  1. Holland is a guy that seems to have been discussed in passing, but not in depth. He’s been on top of my list since the releif market settled down. He was on a pricetah of f 1/$7m deal last year with the Rockies. With this market, I could see that pricetag repeating itself. I’d see this as a Cain / Yelich idea, where the bullpen isn’t a weakness, but we’re improving our strength. I’m sure he wouldn’t WANT to be a setup guy, but Arrieta wanted more money than he got. There doesn’t seem to be any signs of regression. On the downside, it would take up money that could be used at mid season to shore up holes, whether it’s 2b, SP, or another position we cannot invision at this point. I like that the Brewers are built around depth, especially with the rotation, or as CC says, initial out getters. We’ve got more young arms coming over the next couple years, who project to be useful. I’d much rather see than than Cobb.
  2. http://albethke.blogspot.com/ I can only be heard on Al's Rambling's now. The HH19 Twitter's out there are all fakes. So is that blog just some random right-wing guy posting things from twitter about Trump? Where's the baseball info? It’s his blog. If you don’t want to support it, don’t click. Hes allowed to be political. This place is supposed to be non-political. I’ve been following this place and that blog for a long time. He posts more political stuff than before, but it’s his blog. He’s got pretty good insight into the world of baseball. Back to a Stroman convo... Go get him at the deadline. Go brewers.
  3. I think it’s been noted that Stroman has been discussed as a mid season option, as DS is already poking around at teams that may be out of it, like the blue jays and mariners.
  4. To revisit the real estate idea... If you've got $15k to invest for a couple years, my favorite idea to start off with is the following; 1) most importantly, find a good property manager. 2) put 25% down on a $40k-$60k duplex in MKE. 3) Rent each side out for $550 - $700, depending on location and rooms. 4) don't take any profits for a couple years, just save the income so you have a bubble for a bad turn (fixing the unit and getting a new tenant in) 5) Within a few years, you will have saved up enough money to get your initial down payment back and either put it back in wherever it came from or invest in another property and double your cash flow. You'll never get rich off of what the property is worth, but it'll constantly cash flow until you sell the house. Its not as scary as people think, as long as you have a good property manager. You can get good tenants everywhere. Crappy landlords and managers bring in crappy tenants.
  5. What’s your favorite off season move, of any team? Are you looking at the move in terms of value, simple, raw production in 2018 regardless of price or another method? 1) Otani - It’s not like many teams had a chance for this deal. The chances of the Angels for getting amazing value out of this deal is pretty high. 2) Yelich - I’ll admit that I’ve got my homer blinders on. I think Yelich will continue to improve, or at least not regress and will be one of the best OF in the NL. The cost, in terms of prospects, was steep, but I consider Yelich an elite player. 3) Addison Reed to the twinkies. 2/$17M for an excellent bullpen arm. I don’t mind the high yearly salary, when it’s in conjunction with only two years. I like great bullpens. 4) Stanton - simply because he’s a monster and the Yankees added, without a doubt, an elite hitter. I won’t argue those who say the contract isn’t worth it in the end, but the dudes in his prime. The Yankees worry about 5 years from now 5 years from now. 5) Wily Peralta
  6. "Most users ever online was 1029 on February 05, 2018, 9:17 PM" Q - Hey, what happened on February 5th, 2018? A - Not a lot, but it was fun.
  7. I'm already logged on! I can't log on any further!
  8. HH is Andy Kaufman's kid.
  9. It's me. I was wondering.
  10. 790. He's still not as cool as a Luc rumor, but its a pretty good showing.
  11. Also, make a 2 minute delay for guests, just for fun.
  12. Brewerworld... I mean HH is logged in!!
  13. Maybe Bernie will be joined by a live action two fisted slopper.
  14. What happened on August 1st 2016? I got those numbers from the bottom of the main page. Looking back in the forum, that was the day Luc to Cleveland went down and was canceled.
  15. Fun facts. on Aug 1, 2016, there was a record 953 people on the site. A minute ago, there was 397. Within 10 seconds, it was up to 409. Go Brewers!
