  1. 2010--5.25 w/o Brewers, 5.72 total 2009--3.81 w/o Brewers, 4.06 total Also, he did not get to face the Pirates, which probably would lower his ERA further.
  2. As said above, run. Run far, run fast, run like Mexican water through a first time tourist. Your priority has to be your daughter and your own sanity. Your gf may be a fine lady, but until she agrees her ex is a horrible person and puts her foot down, her life, and anyone she touches, is going to be hell. You need to have a diary of this idiot breaking the rules in their custody fight, and have it documented by the police, social workers, whoever. Does he any drug convictions? He should not have any custody if he is using illegal drugs and can't get his kids to school. Kids need discipline, and they're going to be in juvi by the time they're 14 with only a partial parent (no offense to your gf, as she barely has them, they have 1 parent half the time, that's 0.5, and kids should have 2, plus others that care about them). Half the kids in my son's gifted/talented class are "nutty" (I often say eccentric), just like you described, and are often the kid with behavioral issues, as they are bored, different, and so on. Your gf's son might fit in perfectly if he'd actually get to school and learn how to behave, but he's never going to learn that in a house with a druggie parent half the time. I'd file a police report as to the possible sexual abuse and get a full check-up, physical and psych, ASAP.
  3. I think he's being looked at as depth. He's a nice guy though, as he could easily platoon at 4 spots and not embarrass you, or possibly be above average.
  4. I'm probably one of the few that would happily give Washburn 1y/$2M. He, like any major league vet is a no-brainer on a minor league deal.
  5. Tom H seems to think he'll get a minor league deal, I think he might get 2 guaranteed years. He'll probably just get one with a buyout.
  6. Miller Park is not a bad LHP park. The Crew has hit lefties hard the last few years though, so it's likely just that. Heck, MP is a bit of a pitcher's park the past 3 years. Duke has the potential to win 15 games and make less than $1M, few SP's have that potential.
  7. He has a career 4.34 ERA, most of it in the AL, but has been very up and down. I love the fact he does not walk hardly anyone, and is successful despite pitching to contact. He'll get at least 3 years, and maybe 4, as limited as the market is.
  8. The Yankees have to pick up $10M a year of AJ's salary to even think about it, as they do not have a bad contract to swap.
  9. 45 SP's threw 200 innings, so that's 1.5 per team. Most do not. Not sure what's difficult to "get" in that mathematical equation. Yo's never thrown 200, so I guess he's not worth having either? Perhaps I should have said "every year," but you have a very small selection if you limit your list to 200 IP guys.
  10. His highest ERA in the AL since 2008 is 4.08. An average SP in the AL has about a 4.30-4.50 ERA, which would be a #3, so he's a #2, and a cheap one at that.
  11. I would assume that a team or three might see Farris as a decent 25th man...play some 2B, PR, PH...if a team has a good veteran infield, Eric would fit in nicely on many benches just to PR often. Meanwhile, Green is not athletic, so could only be used as a PH, for the most part.

  13. 3.5 xFIP is darn close to lower level ace material, and SP's don't throw 200 innings a year, they get banged up. If Nolasco isn't good enough, the available pitchers on the market may be down to Cliff Lee and Greinke.
  14. 3 years of Floyd, at that price, is worth more than a year of Prince, though you can't forget he brings 2 picks with him. If they miss out on Dunn, this might be something that will be reworked.
  15. Who would want to keep Green in the bigs all year, as a reserve 2B/3B? Seems unlikely at best.

  17. His bonus covers 7 years. If he didn't want it to blow on wine, women, and song, he should have played college ball right away.
  18. Nolasco seems to getting about as much attention as Grienke. I feel Shields or Garza is more Melvin's under the radar style.
  19. Dukan should have redshirted, he'll barely play at all. So sad to see a guy waste a year of eligibility getting 25 minutes...total.
  20. Kam Loe gets hit hard by LH hitters, always has. His success in the bullpen depends on being used properly. He's as bad a choice to be a SP as DiFelice was the year before. You can't ignore splits. CV does have an option, and I'd love it if we had enough depth to start him in the Nashville rotation. He was so-so at best, and has not really improved a bit since he was brought up from AA. He doesn't seem to pitch as well as his stuff would allow him to.
  21. Harang had 2 poor starts in April last year, back-to-back. Other than those, his 4.58 ERA fits right in with his 2008-2010 performance. Fangraphs also shows his velocity is the same, though it has dropped since his prime. He's not a 220 IP man anymore, but on a 1y/$5M deal, he's my favorite choice. He's also a big RHP, which is a known favorite of Doug. AJ's contract makes him untradeable right now.
  22. Brewer signed a standard deal, which includes renewals for 7 seasons. If he wants to quit after 4, I'd say he owes the Crew 43% of his bonus.
  23. Farris is 25 and has never hit above A+ ball. He and Lawrie are barely comparable. Eric is apparently a solid defender who runs fast, and may be a decent stopgap 2B. Lawrie is Braun if he never went to college and was from Canada.
  24. Technically illegal, but unless you take ads out or E-bay them, you can probably slip under MLB's eyes.
