  1. Among the people that you absolutely need to trust, your doctor is one of them. It's your health that's in question - if there's anything that makes you doubt your doctor or his competency, make the switch. I don't mean to sound overly dramatic here, but it's 'only' your wrist that's hurting right now..what happens next time when it's your heart, prostate, or anything else vital?
  2. In no particular order.. Curt Schilling Derek Jeter Gary Sheffield Sammy Sosa
  3. I found the one that I was referring to earlier, it's called "Mad River Bar and Grill". www.wdtimes.com/articles/2006/03/18/in_times_square/times01.txt Well, I suppose that's two places I'd be checking out..
  4. Wikipedia answers all: The Roosevelt Hotel was closed in 1995 and subsequently renovated to the tune of $65 million dollars. Probably explains the difference in experience. I've never been inside, so I wouldn't know. Only time I visited NYC was back in 2003. I did all the touristy stuff and enjoyed the city in general. I'm looking into the possibility of working there post-graduation. Hopefully I can find some good Brewers bars around town. I have heard however, that there's a bar/restaurant operated by a UW alum that does Badgers game days there.
  5. For anyone (like myself) that missed the clip, it's now available online. Scott Van Pelt on ESPN Radio
  6. So I suppose this will quiet any little remaining talk there was post all-star game about having a Vegas-based NBA team..
  7. Man, not the news I wanted to wake up to this morning. RIP.
  8. ..any suggestions on hitting a home run at the Little League level? They are mowing me down like they're Danny Almonte.
  9. If these don't do it, I don't know what will. http://msnbcmedia3.msn.com/j/msnbc/Components/Photos/060520/060520_brawl_vlarge_12p.widec.jpg http://chicagoist.com/images/2004_07_sports_prior_injury.jpg http://fireloupiniella.files.wordpress.com/2006/10/cubs-fan-_1.jpg http://cubsfan.files.wordpress.com/2007/03/zambrano.jpg
  10. A friend of mine who just came back from a study abroad program happened to move in to our apartment two days ago, as scheduled. That part doesn't bug me at all, but what does bug me is that he is a Cubs fan and is arriving in my household right as the team is 3.5 games back.
  11. I was really hoping this would be an Arena Football League team..but oh well, I suppose we'll have to take what we can get. It's kind of like saying 'basketball is back!' but instead of an NBA team we get an ABA or CBA team. I never got a chance to attend a Mustangs game, but are the rules for the CIFL any different from the AFL?
  12. Here's the thing.....I don't really see how he has leverage. He's done jack squat in basketball. According to scouts, Yi held up well in international competition for Team China. While scouts can be wrong, there's good reason why he was a top-10 pick on everybody's draft board. To say that he does/doesn't have leverage is one thing, but his talent/potential is there.
  13. Straight to auction, even though I don't even have the hatred for Bonds that many do. On a related note..is there a cap on how many standing room only seats they sell at MP?
  14. Just to clarify, although the plant may or may not power parts of the city, the plant is located nowhere near Tokyo.
  15. Wow, what a disgustingly large ad board on the scoreboard in right field..
  16. Looking at the poll results right now (7/16, 12:15am), the only state that feels more strongly about the Cubs missing the playoffs than Wisconsin (60%) is Delaware (61%). Only a measly 298 votes has been cast by the state so far though. In related news, 18 people (9% of 198 votes) in Wyoming think that the Cubs will win the World Series.
  17. Park underneath Helen C., and then pray. ..that's what I've been doing recently anyway. I'm not there all day, but have been successful in parking there for 5-6 hours at a time whenever I have business to take care of in the area. I don't know what the deal is with MPD enforcement over summer, but I've gotten away without feeding the meters outside of the designated 'free parking' time. Now that I wrote that, I'm sure my luck will promptly run out tomorrow.
  18. Well, I suppose this reminds me of why I am here and not over there.

  20. Did Chorizo win the race today on Cerveceros Day? I figure this is probably covered in the IGT but thought this would be an appropriate thread for discussion. I haven't been to a game in a while so I can't say for sure, but I'm under the impression that the rookie's racing performance thus far hasn't been cutting the mustard thus far.
  21. The fan apparently wasn't aware that "this time, it counts." I was surprised that they not only didn't mention it, but didn't even show a replay of it. I was miffed about it at the time, but figured he might as well get them out of his system before the second half..
  22. I think the difference is that Matsuzaka would never have been released from his contract in Japan if he was simply going to enter a draft. His original team would essentially get nothing for him. I do think it would be interesting though if other international players that are pure free agents were subject to the regular MLB draft. In the NBA, many teams have the tendency to pick for potential over say, 4 year seniors. Would teams picking high in this hypothetical MLB draft select the young phenom out of high school, or an older player that has already established himself in Cuba and can possibly contribute immediately?
  23. Is Van Pelt the anchor from Wisconsin? I remember one of the regular SportsCenter guys being from WI..
  24. I thought they were even broadcasting Mariner games in Japan at one point? They typically broadcast either the Yankees (Matsui) game or the Mariners (Ichiro, Johjima) game live, sometimes both if the schedule allows for it. Whenever a marquee pitcher like Matsuzaka or Takahito Nomura is pitching, they'll often show that game instead.