  16. From my expert and in depth analysis, the O’s cherish their rental-typebplayers more than this forum does our prospects, myself included sometimes. Like Jericho said, they’re only going to rebuild when they don’t know they’re rebuilding. I’m 2008, they tried to have a competitive team but sucked. The next draft they got Machado. That’s the orioles rebuilding. It’s nothing like we’ve done. What I’m getting at is, I don’t see them trading any major leaguer away any time soon.
  17. There’s two reasons I like Bauer, specifically over Chacin. 1) Bauer’s K/9 and BB/9 are both better. 2) Bauer’s increased his WAR in each of the last 4 years. Like it was said earlier, there’s an opportunity to get a live arm on its way up, getting better. Chacin is seen as someone who doesn’t have much indication he can get better.
  18. Prepare yourself for a high level of uncomfortableness.
  19. But that's not really a fair comparison, is it? Given the amount reportedly requested for Archer, wouldn't it be: Archer and Darvish or Darvish, Lynn, Santana (or whatever Santana brings in a trade with someone else), Phillips, Burnes and Peralta? It doesn't sound quite as good when you look at it that way, does it? Just like what they explained above... If we signed Yu, would the team then be able to sign the third largest contract in franchise history, which all three would be in the same off season? That Yelich trade along with the Cain signing threw me for a loop, so who knows... It sure isn't me!
  20. Sounds about right from a pitcher with 4 years of cheap CHEAP control left. That's honestly a huge factor people probably don't consider. You got a guy making less than $9M AAV over the next 4 years to be a potential all-star all 4 years. That would cost you $25M+ a year on the open market. You are talking $70M or so in surplus value. That $70M can do a lot for a franchise. That could easily be adding Cobb right there. Exactly! That steep trade for Archer isn't just for Archer. That trade gets you get Archer AND a Darvish or Arrieta. That is huge. It's really the same concept as Yelich and Cain. Are you insinuating we'd now have more money to spend on the free agent pitcher or the free agent would be more willing to sign? I guess I thought the Yelich / Cain timing was more on our end... Did the Yelich trade sort of talk Cain into signing? I guess I'm not catching how a trade would necessarily be connected to signing a FA deal.
  21. This is sort of what I was thinking as well. Like HH eluded to and we are all thinking... Adios Burnes.
  22. A lot of this conversation here comes back to wanting to keep a specific arm or a number of arms. Let's say it takes a combination of two of these arms to get a TOR pitcher back. Each team in the league rates the arms differently, but I'd guess its Ortiz / Burnes on top of the list with Woodruff next and Peralta last. The combination of Ortiz and Burnes would get a better TOR arm back. We see different roles, floors and ceilings for each of the below arms. Which two do you trade and why? Which arms do you want to keep to still make this pending TOR trade happen? I'd be fine giving any of the two arms up, as long as we get an actual TOR pitcher back. Ortiz Burnes Peralta Woodruff
  23. I cannot remember an off season I've been more excited and a lot has to do with the stove going from ice cold to in flames. I was not expecting the Brewers to go all in, its not what I would have done or wished they would have done, but I love it. So, count this as the 10th person to say thanks for increasing interest and helping make this an awesome off season. Go Brewers.
  24. Also no thank you. We'd lose too much production this year when we are trying to contend from proven players. We need a good pen and Knebel is a bullpen ace. It'd be a step back, in terms of building the team. They've got Cespedes and Conforto in the corner OF spots and Dominic Smith at 1b. They have no need for Shomingo. If anything the Mets would be looking to get MORE pitching. Their position players are pretty solid but they have a crap depth in their rotation.
  25. I highly doubt the Mets would trade him in the first place. They've got a decent core and he is a superstar out there. Even though it was a muscle injury, not a ligament, he's already lost a full season due to injury in his short career. You'd think he'll recover, but the league doesn't know yet. His motion is incredibly arm-dependent and explosive. This is not his last long term injury. Even though he's still in arbitration, its still not as locked in and cheap as an Archer for instance. Our top 5 is way too much for 4 years. I'm depending on Stearns to make better decisions than saying, "Hey, lets trade our top 5 for an injury prone pitcher, otherwise we won't ever win a WS."
