  1. Craig Wilson could be to Gorman Thomas what Mini Me was to Austin Powers! As far as being beloved by Brewer fans that is! I've been hoping for a deal that would involve him for quite some time. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'd trade Mench for Wilson with minor leaguers to balance out the deal for both sides.
  2. Thanks molitor fan. I'm making that site a favorite. I noticed on that site that Jose Capellan has made 5 starts in the Dominican with an upper 2's ERA. I'd like to see if the powers that be at brewerfan.net could ask Brewer management for their take on him starting over the winter as opposed to being a bullpen guy. My opinion is that it can't hurt if he utilizes the time to try to develop a consistent 3rd pitch. Heck, I'd be happ with a consistent 1st or 2nd really. Perhaps I'm asking for too much on both counts, but I wanted to put that out there. It is my hope that Jose seizes the setup job this year and progresses to closer in waiting status. Again, I may be asking for too much. Oh well, 'tis the season for wish lists. An idea for another thread?
  3. Lithium, DHonks, and Howard Johnson is right. I'd guess that the next Power 50 would logically be out after the winter meetings. However, an organizational depth chart is all I want for Christmas. I spend lots of time on my own making depth charts, failing to realize that it's a waste of time because I haven't seen these guys play on a regular basis or at all actually. That's why I rely on people that are closer to the action, like Toby to tell it from their educated point of view, man crushes and all.
  4. And the San Andreas fault by the Mojave Desert in the Western Hemisphere, a left turn at Albuquerque.
  5. I think you make a good point doa. Considering what the free agent market conditions are now, both Mench and Jenkins are relative bargains and bargaining chips. Everything I've seen points to Mench as 28 also. He'll turn 29 on January 7th if memory serves.
  6. Zaun will be 36 next year but still is a better option than MIke Rivera, but at what cost though? He's a little below average defensively and a little more above average offensively at the catcher spot. What does an average catcher make these days at age 36? $3 million or more?
  7. I like both the proposed scenarios. TooLive, where did you see/hear about the Graffy vs. Fielder run-ins and can you elaborate?
  8. I don't know if anyone else has said it yet, but my vote is that he's signed by the California Penal League.
  9. Once again, I agree completely with pogo! I think the Brewers may get a AA soldier and call it even, just so Milwaukee can use that salary for another player. Beauty move in my opinion.
  10. How about prison in 2007 for tax evasion. Heck, that's how they got John Gotti!
  11. Doesn't Yankee stadium still have a short porch in right field? I'm not sayin'...I'm just sayin'.
  12. dadofandrew, would you prefer a RH leadoff hitter in general or are you referring to lineup balance from both sides of the plate with the current roster of players? Can you clarify?
  13. Once again, I'm a thread killer...
  14. If "Graffanino" is Italian for "Not going to be a Brewer in 2007", I wonder what "Favrefromgruven" means in German.
  15. Sammy Sosa should play up the road from Baltimore and play in Washington for the Senators. Wouldn't that be a riot after the Congressional hearings took place? Cripes, I thought him playing in Baltimore and having the power outage he had there was all the proof Congress needed to prove their case without admission on Sosa's part. Well, there goes that lame attempt at trying to be funny today...
  16. Yo, just to keep which Yo is the Yo we're talking about Yo, couldn't we call the new Yo, YoYo? All this talk of Yo is breaking my brain cells down Yo. I was thinking of Yo2, or Yo squared, but you can't type the little 2 on a computer. Dang the limitations of a computer. Dang youz to hell!
  17. I don't know...what was he accused of doing?
  18. I could potentially put up the same numbers as Magglio Ordonez too if given enough AB's. Not gonna happen. On the other hand, I don't think Mench will be that bad again either. We'll all be watching to see what moves happen and don't happen this offseason with teeth grinding...maybe I should speak for myself.
  19. You may see an improved pitching staff with G. Maddux in the rotation. I think that improvement would come from his presence, passing along tricks of the trade, mental approaches, etc. than you may see in his overall production on the mound. It would be a lot like having another pitching coach around. I think that would help M. Maddux's communication too because he'd have his brother around as an advocate and also another interpreter of his teaching style that only brothers understand. Holy crud, a sentence with 7 "a" words in a row. Time to lay off the caffeine, and sorry I brought it up.
  20. I thought I read here or dare I say elsewhere a couple years back that Burrell has a degenerative back condition? I hate to speculate, but I distinctly remember him having either a bad back, knee, toe, eyelash or something that was going to end his career sooner than normal. Does anybody else remember this? Beside that, I don't want him either.
  21. I don't think my eyes were deceiving me when I saw the K-train on the mound this year over years past. His gut is unquestionably larger in 2006 than it was when he was with the Brewers. There was an off-season, if I recall correctly, where he did lose some weight while in Milwaukee. I am positive he's more rotund now than he was pitching for the Brewers. I'd be willing to bet that some folks here have pictures of him in Milwaukee and somewhere, someone could find a picture of him with St. Louis. I'd like to do a before/after comparison.
  22. I don't think Ray King has much upside left. 23/20 K to BB last year. He used to be counted on for a 2/1 ratio but has been on the decrease, I think because of an increasing waistline and he's been in the top 10 in appearances for the last five years or so. True, he doesn't pitch much, but he finds ways to have rather high pitch counts when he's on the mound, and is used every other day. Throw in a $2.5 million dollar contract last year and wonder if money wouldn't be better spent elsewhere. I'd like to have him back in Milwaukee but at 30 pounds ago and a million less like he was back in the day. I think he's got to prove himself in 2007 and an incentive laden contract with a weight clause is what would be necessary if you were to invest in him the large sum he'd command. Bet he signs with a big payroll club for next year, even after I said all that because after all, he's a LOOGY with a pedigree. "He's bonafide." (from Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?)
  23. That would be a symptom of being very slow to making adjustments.
  24. Boy, Villy's 50 innings sure snuck up fast. Congrats to Villy and here's to hoping he's in the rotation next year, unless knocked out by a FA acquisition or trade(s).
