  1. Well (ignoring defense) we can approx the runs he created using linear weights. Right now MLB is a 4.56 runs/game scoring environment, so halway between 4 and 5 for the above charts gives singles worth .468 runs and HR worth 1.395 runs. He was 5-5 with a 1B and 4 HR, so that would be (1).468 + (4)1.395 = 6.048 runs created. We then need to convert that to wins using this approximation. 9 * (7918 MLB runs/15482 MLB innings) *1.5 + 3 = 9.9, so last night (again excluding defense and position) Scooter produced 6.048/9.9 = .61 WAR Thanks! With 6.1 BR WAR, 10% of his careers worth was from one day. And no, he's not 5'10".
  2. Out of curiosity, does anyone know where to look up how much WAR he produced yesterday? I was astounded how much Thames produced, in terms of WAR over the first month. He pretty much made up for his contract in one month. Was that a $10M day for Scooter, in terms of salary per WAR?
  3. Does anyone see anyone in our system that has a good chance of cracking this extensive and star-studded list? If Hader figures it out, maybe he has the best shot. Woodruff and Burnes allegedly don't have the ceiling. Ace Chanderson, if he continues at this year's pace.
  4. Yuni B #2! (In blue)
  5. To take a step away from Q and Cubs dynasties for a moment... I do not see the rebuild as complete, but we are competing. I like it. I agree Broxton is a solid CF. I'd like to see DS sell and buy at the same time. As far as production, what would our expectation for Brinson be? If he produced Broxton numbers, we'd all be happy and I think that's a distinct possibility. Trade Broxton for minor leaguers DS loves. Then make a trade or two at the deadline to improve the bottom 10% of the 25 man. I can see something like that happening, where I'd be very surprised if we saw any blockbusters this summer, whether it's a big buy or big sell.
  6. As time goes on, you realize small nuances about players. I've noticed he walks like a robot. I now wonder if this is as a result of his leg injuries and not his normal gate. I'd have to go back and watch him earlier, but he looks extremely stiff, and that's just when he's walking. I agree to throw him on the DL.
  7. I'd put Corbin Burnes towards the top of the list. With all the discussion of our failures at growing our own starting pitching, his performance this year is very exciting.
  8. Dance with the one that brought you. I don't see this team as a contender IN the playoffs, mainly due to the pitching. I don't think it's close. If Guerra returns to last year's form, maybe they promote Woodruff to the rotation and throw Hader in the pen for the stretch run. Archer can bring his 3.42 era to Milwaukee. The bats in CO would give us a monster bench. That would be an improve team and we're not giving anything away. When you think about a trade that would improve the club more than the above moves, we're talking about a system altering trade moving multiple highly regarded prospects.
  9. I also don't get the negativity regarding this possible trade. If the upside of a trade this July is the Rodney - Paddock trade, I'd take that in a heartbeat. This is from MLB TR last summer... "In order to gain the low cost and relatively high-upside reliever, Miami had to part with a fairly intriguing prospect. Paddack was just an eighth-round pick in the 2015 draft, but he has been nothing short of remarkable at the Class A level in 2016. Over 28 1/3 innings, he has allowed a ridiculous nine hits and carries a brilliant 0.95 ERA with a 48-to-2 K/BB ratio. MLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo and Jim Callis rate him the 17th-best prospect on an poorly-regarded Marlins farm — the same offseason ranking he received from Baseball America — but it seems fair to say that his star is on the rise." Paddock is now rated a "50" overall pitching prospect that's still years away. Who wouldn't want to pay $4M to buy that prospect right now? Like others have said, worst case is Feliz gives up 84 homers and we pay him $6.5M to throw in the 5th. By that time, the youngsters will get the opportunity to close anyways.
  10. I, for one, am not antsy to deal him. I love the idea of keeping him, as I see him on the team when the Brewers are competitive again. The discussion of his trade value is a result of being in the midst of a rebuild. Like others have said, Stearns is on a trading spree. Let's get crazy and play hypotheticals. Let's say Gatewood makes a permanent switch to 1b and improves his contact and Gideon continues to mash. That would give us two viable 1b prospects. The discussion of a Thames trade is a legitimate conversation. Like Adambr2 says, we need to constantly have turnover.
  11. Let's say the Steamer projections are close to accurate. Is Thames someone we keep or are we still looking at flipping him? What is the cutoff for years left of control that were still trading away? I think the beginning of this year will stink, but we will be seeing a vastly improved team by 2018.
  12. Speaking of lists, I am confused about the recent Philly rumor. I doubt Philly is on his exempt list. His lists in the past were generally west coast teams and FL with the assumption the team would compete. I also don't see why Philly would trade for him, outside of filling the stands.
  13. I wasn't able to find the answer to this... when does Braun update his no-trade exempt teams. It seems the Rockies think they are contenders. Would CO be close enough to California to add them to his exempt list? Parra plus a far away prospect for Braun. From Braun's perspective, he'd be closer to Cali and be able to mash a mile high for half of his games. From the Rockies perspective, they are able to dump a crap contract in Parra and significantly upgrade the outfield, to go along with their big signing. From our perspective, we'd have to take on a crap contract, but we'd get a top end prospect in return. Parra is going to get paid less and for a shorter length of time. I don't see the GM wanting to significantly downgrade the starting lineup...
  14. And now he's with the Padres, after a waiver claim.
