  1. Mass, are you going to MASSHAASCHUSETTS? Good for you, and enjoy your much needed getaway. Thanks for doing that voodoo that you do so well.
  2. Rainy days and Mondays always get me down.
  3. You sure could do that if they'd have you.
  4. Crawford is an almost ideal candidate for a leadoff/cf guy. That would give the Brewers a position to trade outfield depth for pitching to help make up for the loss of a Gallardo type. Let's see, Clark, Jenkins, Mench, and Nix are certainly expendable. Hart and Gwynn probably stick. If the Brewers sign Graffanino with the prospect of starting him at 2b, you could put Weeks in LF, Crawford, in CF, and Hart in RF. That's a lot of speed in the OF, with Gwynn as a 4th/5th of and Hall as an occasional fill-in. That excites me a lot. Who the Brewers would get for pitching help in trade would probably be close to majors ready arms or average major league arms.
  5. We're going to lose Carlos Lee again?! (tongue in cheek) I agree with every guy that's been listed so far and I'd like to include Kyle Pawelczyk too. He's an intriguing guy. The scary thing is that there isn't much depth in the minor league system, especially with position players, as it looks right now. On the other hand, you could make a case for none of the AAA free agents to come back. I think the mods here are going to have a very busy off-season updating new players and tracking castoffs.
  6. I thought he was talkin' about catchin' some waves, bro!
  7. How about that?! I didn't know that. I think we're all pulling for him to achieve success. I didn't think he'd be in AAA this year at least. Good luck!
  8. True that! Rottino is probably locked in AAA for the remainder of the season, especially with no catcher ready for a promotion.
  9. Not a bad bench bat to have in September versus lefties, eh?! I'm all for him coming up in September unless the powers that be don't want to give him a 40-man spot until after the season.
  10. I'm guessing that Robbie didn't have any luck with arm health and tried to compete with arm woes anyway. He was highly touted. Perhaps rest is the best medicine for him now and he can field offers over the off-season. Wish you well Robbie!

  12. Has there already been a roster replacement named since Joe retired? I haven't seen or heard of a replacement yet. Good luck in your future endeavors, Joe. Your story is inspiring.

  14. Right DHonks! The hard part about that muscle is that in order to test it you have to make a movement in isolation with it. You never know how it feels or how it's healed until you test it. Testing it can aggravate the injury which can to more setbacks.
  15. Thanks Bench Coach...that's where I heard that also. I'm glad it wasn't just me that heard about Eveland getting an outside shot. That says a lot about him.
  16. He was coming into camp to compete for the 5 spot or bullpen. He was down on the list, but he was in genuine competition for a roster spot. It was an uphill battle at the start though, being down on the pecking order a little bit. I think you're harping on Bill Schroeder just a bit because I don't think you like his style, and are perhaps still peeved about the Fielder interview. True, he obviously didn't do his homework on that, but cut him some slack. Perhaps he's learned his lesson and/or had a stern talking to from his employer about it.
  17. If a pitcher were aiming for Barry Bonds' head, it shouldn't be a hard target for a professional to miss, if you get my drift in more ways than one.
  18. He also must be throwing the ball up. Take a look at his HR against. One about every 5 innings.
  19. I'm just glad we're not talking about the pros and cons of the strikeout again...sheesh!!! That thread was a prime candidate for a stop the insanity moment! Or, did I just open pandora's box again...if I did, I apologize in advance. Isn't it interesting rluzinski, that a walk and a stolen base nearly add up to the equivalent value of a single, using linear weights? Even though the guy is in scoring position, it still has near the same value...I'm baffled to a point.
  20. LV...I was primarily a center fielder, but I pitched a little past the high school level only out of necessity. I don't think I'm offering up any more insight than anyone who's ever had to learn to pitch on whatever level. It's a challenge trying to get your mind and body to work together to do something that it wasn't built to do (pitching). I've put off surgery on my shoulder for over 10 years in order to still play while I'm young enough to do so (36). I was supposed to have the same capsular shift surgery that Jeff D'Amico had. What do doctors know? They told me that if I had the surgery, I wouldn't be able to play again. It hurts like heck, but as soon as the kids are able to play ball without my help...I'll gitter done.
  21. LV...did you say the bases are juiced?! What's this world coming to? Next thing you know, Congress is interviewing the bases for alleged "juicing". The bases reply to that is, "After years and years of being stepped on, kicked around, and even pulled out of place, we've had it. We had to juice in order to stand up to the demands of the job. How would you like it if sombody put all of his weight on you with steel spikes?!" I rest my case!"
  22. LV...the first thing to go when experiencing dead arm is location...velocity is next. It's only called dead arm after its proven velocity is lost because velocity is measurable, whereas location is a tricky bugger. The time between loss of location and loss of velocity is the denial time period for the pitcher. If he's a competitor, he's gonna deny at first that his arm is tired...human nature. It's very common for starting pitchers to hit the wall two weeks before the season starts because that's when the stretching out in earnest begins. The only way to know for certain is if the pitcher is being honest to his coaches and then if the coaches in turn are honest in telling the media. Vic didn't pitch all winter under the advisement of the Brewer brass. He hasn't had that kind of time off in his career. My educated guess is dead arm, until he and the coaches say otherwise...that is unless he really really sucks then that theory is all shot to heck!
  23. JohnBriggs: You make excellent points about "dead arm" this time of spring. It's one of those easily forgotten things that many pitchers experience as they stretch their arms out in preparation for the season. (Sorry about the four prepositional phrases in a row.) I also think it's a good idea to keep the rotation righty, lefty, righty, lefty, and 5th guy to be determined as needed for the first couple months. Gotta keep the opposing batters on their toes. I also think that you and others are right with your opinion that starters may not have as much time to work things out if things don't go well for them when the season starts. More competition for the rotation slots naturally will make that happen. I'm just glad we don't have to experience another Ruben Quevedo scenario for as long as that went on...who's with me?!
  24. Clancy...I didn't hear the game, what was your suggestion for moving the right field fence in...? Thanks...
  25. Say it ain't so...http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif It's time for a personal lung mashing...where's my voodoocubs... In the words of the song from Blue Oyster Cult...I'm burnin', I'm burnin', I'm burnin' for you!!!
