  1. No doubt he said Kaplan during the pre-game intros.
  2. I'll take it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. Braun never touched the fly ball in question, so that's never going to ruled an error. Most parks tend to avoid an error being given on anything but a routine play, except Miller Park, which is the outlier out of the 30 MLB stadiums.
  4. If the affiliate is really good, i suppose they'd like to keep it. That said, I'm sure most big league teams feel nothing but apathy about it.
  5. My question was whether that was the doorman or the person who did the video of him. MS did not make it clear, though I suppose I could have just assumed.
  6. Jamie, I'll do the 25 push-ups, but I'm gonna spread 'em out over 25 days.
  7. Does the Doorman post as Rickie 24?
  8. Doesn't Minnesota have a stipulation that all postseason games are to be played at the Metrodome anyway? Um, no. Sounds like an urban legend...I recall when I lived there many people said they should play at the St. Paul Saints little stadium (capacity 6-7K) and "move the game if it rains", as if that's a logistical possibility, never mind ridiculous. We're talking about a billion dollar business, the idea of playing some games at one place and then moving them if they make the playoffs is nonsensical. I'd love the roof to be open, but as I have said many times, women would be freezing, as would many fellas. I see plenty of sweatshirts and light jackets in the crowd today with the roof closed. No one looks hot.
  9. Thanks, mods can lock this if they wish.
  10. Could someone tell me what these stations are, call letters and frequency, and if they go out over the internet? Thanks.
  11. Brantley is a couple years ahead of his level...that's Yo type performance. He may be a bit of a one trick pony, but OBP is a mighty nice thing to possess, especially at 20..
  12. As Rotoworld pointed out, that's a lot for merely an "above-average" player. It's hard not to look at that and say, "Back in my day, only the stars made $10M per".
  13. I just thought that was Mark's belt buckle, but I guess it could be his wallet.
  14. Brantley is in my top 5. He keeps being pushed and he keeps succeeding...and he's still very young.
  15. Well, a bit off topic, but when Favre is a memory, a lot of the silliness will go away. I think it is safe to say the Packers are historically more popular, if you'd have the Packers going through a drought at the same time the Crew was winning, that could change, temporarily at least. Let's be blunt, football is a much better fit for a casual fan, much like Nascar is...a very small time commitment, you only need to know a couple players (or the driver), and so on. Add to it the worship of Brett, they get an extraordinary amount of coverage because even your 85 year-old neighbor has an opinion about it.
  16. As stated, Knight would bring oodles of publicity, if only for a year or two. He'd make a lot of alums and fans suddenly care a lot.
  17. Group tickets do get a discount, I think you need 25. The math is only limited by your imagination.
  18. I would care about Marquette basketball if they hired Knight...if ever so slight. Indiana is probably one of the best jobs in the country, with their tradition, conference, and basketball hotbed. It's also perfect because they are currently "down", or what passes for down in Hoosier country. Any coach would have taken it for that money.
  19. Maybe things have changed since the early-mid 90's, but no one had any respect for marketing then. To be honest, I'd take what you enjoy or will get you out quickest...it is not a huge deal to 95% of the companies.
  20. If a C can swing a bat without looking silly, he's a good prospect. OF's have to hit.
  21. The still photo is after the ball has been knocked closer to the field by the fan(s). There may be a human being who could have reached that ball, but it is not Alou.
  22. There are not really "rights and wrongs" about bullpen use. However, I would not have wasted Riske in the 9th, especially with Turnbow, Shouse, and McClung having yet to work.
  23. My first thought was that WSU is a better job, for a variety of reasons. I'd look for them to either go with a top assistant from a perennial top 25 team or a mid-major head coach, like Lickliter was last year.
  24. It seems obvious that the Royals did not allow Ben to pitch the way he wanted to. It's hard to believe he will ever has success as long as he has a "posse" that blames others for his inability to throw curves for strikes and spot his fastball. My goodness, one plus pitch is all it takes to be a relief guy, ask Matt Wise.
  25. I wondered the same about Pena. Also, it has been said Laporta will bounce between LF & RF this year, so Brantley will likely play all 3 spots.
