  1. They are close friends. I'm pretty sure Yelich was in Realmuto's wedding. He also lived with JT when they played in Miami. Both drafted in the same year and basically grew up together.
  2. Agreed. Hiura or a combo of Burnes, Peralta, Woodruff+ tier 2 prospects. Honestly, I would be on the fence about trading Hiura and wouldn't be willing to trade more than 1 pitching prospect in the other scenario. I love Hiura, but it's darn near impossible to find a serviceable catcher. If you can find a two-way catcher that is in his prime and controllable, I'm listening... The main problem with Realmuto potentially being shopped is that there will be a lot of suitors that have more to offer at this time than the Brewers do. I'm sure ATL, PHI, HOU, or LA would be willing to unload some prospects for him.
  3. Hiura's HR yesterday. Hiura's HR today (111.6 mph).
  4. From the expected starters, the defense is missing both d ends, both safeties, and a corner. They have an offensive guard playing de. Defense hasn't been all that bad considering the circumstances. The offense coming of the Orange Bowl had very high expectations. They have certainly not lived up to those expectations. Oline has been average, Taylor looks like the 2nd best rb on the team, and our qb hasn't taken that next step passed serviceable.
  5. Detroit fans were doing that to Blake Griffin. It happens just about everywhere.
  6. This was his first full season after missing almost all of 2017 and most of 2016 due to injury. He was showing signs of fatigue late in the year. This year was about building up his arm strength so I wouldn't read anything into his lack of callup in September. This exactly. Houser has an injury history and pitched 17 innings last year. He also pitched in the AFL, so it may be good to just kind of shut him down until next year. I would be very surprised if Houser isn't in the bullpen next year. I would read very little into him not being a September call up.
  7. What did Lee Tunnell not answer the phone fast enough? I wonder what the actual reasoning was considering the bullpen was the strength of the team. I understand DJ has a lot to do with it, along with having talented pitches, but seems a little harsh.
  8. Who would've guessed
  9. I don't think they are that dumb either, and that farm system is so stacked I don't know what they would be asking for. I think he was available last year, but this years production may keep him with the Braves. He wouldn't come too cheap either, but I think he'd be the type of player to look at if available.
  10. Camargo would be a player that I would have interest in. The Braves have an Austin Riley coming up to play 3B, so I wonder if Camargo could potentially be traded this offseason. Unless the Braves are about to give up on Swanson or they are willing to keep him for the Hernan Perez role, I think he would be a nice piece to add to this Brewers team.
  11. Jose Bautista (2012 - Age 30) - 5 years $64m Nelson Cruz (2015 - Age 34) - 4 years $57m Adrian Beltre (2011 - Age 32) - 5 years $80m **and of course Robinson Cano (2014 - Age 31) - 10 years $240m Donaldson, who will be 33 next year, was a top 5 WAR player 2011-2016, and would have been as well if he was healthy in 2017. Honestly, I have no idea what he will get, but I think there will be a team that is willing to pay "overpay" for him.
  12. Torres-Costa isn't eligible for minor league free agency until after the 2021 season. My guess is that the Brewers do not protect him and he doesn't get drafted considering there's not any guarantee he'll be ready for the beginning of the 2020 season either. Thank you. In that case, it would be hard to imagine any other scenario.
  13. A little off topic, but I wonder how his arbitration process will go (won't have to worry until '21 I think). With the way the Brewers changed the game this year, I wonder if he will be paid like a traditional set up pitcher or if there will be more of a hybrid category that will allow him to get more money. Or maybe the Brewers should just get him signed for a couple years past arbitration and get hat over with.
  14. Agreed. I'd be willing to 2 years for Donaldson with a mutual option or even player option attached to it. There were reports that before the year started he declined a 3 year extension worth $75 million or potentially more. He bet on himself this last year and we all know the result. I wouldn't be surprised to see a team willing to add a 3rd year to a contract because Donaldson is a heck of a player. That reoccurring calf injury plus his age can be a scary investment though.
  15. Thanks for the information. Since he won't qualify for the Rule 5 draft (for 2019) and may go unprotected/not picked, does he just become a free agent?
  16. I would guess he'll ask for 3 or 4 years for about $75-100 million. I could see a team giving him 3 years 45 million.
  17. Donaldson will be 33 when he plays his next game, so I doubt he will settle with a 1-year contract. I wouldn't have an issue with giving him a two year deal because he is exactly the type of player this team needs.
  18. I feel like we say this every offseason and trade deadline. I'm not saying it will for sure not happen, but I think we've seen that Stearns has a completely different perspective on his pitching staff than outsiders, and we have a much better future pitching staff already in place now than we did at this time last year. There's not a TOR or solid #2 type that won't cost us Keston Hiura, and I think that would be a really bad move. I think people (not saying you) are looking at losing Game 7 and thinking "Oh crap. I guess we really do need to go get an ace." I don't think Stearns is looking at it that way. I think he looks at it and says, "We started this at 68 wins. We went from there to 73, to 86, to 96 and one win away from a World Series. What we are doing is working and we are going to keep on going this direction." I think we say it every offseason, but did we really expect it? I know I was happy we didn't trade for a TOR SP because I wasn't sure exactly where this team stood. I think heading into this offseason it's clear there is a nice window for contending on a yearly basis which has not been the case in previous years. So I'm not sold on Stearns having a different perspective on SP's as opposed to Stearns didn't want to trade away prospects for a TOR starter when the team was still a year or two away from contending. I would not be surprised to see a high quality starter traded/signed to the Brewers in this offseason.
  19. Burnes specifically said he will throw four pitches if he goes back to starting. “I mixed in the curveball and slider out of the pen … obviously we didn’t throw the changeup much because we didn’t need a fourth pitch,” he said. “I’d mix it more in as a starter. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2018/10/21/brandon-woodruff-corbin-burnes-showcase-potential-2019-brewers-rotation/1694782002/ I'm not saying he will be effective as a starter, just that using the data for his time as a reliever does not reflect on how he would pitch in the rotation. Burnes' main focus this year in the minors was to work on the off speed pitches; specifically the change up. That, along with playing in Colorado Springs, were why is numbers looked more average than one would expect out of Burnes. It's also why he was in the minors longer than perhaps he needed to be since he transitioned to a RP for the year. His fastball/cutter/slider are quite obviously MLB ready. I have no doubts that Corbin will start the year out in the rotation.
  20. I would be pissed if Yelich gets booed. Yelich and Cain put he team on their back for the 2nd half of the season. Baseball is not a sport where you can just try harder and have more success. The only person who should be booed in the field is that Machado guy.
  21. Perhaps Jose Abreu? I view Abreu more of a discount version of Goldy, but he also hasn't had much talent around him in the recent years. Abreu is a FA and will be 32 next baseball season, so I'm not sure what his market will look like this offseason.
  22. My thoughts exactly. These team is really talented and most players are under team control, but there is no guarantee we will see this again for a long time. Win or lose, you have to take a step back and realize how special this run/team/season really is.
  23. Never really thought of that, but that's a good point. I would not want Schoop to come off the bench to try to provide any offense in a big moment. With the way CC manages, Schoop won't be playing more than half the game.
  24. Agreed with the no idea what to expect. All I hope for is that Gio gets out of the 1st with no runs and under 20 pitches. Important for that change up to be effective tonight.
  25. Here is a side by side with that Mike Trout guy. Those swings looks pretty darn similar.
