  1. Nunez might have been the backup utility IF if someone like Counsell/Hardy/Weeks went down. That seems odd to me.
  2. "that large" is tough to understand when you have nothing to compare it to. Maybe I assumed MS would write better than this.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. MS, what are replying to? I take a gym bag whether I'm going somewhere for a week or a day.
  4. Hawing is correct there. I would say more than a few of the bandwagon folks would not renew, leading to some better seats and packages for the rest.
  5. I think it's safe to say every team has a speedy little 2B in their system that can do a few things, but not have the bat for the big leagues. I like Crabbe for what he is, AAA depth for 2B and CF, but he's nowhere near Hernan, and I'm not sure Iribarren projects as an everyday guy. The idea that he's the answer, for anything, tells me that folks did not hear the question.
  6. Crabbe and Weeks simply cannot be compared. Take a gander at Rickie's AAA stats and weep.
  7. Given that they currently have DiFelice and Jackson in the bullpen, Julian would not be a bad choice for a stopgap. He's barely pitched enough in 2008 to make a judgment.
  8. Again, Callix is a minor league 2B, who has never shown he can play SS or 3B, any better than say, Jeff Cirillo played SS, for example. His minor league totals compare to Counsell's career line in the bigs (.369/.384). I just don't see him as anything other than minor league depth. Seriously, every organization has a Crabbe or two at AAA. His only quality year in the minors was in the hitter friendly PCL. He's pretty much the epitome of a guy unlikely to spend much time in the big leagues.
  9. I'd say his ceiling is Mark Sweeney, the bench player for many teams. If he could play league average 3B, maybe he could platoon for a year or two.
  10. It was very likely either sweet or stinger. The "heavier" one (about 130) had 4 in about 3 hours, and may have got a bit unhappy, but far from offensive.
  11. The dealers were oodles better than they had ever been before in then poker room, professional, fast, and I do not recall a single mistake (once in 6 hours, they almost dealt a card with one guy left to bet). I am hoping someone who was there writes in, as I left the name of the girls out as a fact checker. I have several e-mails already of people saying they love my tales of poker rooms, not to mention being a bit "uneasy" when talking to young, beautiful women.
  12. Story is up at Ramblings. If you want the quick version, I played poker with 2 incredibly attractive college aged girls, and am proud I did not embarrass myself. The end.
  13. If he retires, he won't be owed anything...so needless to say, it is unlikely he will retire.
  14. I went to HS with 2 of them...last I knew, they still lived in WI, or at least one of them did, as he plays in a band too.
  15. It was either sweet, stinger, or seven...I assume seven would be 7-up, so that would have made sense to me...so that wasn't it. Stinger would have sounded like a drink and not puzzled me, so I'm going with sweet...maybe one will write to correct me. Yeah, right.
  16. I am retelling the tale of my night at the poker room last night. 2 beautiful young women played at my table, and they kept ordering the same drink...vodka and __________. I believe it started with an S. I know nothing about mixed drinks except I'd prefer them without the booze taste. any help would be dandy.
  17. This may belong in the adults only forum.
  18. I would say on pure nostalgia, Vero Beach is the top choice, with the others just going on facilities and the like.
  19. Kimmel seems to be the only one who really tries to be funny...there's a lot of agendas elsewhere. Dave used to be hilarious, back when he went through the drive-thru at a Taco Bell over and over, or was the drive up guy at a Taco Bell. When he had the Asian-American store guy, in disguise, wait on tables. When the lady complained his fingers were in the water, Dave had him say, "It's my thumb". Rosie Perez guested on a Top 10 list and uttered the classic line, "Sometimes, big feet, just mean big feet."
  20. It's almost exactly 2 hours from the East side of Madison, I94 to my house near Wausau. 94 to 39, 100% interstate.
  21. I agree Ralph. What's especially ironic is I'd much rather have the draft picks, as I don't have to pay to sign them. Thatcher is a loogy, Inman is too short to be a healthy SP for his career, and Garrison is a middling guy. Now, one or more of these things may not end up being true (Inman could be Roy Oswalt Part 2), but as of right now, they are certainly not worth getting upset about.
  22. What's funny is, ABC has supposedly agreed to give Leno the 10:35 (Central) slot if he agrees to move, unique in that they have never done that before. Jay is still the ratings leader, and Conan and Dave will certainly split the "hip, sarcastic" audience, leaving Jay as a huge ratings leader. I now like Kimmel far more than anyone else, though Dave is still watchable. None of them can come close to the sheer hilarity of 2.5 Men, which is on locally here. EDIT: I don't get Fallon at all. I wish someone would have offered it to Tina Fey. Also, Jon Stewart will be taking over for Dave in a couple years...again, the youngsters will watch anyone other than Jay, and Jay will dominate the 40+ crowd.
  23. Counsell is still well above what Crabbe could ever be, based on his ability to play 2B, SS, and 3B very well, and a decent career OPS for an IF reserve. Callix is a longshot to ever have a fraction of Craig's career.
  24. I think it was just an MLB.com error.
