  1. I like special, special kids with pure power bats. I'm very excited to see Hiura's performance next season. Especially at the 2nd base position. Cannot wait for June to see him in a Brewers uniform.
  2. Brian Snitker wins NL Manager of the Year. I can see why he won it, but I really feel Counsell deserved that award. Imo, Counsel did more with less and molded his coaching strategies perfectly for what the Brewers strengths and weaknesses were. *and Joe Maddon received one first place vote by a Chicago reporter. What a joke.
  3. 1. Ben Hendrickson 2.Mark Rogers 3. Mat Gamel 4. Taylor Green 5. Angel Salome 6. Dave Krynzel 7. Wily Peralta 8. Zach Braddock 9. Brett Lawrie 10. Victor Roache
  4. NBA Point Differentials 1- Milwaukee Bucks (+11.9) 2- Golden State Warriors (+11.1) 3- Toronto Raptors (+9.8) 4- Portland Trailblazers (+9.7) 5- Charlotte Hornets (+7.4) 6- Denver Nuggets (+6.4) 7- Los Angeles Clippers (+4.6) 8- Indiana Pacers (+2.7) The Bucks have played the other top 7 teams that have the highest point differential (5-2). They have also had the toughest schedule in the NBA so far this year. The talking heads are still saying Raptors, Celtics, now Sixers. Keep sleeping....
  5. The beauty of baseball. There is no right or wrong answer. Both these pitchers have the stuff that can project to be a high-end rotation arm. With both their small sample sizes, there is know way to decide who will be the better pitcher. Freddy is 22 and has proven to be effectively wild. I wouldn't be surprised for him to go 7 innings and give up 2 hits, or go 2 innings and walk 5. I suppose you can expect that for a 22 y/o with the type of delivery that he has. Freddy seems to have a combo of Fiers deception with Carter Capps/ Jordan Walden push off the rubber. That's a nice combination to have. His last game pitched vs the Dodgers he went 3 innings, no hits, 3BB, and 6Ks in a game where he was thrown into a fire. 3 weeks in between starts and he was dominant. His highest velocity all year was that game at 95.8 mph. With his growth and maturity, I wouldn't be surprised to see him sitting around 93mph and hitting 96-97 when he needs it. This guy oozes with potential, and frankly, he has already showcased the potential. Woodruff is a prototype for an ace. A big-country 6'4" 97+mph fastball with life, knockout slider, and a change up that is coming along (NLCS game 1: see Max Muncy). His career path reminds me a bit of Jimmy Nelson's. Great minor league numbers, decent to start his career, and you're just waiting for his breakout. I really think 2019 is when Woodruff becomes that dependable #2 type pitcher. You have to think his playoff run reaffirmed that he not only belongs in the majors, but he can go pitch for pitch with some of the best the league has to offer. Overall, Woodruff seems more refined and has the stuff that typically you want your pitchers to have. Freddy just seems to have it and he is so young and still developing. Unless the Brewers can get a game-changing player added to their team, I would have no issue keeping these guys on the squad. Heck, I wouldn't be opposed to see Woodruff/Hader tandem in the bullpen. That could cut every game to a 6 inning game.
  6. I want to see Woodruff hit dingers, therefore I want Woodruff starting every fifth day.
  7. So Burnes and Hiura. Basically. There is a steep drop off right now from Hiura to the next positional player. They may be willing to accept Turang or Lutz, but I have a feeling there will be better offers out there.
  8. Craig Mish‏ @CraigMish Sources also indicate Marlins are asking price on Realmuto is a high end young pitching prospect and a position player. A potential two for one.
  9. 1. Keston Hiura 2. Tristen Lutz 3. Zack Brown 4. Corey Ray 5. Brice Turang 6. Aaron Ashby 7. Lucas Erceg 8. Mauricio Dubon 9. Trey Supak 10. Joe Grey 11. Payton Henry 12. Carlos Rodriguez 13. Jacob Nottingham 14. Mario Feliciano 15. Marcos Diplan 16. Adrian Houser 17. Troy Stokes Jr 18. Jake Gatewood 19. Micah Bello 20. Trent Grisham 21. Pablo Abreu 22. Tyrone Taylor 23. Devon Williams 24. Caden Lemons 25. Je’Von Ward
  10. Not that they will all pan out, but I'd be surprised if the Marlins wanted four of our top OF prospects in back-to-back trades. I would think they would want a pitcher thrown in there. Never thought this would be a potential thing, but the Brewers would be really thin at the OF position in the minors. Overall, that seems like a nice haul for the Marlins. I would try to swap Lutz out for a pitching prospect.
