didn't send him to the showers much earlier when he was battling control. 0 runs is nice no matter how you get there, but that was far from a solid start just by looking at him pitch. I think his back issue from early September is still lingering... You are absolutely correct. Unfortunately style points are not part of the game. As you stated, keeping runs off the board is the objective of the game regardless of how you get there. The bold part could describe the majority of starts from our rotation. If Lester is garbage then what do we have?
  8. The result which was 0 ER which is ERA. Say it all you want but all you focused on was the ERA, not how he actually pitched. I mean sure if you want to be super shallow the results were great, doesn't mean his pitching was great. OK, you win.

  10. No, not really. I focused on the result and the Point still stands, the board would be ecstatic with six shootout innings form any of our starters.
  11. You would be, I would not. Seriously ERA is about the 20th stat I go to for how someone pitched. I'd be happy with the result but I would understand the result has nothing to do with how the guy actually pitched. ERA over a 7 IP sample is completely worthless. I didn't say anything about ERA. I guarantee this board would ecstatic with any one of our starters throwing six shutout innings. No question.
  12. If one of our starters threw that exact same line we'd be jumping for joy.
