  1. Yes, Ms. Bundy was a very attractive and inept weather gal on one episode. When I was growing up, the NBC affiliate in Madison hired a stand-up comedian to be the weekend weather guy, and the irony here is, he wasn't a licensed weather person, and he wasn't very funny either. But, he could read a forecast and a weather warning as good as the next guy, if i would not have read it in the paper, I never would have known. As for Fox and Friends, I long for the days of the lovely (albeit very thin) Juliet Huddy (now on the Fox early show), but this morning Ainsley Earhardt may have made me forget about all other women for at least a few days. In keeping with the rules, I will not link to an image, but golly.
  2. I was sick on and off for 3 weeks; flu, walking pnuemonia, and so on. My boss said she thought I was quitting, as "who could be sick that long".
  3. OAK wants pre-arby guys or top prospects, not Dave Bush.
  4. Beane would have little interest in Bush, however Carlos V or Parra would make this doable. But, you'd open a gap without filling one.
  5. I have no doubt Jenkins will be booed by many, though it may be 50/50. 'Tis the price for having the fans packed with casual fans...thank goodness they are there, however.
  6. Dillon can play SS like Cirillo can...probably better, as Joe has played SS in the minors. That said, he is not a long-term sub at SS.
  7. On Ebay, they often go for a very fair amount on weekends. Wal Mart gtes theirs on Tuesday mornings, i think. Ask people who work there. Checxk the Sunday ads, stoeres will hold them back if they are advertised. Shopko and Game Stop are both "the road less traveled" from what I hear.
  8. Take a look at major league catchers, outside the top 5 in the game especially. Vinny can outhit most of them, if he can improve his defense and game calling, there's no reason he could not be a starter.
  9. Heh. Gagne was nowhere near the ballpark by the time a save situation appeared. Carlos V also needed the innings.
  10. Kapler was brought into be a reserve OF and a defensive replacement...his ceiling is meaningless. I think most everyone would prefer to have a guy brimming with talent get waived by someone and pass through waivers and have the Brewers pick him up, having the same skill set as Gabe. That seems a bit unlikely, however, due to the Crew's waiver position and the simple fact guys with talent like that are rarely waived.
  11. No room for a 2nd lefty, as McClung is out of options. This has been all but a given since early in camp, but unannounced to give the illusion of a competition. Likely the same for Eric Munson, those guys had jobs unless they were caught smoking a doobie or drowning puppies...but they leave their options open, in case they end up trading for one or something. In fact, rumor is the Crew asked about Laird to be a reserve, a perfect example...they like Munson, but not enough to not go after an upgrade.
  12. I'm still not sure of the Penthouse problem myself, though I realize it is off-topic. As I said, a Penthouse model can make a living in any variety of ways, and I wish her the best. I thought maybe she was naked but "covered" by Fox's moving black bars or something. As long as she was dressed, I see no problem with it. And yes, the Fox morning show always has some of the prettiest gals in the business (or possibly, they have less of an issue "showing them off"). The current weekday host, Gretchen Carlson, is a former pageant winner who is rather plain by comparison. As for Rocco, I'd say he was just unaware. I don't think it was mean, just sort of misinformed.
  13. I would happily sign almost any major league pitcher to a AAA deal. If Patterson has a clue, he'll sign with a team with much less depth.
  14. What's wrong with a Penthouse gal doing the weather? I mean, she has to make a living, and can read off a teleprompter just like anyone else.
  15. 15 days before the first game, by the way. The horror.
  16. Not based on major league production Al. Roberts--.351/.409, 760 Weeks---.357/.410, 767 Roberts is likely to regress, Weeks is likely to improve. I would assume Brian is a better defender, however.
  17. I don't understand the impatience either, the first game is 4/4. If you have them by 3/28, who cares? As for the "I gotta get the tickets to so and so", that's a shame, but as long as you have them by a week from tomorrow, you have many inexpensive options (guaranteed 2 day delivery) to send those tiks.
  18. Capuano and Gallardo will almost certainly open on the DL, as neither will be able to be at 100% on 3/31. Doug and Gord will certainly "assist" in picking the 25 man roster to help them keep all players of value they would otherwise lose. The idea they would lose a quality pitcher and then have to bring up an inferior arm at the first sign of injury or ineffectiveness is about as short-term thinking as you can get...and the team did not get where they are by looking at how to do the best over the first 15 games rather than 162.
  19. I never had grits until I tried them at a breakfast buffet when in the South on our honeymoon...awful. Of course, plain oatmeal is pretty bad too until you add some stuff to it.
  20. Weeks is better and cheaper than Roberts. I can't imagine.
  21. 200 inning starter for a 1B reserve? I'll pass.
  22. Particularly given Yost's seeming reluctance to go with strict platoons... Ned went with a Jenkins/Mench platoon last year until Dillon got hot in September, so he uses it nicely if that's the parts he has. As for Hart in CF and Joe in Rf, it seems rather obvious the team is going with a defense first vibe in CF, which isn't he end of the world as long as the solution is not Nix or such. Kapler and Gwynn both appear to be very good defenders, and Gross is probably a plus CF offensively, so the pieces seem to fit nicely to me.
  23. Gross needs a platoon partner as well. It seems quite obvious Kapler will play versus LHP's and the Gross/Gwynn will play versus the RHP's, some sort of "hot hand" scenario.
  24. None, barring a couple injuries/deals.
