  1. Prince will not offer the Crew a match, so wondering if they could match it is moot.
  2. I've been on Androgel (synthetic testosterone) for a medical issue for a few weeks now, and trust me, I'm still as unmuscular and dumpy looking as ever. I told the nurse today I feel like I'm on a placebo. She said it takes at least a month to kick in.
  3. 12-18 on 3's if memory serves. So often, teams just take the chance they'll miss and people wonder why they take so many 3's. If you're open, you almost have to take them, as they are such a huge thing if they fall. It was a close game tonight 'til Taylor and Gasser hit 3's on three consecutive trips. NW never got within single digits again. The whole game changed on those three trips down.
  4. Signing Oswalt and trading someone under contract would be a net gain, but it rarely happens. It wouldn't be Narveson, as that'd be a $6-7M payroll increase.
  5. Escobar played in 145 games and got 598 PA's while struggling to keep his OPS over 600. Far from sporadic to say the least, he played 6 games a week. What's funny is, Macha may not have been Mr. Friendly, but he ran the team almost identically to Roenicke. Give him Marcum and Greinke, he wins just as much, despite laughable attempts to paint him as odd. He did a fine job keeping mediocre, injury plagued teams close to .500.
  6. That final spot will probably be a RH bat with some versatility. Could well end up being Conrad, unless someone falls to the Crew. Hard to believe any proven player with power to speak of would sign with a team with the Crew's roster situation.
  7. Doug tried to sign a SP to a minor league deal last year, but had little luck due to the rotation already set in place, and this year, with Estrada, Fiers, and Peralta in reserve, will again.
  8. Nerdly as charged.
  9. With mentions of both Nady and Keppinger tonight, it's good to see some of you check out Ramblings on occasion.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. There is still one bench spot up for grabs. I've mentioned Keppinger and his splits as well, he'd be a useful player. However, I would think he'd gravitate more to a team with a more unsettled infield.
  11. They might well add one more player, Todd Coffey has been mentioned, or someone a lot like him, if they can get them cheap. Several players, Eric Farris especially, would seemingly easily clear waivers.
  12. Could open up a team for Jonny Gomes too.
  13. As with all club options, the player will be a free agent. EDIT: I assume the thought is he would still be under team control, being Aoki will only be in his 3rd year. I would assume it is written into the contract that if the option is declined, Aoki is to be released, and would be a free agent.
  14. I can't draw a circle. My son was thought to have intelligence issues when he was 3-4 because when he colored, he never stayed in the lines. Turns out, he didn't understand the point, nor did he care when told.
  15. Because of kids, I assume they sell more pop than beer. As someone who always roots for the underdog, I hope Dr. Pepper/Snapple wins the bidding war. It would be priceless to stand in line and hear: Do you have Coke or Pepsi? We have RC Cola and Diet Rite. Really? What country is this?
  16. Parra has very good numbers as a reliever in his career. Good bargain for $1.2M, if healthy. LHP's that throw 93 (and can hit 94-95) mph have value even if they have sucked. Considering Manny has had sporadic success, he's a good risk, for $700K over the minimum.
  17. Like cancelled and canceled, it's considered correct either way. Judgement does not come up on spell check.
  18. I can't imagine Farris being claimed on waivers, but Wheeler would likely pass through as well. At least Zelous (and Kjelgard) offer some power (Wheeler can play several spots too), which is in far greater demand than 2B that can run.
  19. I see the 15 articles remaining message every day now.
  20. I think they'd take Farris off the 40 before Bianchi. Eric is a AAA 2B, and not a really good one offensively.
  21. That's just being smarter than them. I never keep any e-mails because they can always be resent. If you do, however, more power to ya.
  22. Makes it even more remarkable Ronnie has lasted 15+ years. A vet told me once only half the dogs make it to 10, so considering my dog growing up lived until he was 23, I've been around the exceptions. Sorry for your soon to be loss. Dogs are an incredible blessing because of their simpleness.
  23. HOU had first crack, up to a dozen teams claimed him, and some may not have bothered if they heard the Astros did. Hard to believe the Mets could not get a hard throwing A baller for him.
  24. He can run and play SS at an above average level. Even if he can't hit at all, he is a solid utility infielder option just based on those two plus skills. No downside, nice ceiling, if he can get healthy.
