  1. 4 years*
  2. Huira Burnes Ortiz Woodruff Lutz/Dubon/Ray/Phillips 30 years of control of 55 rated prospects. No.
  3. Prospect hugging...brewerfan members are experts at it. I am guilty
  4. Oh man. Extremely pricey scares me but the ride will be fun!
  5. Is there a BF’er of the year award, because this guy gets it.
  6. “We'll see whether this goes beyond talking. Sometimes stuff like this gets out there to push a player's preferred teams along.“ McCalvy on Twitter. I second T Plush’s sentiment. Do the unthinkable, Stearns!
  7. This off season is obviously different, but MKE has been played like this too much in the past for me not to think that way. Look what happened a couple weeks ago. Step 1 - Brewers offer a deal to Yu. Step 2 - the stove heats up and besides a deal being offered, there’s little indication he’d prefer here compared to LA or Chi. There are rumblings he’d prefer those two. I haven’t seen anything nagative regarding MKE, but also, nothing positive. Don’t get me wrong, I like the signing if we can make it happen, mainly because what has transpired over the last week.
  8. Per Heyman, we’re still in the mix. Aka. The dodgers can’t afford him and he wants the cubs to offer more. *Your negative thought for the day.* https://www.fanragsports.com/brewers-strongly-in-mix-for-yu-darvish/
  9. It would take more than Domingo and Burnes! True. That was really well thought out.
  10. I’d hate to see Shomingo and Phillips getting such little playing time, but we’d have a monster bench. I’d also be good with a Burnes / Shomingo for Archer deal. Just like the Yelich deal, let’s deal for really good now instead of hoping what we have ends up being that good.
  11. I completely agree with the above stated Mejia assessment. You could argue he did more for himself than monte did over the last year.
  12. He’s my favorite interview in baseball. “I don't like to just talk about nothing, or less than nothing. If it's something interesting, I'm fine with it, but, 'Hey, Zack, how is your day?' People ask that, and somebody actually tells them what happened in their day? I don't have any real interest in that.” “To talk to people, I have to spend energy talking to them. If I expend my energy on talking to people and making friends, it takes away from the energy I could focus on getting ready to pitch.”
  13. If he was a FA, I’d be happy with 4/$100 considering his age, recent production and mileage. With a trade, I wouldn’t want to give up much, meaning Dbacks wouldn’t want to make a trade... they’d get a Lara in return while still paying him $60M to not play for them. On a separate note, if they were all 4/$100m deals, I’d take Yu (in a heartbeat) Zack Jake Considering Yu may get 6 years and I think Zack will produce better into his old age, I’d change the list to Zack Yu Jake Next question, what reasonable deal would you rather have Jake over the other two considering they’re suspected cost to acquire? 2/35M?? Some team will give Jake too many years, so I doubt this is an option.
  14. As far as controllable talent and whatnot, I was thinking it’s a 5-6 year window. A friend was arguing that the Cain / Yelich deals were bad because we have so much money tied up in an average OF. I disagree with the assessment that it’s average. Third year of this window, 2020, has the following, if I’m looking at contracts correctly. $45M in the OF guys in 2020. That’s not the end of the world, still manageable for us. With some Stearns creativity and success from the young players as the get older, I’ll stick with a 5-6 year window. Shaw - arb2 Arcia - arb1 Hader - pre arb Woodruff - pre arb Davies - arb 2 Piña - arb Knebel - arb 2(?) Nelson - arb (3?) Huira - pre arb Burnes - pre arb Ortiz - pre arb
  15. This is actually a futures contract. He’ll get paid $1M for a couple horrible innings this year, but $4M for a lights out year in 2019. Stearns is thinking ahead.
  16. Who’s the best Anthony Banda comp in our system? That’s who we’d trade.
  17. Maybe the fake Rosenthal knows something the real Rosenthal doesn’t.
  18. This is exactly what I was thinking. I think there’s a good chance he’ll outproduce Suppan and Garza, for a lot less money. We’ve got good arms coming. This is a great value pickup to help a bit now while the kids come up. What are the chances of his severely underperforming, in regards to his contract compared to someone like Arrieta or Yu?
  19. With this and the Kemp deal... what’s next? Utley and Howard go back to the Phillies?
  20. I am even more on board with the NL adopting the DH. I enjoy watching NL ball, but injuries to pitchers who are batting / running and the competitive advantage, I’m over it. I’m also torn with the angels. I’m a huge fan of the generational player, Trout, but I hate the team for the Pujols deal. Now this signing... this could possibly be one if the biggest ROI signings in our era. This will be fun to watch as it plays out. And as Stearns says, I’m glad he’s in the AL!!
  21. A plan for use has been discussed here already, but Otani sent out a league wide letter asking interested teams to tell him how they plan on using him. If I remember correctly, the schedule across the pond was something like... pitch on Sunday, everyone is off on Monday, play the field Tuesday through Friday. Rest on Saturday. We could offer something like that. With the extra three or four days off throughout the year, I think it would be worth giving him what he wants, as far as being a two way player. Realistically, we had a better chance of signing CC after his tenure here, but it’s fun talk discuss.
  22. Signing Gilbert Lara is how you get a Miggy though. Think about Monte. He was all tools and it’s finally coming together. I’m all about signing Mailan if we can fit it in. Most of this year’s international money is gone, from what I’ve seen.
  23. A few others have mentioned this, but I would like to see Hader in the same role as 2017 for his tenure here. I’m just 47 IP, Hader provided a ton of high leverage pitching. His WPA was 1.35, which is pretty damn good considering his IP. It can be argued he’s as valuable as Knebel in that role. Every year I watch the playoffs, it turns more and more into a playoff by bullpening. Three solid guys at the end and a Hader is invaluable.
  24. “2. 2010 navy Joe Inglett jersey, because it's hilariously obscure and it doesn't look huge on me.“ I ran into a guy downtown that had a game worn Mike Gonzalez spring training jersey. I recognized the name, number and era right away. I love seeing the obscure jerseys. I need to go to the clubhouse sale more often.
