  1. Minors numbers are something to get excited about, if you don't produce you don't produce. Shaw came back up and didn't look better than he did in the early season. He's still missing fat FBs. If Grisham sucks for 2 weeks, people who are excited about him will admit he's not ready yet and want him sent back down.
  2. He's had seven at bats. Seven. Let's all get super irrational over it. Meanwhile, Hiura just recently suffered an 0 for 9 before hitting a double yesterday. Where are they handing out the torches and pitchforks? Batting .333 going into a small cold spell buys you a lot of patience. People are just sick of Shaw being miserable.
  3. Except that with the loss of Knebel and the implosion of Jeffress the model broke for a long time. You need 3 RP who are sub 3 high leverage. MKE has that. It just took a long time to figure them out and due to short comings in the starting group they are still getting bounced around. Hader Houser Peralta are all between 1.5 and 2.5 in the pen. The rest of the 8 need to pitch right around 4.0. Claudio hasn't been a bust. He's been a filler piece. Guerra filler piece. The loss of Knebel and the flame out by Jeffress has caused a ripple effect and had the team throwing a number of pen arms that couldn't manage to stay close to 4.0 era. Because all the starters we threw at the wall flopped this year. No Miley Chacin gem. No Guerra or Suter even. They didn't want to block the young arms and when they young arms didn't work the emegency options behind them didn't hit the mark. It's sustainable. You can always stock up, hit some miss some and do it all over again the next year cheaply. Year to year its not consistent. We dealt with the high of highs in 2018 and the low of lows in 2019.
  4. I thought the same thing. Gamel 7th Grisham 9th Would be perfect. Let's all jinx Shaw. No easing Grisham in. Starting in the psuedo lead off and CF. Here we go.
  5. Dylan File is doing work this year. With two pitches that nearly break a foot its amazing he isn't walking guys. And please Carlos Rodriquez.. please fill out your frame and add some power. The kid can just hit and hit and hit. RMV and he isn't 19 yet.
  6. Black will be worth it as long as he's willing to throw at Cubs. We need an enforcer. Not unless he goes all out and grows a sweet fu manchu. Add a Mohawk and I'm sold.
  7. Cubs 1-1 Cards 1-1 Crew 1-1 Lyles Albers Jeffress Guerra 8 IP and we win... and only score 4. Bit of an upset.
  8. Watch Braun swing at 2 balls and the announces gush over him poking a pitch 4 inches outside up the line. It would have been ball 4 if he handed chased one earlier. So let's recap. I jest about Braun. You get defensive. I digress. My tone is highly mistaken around here.
  9. I've never said Braun couldn't put his bat on the ball. I just wish he didn't try to be Vlad Guerrero. His Oswing started at 33% and ended around 42% for reference sake.
  10. Watch Braun swing at 2 balls and the announces gush over him poking a pitch 4 inches outside up the line. It would have been ball 4 if he handed chased one earlier.
  11. His OSwing% (% swung at pitch outside the zone) the last three years: 2017 38% 2018 36.3% 2019 38.9% He's been above 36% since 2014. Duh I should have checked there... so pre 2014...O-swing 31.7 Since 2014... O-swing 37.3 Career 34.2 Hasn't been since 2017... its been since 2014. That helps me feel less crazy.
  12. His plate discipline doesn't effect his K rate. He hits junk softly. To walk, you have to take at least 4 pitches. He's seen 5 total tonight. Braun's hard hit% the past 2 seasons are career highs, his soft hit% is the lowest of his career this season, this simply is not the case. He has hit the ball on the ground a little bit more which is an issue though. It isn't extreme and again it is just in the past year and a half. The concept that this is a long term trend simply is not true. This is absolutely stunning because I watch a lot of games with the game cast on to see pitch location after the fact. He's had prolonged bouts of swinging at garbage for at least the last 3 years where he went in the tank. The moment he started taking bad pitches he got hot.
  13. I'd agree, but say more things like this because it worked. If you hadn't typed this Grossman would have snagged that too.
  14. His plate discipline doesn't effect his K rate. He hits junk softly. To walk, you have to take at least 4 pitches. He's seen 5 total tonight.
  15. Yes, but he didn’t get a hit in his second AB tonight. So he is crap! Because it wasn't a joke... because I'm a liar. You say so.
  16. Careful. I don't want to you get flamed like I did. Here I'll pull the attention onto me. Braun has been the 4th best hitter at best in this lineup all year. Yet he bats 3rd. Vs RHP its 5th... lately 6th. He still bats 3rd. He is capable of plate discipline and for some reason swings at crap like Perez for bouts of time. When he actually waits for a pitch to hit he gets hot. Guy seems like a primadonna frankly. Guy lives in your brain, rent free, just the way he likes it. I don't think he cares a whole lot about anyone but him. That's half blue.
  17. This I do agree with. His plate discipline has taken a step back this year. THIS YEAR? Come on. Its been like that for a few years.
  18. When he actually waits for a pitch to hit, you know like the professional hitter he is lauded to be, he gets hot. Guy seems like a primadonna frankly.
  19. I was just screwing around. I figured I could joke without someone jumping down my throat. Forgot the climate of this forum. Secondly, the counter argument that all hits are equal is absurd. 3rd... Team has tried everyone else this year as starter. They've sucked and we stuck with them. Wilkerson has shown decently in his random spot starts over 3 years. That was ignored and they refuse to give him a chance. I hate seeing players who succeed in our system get completely overlooked... only to end up somewhere else and perform.
  20. So let's recap. I jest at Braun. You get defensive. I tell you to get over yourself You jest at me. That's the same? Holy crap, you ARE RYAN BRAUN! Or do you just troll people when they don't agree with you? You don't need to answer that, I know the answer.
