  1. Tigers looking good. 8-6, three outs to go!
  2. I'm still not over the 1981 Garden State Bowl. I still remember Willie Gault taking a kickoff to the house.
  3. The Brewers are 11 games over .500. That has been their high-water mark for the season. That makes the franchise 223 games under .500 all-time. If they win tonight, it will put the team at 222 games under .500 for the first time since June 20, 2002. The last time they were at: 200 games under .500-September 29, 2001. 90 wins this year and next would get them back there. 150-July 30, 1999 100-Sep 18, 1993 50-Sep 6, 1971 0-The team was 3-3 after six games in their first season. That is the last time the franchise has had a record that wasn't below .500. They lost their first three games, so the Brewers have never had an overall winning record. When Manny Pina struck out with the bases loaded on August 30, 2016 against the Cards, the Brewers dropped to 3561-3890, 329 games under. That was the most games under .500. Since then, they have gone 566-460. I am old enough to remember the first Brewer game against the Angels, and I want to live long enough to see this franchise get above .500. Disclaimer: I am not a data scientist. This is just eyeballing records and using Excel to keep a running W/L total.
  4. Hopefully Taillon comes back to earth as well. He's had a real nice middle of the season, but his last outing was rough.
  5. Do they want Adames back? I'm listening to offers.
  6. also nice to see Candelario with seven hits in two games with the Cubs.
  7. Unpopular take, even with me: 2023 Cubs are on the path of the 21 Braves and 19 Nationals
  8. Your use of the past tense is baffling to me. He's had 100 games! Look at Yount's numbers: .593 OPS in his third season. I love watching Turang play defense. The lineup could support his bat if there weren't 2-3 other guys struggling just as much. I will stay on the Brice Turang bandwagon.
  9. Ohtani pitches a complete game shutout in game 1. Hits a homer in game two. Second at bat, hits a second bomb, but grabs his rib cage after the swing. Matt Arnold, don’t trade for him now!
  10. Why wait three weeks when he’s gonna be a Brewer within 10 days?
  11. I’m sure Williams pouted after the trade. “Oh no, my path to becoming a closer has just opened up!” Do you think he wanted to be the 8th inning guy his whole career? He pitched great the last two months of 2022.
  12. I felt as if he was more concerned with being ambushed with a water cooler than talking to Sophia last night. Kept glancing over his shoulder.
  13. On Base Jace is on a tear! 5 for 5 with two homers yesterday, starts today with a 2-run double.
  14. Watching Pittsburgh beating the Giants 8-4. I hate that I’m jealous of the Pirates’ lineup. Especially that leadoff guy, McCutchen? The one with the .810 OPS.
  15. The Brewers don’t seem to get guys back ahead of schedule very often. It’s 60-days, then rehab, then another week, then rejoin the team on the next homestand.
  16. From the article above: By the end of it, Erceg navigated through the entirety of a potent Braves lineup on 47 pitches. He retired all nine batters faced, four via strikeout, and showed off a fastball that averaged 97.6 mph to go along with a wipeout slider and a power sinker that allowed him to keep the ball on the ground often.
  17. Brewers beat the Dodgers! We needed the optimism thread to get bumped. It's been 8 days without a post. Can't imagine why.
  18. It was on the posted menu at the Friday night Angels game. But still, thanks for the tip.
  19. Anyone heard how STL feels about the Contreras signing?
  20. NL Central went 7-29 last week.
  21. Brewers proving that a win is a win, no matter who you beat, and no amount of skepticism over the Pirates’ “easy opponents” can erase the memory of the crap series I just watched Milwaukee play.
  22. This may not be optimism, but it makes me happy: There are three teams that are 10 or more games out as April ended. They are, the As, Royals...and St. Louis.