  11. Make it happen Stearns! I would assume Keston would be part of the Realmuto trade? Segura does have a no trade clause, so I'm not sure if he would want to return to Milwaukee or not. He would also be moved to 2nd base which may not sit well with him either. Still fun to think about.
  12. Wouldn't be surprised to see him be a preseason top 15-20 prospect.
  13. Are you taking control into account? No way I'd trade 4 years of Yelich for 1 year of Arenado. I was taking in age and the position they play. Didn't take into consideration contract. You're right, there would be no way I'd trade for Arenado taking contract into play.
  14. For sure Trout Arenado Lindor Maybe Ohtani Corey Seager Walker Buehler Vlad Jr. *Hate the Red Sox, so I would never trade for Mookie.
  15. Was that a little "shot" at the end? The Reds made him feel wanted... Did the Brewers not do the same? I didn't take it as that way, but I could see how it could maybe be interpreted that way. I really think it just comes down to a higher pay and geographically being closer to home for him. I do think the Brewers had a chance to retain him though...
  16. DJ gives some reason for moving on to the Reds.
  17. Jon Heyman @JonHeyman Marwin did not receive a qualifying offer #astros 4:27 PM - 2 Nov 2018
  18. Jeff Passan @JeffPassan Sources: Charlie Morton is not expected to receive a qualifying offer from the Astros. He's going to generate big-time interest on a short-term deal -- probably two years with an option. 3:23 PM - 2 Nov 2018
  19. Trading for a catcher will always have that injury risk involved with it. Realmuto is really athletic for the catcher position which I think will help him stay healthier than a typical catcher. As far as performance risk, he has been pretty consistent for the last three years. Last year was a career year, but it wasn't like a 2006 Bill Hall where the season was an outlier. I think Realmuto's price would've/should've been highest last offseason. IMO, the Marlins are stupid for not trading him last offseason, and they will be stupid if they don't trade him this offseason.
  20. I agree that Nottingham is underrated and generally agree with not trading hiura for a 2 year rental. I think you generally underestimate what realmuto could fetch on the open market. Think Posey money if he stays at ceiling for 2more years. Massive if, but just saying that's a low contract. I'll say again though, hiura is no longer our top prospect. It goes either burnes, hiura, peralta or burnes, peralta, hiura. Not a knock on hiura, just those other guys had a ton of success at the mlb level at a very young age and are pitchers. I would consider peralta in a package for realmuto, but I'd want a usable mlb caliber player included with realmuto. And it certainly wouldn't be peralta and ray and Nottingham. Is two years of player control considered a rental? Either way, I think if the Brewers were to trade for Realmuto, they'd be well aware of the potential cost of his next contract. By the time Realmuto needs a new contract, Braun will be off the books. The only way the trade happens, imo, is if they have a really good feeling they can resign Realmuto.
  21. Gonna have to mine for gold like they did for DJ. That's just it. If we want to find the next DJ, it will probably be someone that no one has heard of. I doubt Stearns will be looking at the recycled pitching coaches that float from team to team on a yearly basis.
  22. Tom @Haudricourt Stearns would not reveal what the #Brewers offered Derek Johnson to stay but you just get the feeling the Reds must have stepped up in a big way with their offer. That's usually how it goes. 5:06 PM - 31 Oct 2018
  23. Obviously DJ feels Cincinnati is a more competent organization than Milwaukee. That should be a red flag. Or he just got paid way more money... Too early to speculate anything.
  24. You could say that about him joining the Brewers when he did. I would say the Reds are in a similar position as the Brewers were just a couple of years ago.
  25. This one hurts... I trust Stearns can find a good replacement for DJ, but I'm not sure how anyone could have done a better job than DJ.
