  1. What happens if they both make the playoffs? [sarcasm]Who, Reds and Cubs?[/sarcasm]
  2. I live in a Raleigh suburb and we attend quite a few Muscats games every year. The food/drink at the park is absolutely nothing to write home about. They do have a restaurant at the park but I've never actually eaten there. The park is a bit outside of Raleigh but it is a really easy in/out and an easy drive back after a game depending on where exactly you are staying in Raleigh. The atmosphere is fantastic for a high A ball park. The Brewers have spent some money on things like "the largest screen in the league" and such. Wear your Brewer gear, they love that. Players are always accessible down the left field line and they are very engaged with the fans most nights. The bullpens are just at the end of the dugouts and I always find it interesting to be in on the conversations that go on there. I've never had a poor experience there. As the team is currently constructed, this isn't one of the more talented teams they've had there but there are almost always chatty scouts behind home plate. There is a TON to due in Raleigh and the surrounding area. It really just depends on what your interests are. My oldest and I are actually going to be in DC that weekend to catch a couple of games against the Nationals. We've been here about five years now and we absolutely love it. Feel free to PM me and we can get more detailed about what to do and see if you like.
  3. So much for easy. Plus we've already had our one allowable inning for scoring runs.
  4. That has got to be one of the dumbest moves ever made when you take the Cole trade into account. Just horrible.
  5. Outward displays of negative emotion are overrated. I see no value in someone throwing a fit. In fact, not being able to control your negative emotions is typically a detriment. Sample size of one and obviously not on the professional level, but I had a bit of a temper when I played high school sports. Going into junior year, I made the conscious decision to be much more zen on the field. I don't know if being calm made me a better player, but it definitely didn't make me worse. I still had the fire inside, I just didn't lose my cool. Just because someone doesn't scream and yell doesn't mean they don't care. It just means they choose not to let their emotions get the best of them. On the flip side, I am all for showing happiness. Baseball is the absolute worst with unwritten rules and it pisses me off to no end that showing positive emotion or having fun is looked at as inappropriate. I agree getting upset at every little thing is stupid. Although it seems to work, or at least not lead to ejections, for so many players we play against. The last two years the numbers have shown that the Brewers are near the top in unfavorable ball/strike calls. It makes you wonder if voicing frustration with bad ball/strike calls leads to getting more calls in your favor. Last night it looked like Aguilar wanted to get tossed after he struck out in his last at bat and then just walked away. The camera's flashed to Counsell who was calmly standing at the railing not really interested in what was going on. Overall there is a real lax attitude on the team. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's nice to see guys having fun but so much of what this team does is just goofing around. I liked the intensity Prince had when played and there hasn't been anyone with that mentality since he left. When Pat Murphy was hired I assumed he was going to be the guy getting tossed all the time due to his hot head reputation but not so much. Some players just play better when they are ticked off. My oldest is a very passive basketball player until he gets PO'd, then he's a beast. He doesn't take it out on refs or other players, it's mostly at himself, or the refs if he feels he's not getting calls, but he definitely has a whole different demeanor when ticked off about something.
  6. I tend t agree that calling out a play or an instance of a player being lazy is probably more appropriate and it is what I tend to do. I don't believe any player is intentionally being habitually lazy. Having said that, as long as it's not excessive or repeated as the moderators have noted, why would that be out of bounds. If someone has that opinion they should be able to post it. We can't start censoring things like that because individual posters don't like it.
  7. The Brewers are still trailing five teams in the loss column and now six behind the Cubs. The Cubs would need a pretty serious down period for the division to be any sort of realistic goal. It's gonna be a dog fight for the two wild card slots. Five teams vying for two spots.
  8. What did he do last summer that was so bad? Swarzak was a good addition. Walker was a good addition. Also way too early to say this season left a lot to be desired. Moustakas has been a good addition. Soria has been a good addition when healthy. Schoop not so much, but he still has time to salvage his time here. Well this year it seemed pretty given we needed a nice solid starter, he didn’t get that. If the pitching continues to just bomb thats going to look really bad at the end of the year. He just hasn’t done anything to take this team from fringe, to solid contender. Next year will be huge for him. If he turns in another fringe team in 2019 I’m going to be a bit concerned. I’m pretty neutral on Stearns so far. 2019-2021 is his time to shine in my opinion. He has to put an elite team on the field. It wasn't exactly a secret that DS went hard after pitching at last year's deadline, in the off-season and at this recent deadline. Whatever the reasons, he didn't get that done. I still believe the biggest weakness on this team is a true stopper in the rotation. It think DS agrees or he wouldn't continually be going after that elusive unicorn.
  9. Why wouldn't the regression of Guerra, Anderson and Knebel warrant a call for DJ's job?
  10. The runs were charged to Chacin, that tells you who's fault it is.
