  1. We are seriously going to debate if a hit with no one on matters as much as a hit with someone on 3rd? You really wanna do that?
  2. Get over yourself BREW4 it was meant as lighthearted ribbing. Is there a color for that. Boy you guys are just looking for a fight tonight...
  3. Just stop. Go back to listing ERA’s or something. I get he's your hero but he has no business hitting there and I was getting at the fact that he got a hit when it didn't matter and got out with a runner on 3rd.
  4. This non-needle mover looked pretty good. If he can stop spiking the breaker, really good.
  5. In July Brewers played 24 games. Aguilar started 9 games Gamel started 9 games Braun only started 14 of 24 despite the short month Basically what I'm saying is... I see ample opportunities to start Grisham. If he can match Gamel's production there will be no harm. Gamel is coming off a 200/280/333 ops 613 july
  6. Do you really believe he forgot how to play defense? I certainly can't explain the dropoff this year, but it don't think he's destined for it to be a permanant issue. But while on the topic of poor comparisons, Yuni B.'s playoff success came as a 29 year old, and Arcia's was at 24. There's still reason to think Arcia can develop from that, where as Yuni was at his hypothetical peak, if he had that. As I said above, Escobar's dwar of 1.4 and 1.9 was strangely followed by a .6. Then a 1.5 by a .7. Ups and downs of baseball?
  7. But if you trade away a ton of prospects always chasing mediocre NOWS you'll never graduate anyone. They have played Shaw 61 games this year. They have played Aguilar 94 games this year. They let Burnes pitch 46 innings (and it seems longer than that) They sent Hiura BACK DOWN! If Grisham has 40 awful ABs (8 games) he'll be 1/10th of the problem that Aguilar and Shaw were. If he's miserable for 2 weeks... again he's still 1/10th of the problem that Aguilar and Shaw were. He's likely to make a minuscule difference. Aguilar Braun Gamel to Grisham Braun Gamel isn't going to make a huge difference, or do huge damage. Can't be worse than Shaw has been and a good long look let's us know what Braun should be practicing in the offseason. Maybe a move to 1st would make him more open to a trade.
  8. He really shouldn't be a top 5 prospect. His high floor is giving him a boost in the rankings. He'll play in the MLB so they overvalue the given. Even here, the board ranked him 7th and Keston graduated ahead of him. There are 3-4 guys who passed him and the only one who might have slipped behind him is Ray... and that's probably not the case. 9th-10th truly.
  9. How is Arcia like either of those two? Escobar's defense is elite compared to Arcia. Segura always had a higher ceiling than Arcia and a change of scenery for Jean was probably the best for him given the loss of his child, they aren't comparable at all. Sure, Arcia 'might' improve as a hitter. The risk that he does and you gave up on him too early isn't anything to lose sleep over, while a team that has a contention window needs to upgrade any and every position it can to maximize the return on that window. Most defenders of Arcia point to that hot streak during the very end of the season and playoffs. Sure Yuni Betancourt put together a very good playoffs in 2011. That's doesn't mean he wasn't an absolute horrible player. Funny how the timing of a hot streak can negate a career of crapitude for some... Hasn't Arcia been and elite defender every year before this year? Escobar at 23 with MKE was a 1.4 Dwar. Had a 1.5 and a 1.9 with KC at 24 and 26. Arcia was a 1.3 at the age of 22. Arcia is only a .4 so far this year at 24. Escobar was a .6 at 25. Escobar had a 1.9 a 1.5 and a 1.4 and 5 years that average .6. They are different? Career .258/.293/.636 Career .246/.296/.663 Maybe you have recency bias on the defensive down year by Arcia? It's just a bad idea to give up on 24 year olds who have put up a .277/.324/.731 season with a 1.3 Dwar at the age of 22 in the majors.
  10. I think it's Grandal going to 1B and Pina catching against tough lefties. For his career, Ben Gamel hits .273/.340/.748 vs LHP Pina .276/.348/.760 vs LHP Grisham 2019 .299/.409/1.018 vs RHP .303/.402/.989 vs LHP I really don't see the need to push Pina into the lineup.
  11. Oh they won't stop treating Braun like a legacy. It drives me nuts too. Yelich Hiura Grandal Moose Thames have out produced him. Yet he gets a lot of 3 hole ABs. It won't change, but he better start playing 1b. His defense can not be much worse than Aguilar. I also think Grisham will be a better LF than Braun. It's not hard to do.
  12. Awesome! It won't make us much better in the present but I hope he proves that when Braun is released in 2021 MKE won't lose anything and will save a nice chunk of money. Just hit .264/.324 with an OPS of .800 (Braun's last 3 years) (I expect a higher OBP but less power)
  13. So Arcia is bad, but going to be expensive in Arby? Moving on from him now would be fitting. We missed Escobar's best years. We missed Segura's best years. Why not miss Arcia's best years.
  14. Well the whole 'base promotions on AAA stats in San Antonio' has worked so well with Shaw and Saladino that they thought they can't wait to September for Grisham. Let's forget about the fact that he's destroyed everyone's numbers in AAA. Not just Shaw and Saladino but Hiura's too.
  15. Well there's been a topic running around for a few months on the Major League board with the title "Arcia - Glove vs. Bat", which may be a few pages down now. The highlights from an analysis of his offense and defense: 1) During his time in MLB, Arcia is ranked as the WORST hitter. 2) Every defensive metric places Arcia around the 10th best SS in baseball out of less than 30 Full-time qualifiers. So he stinks with the bat and his defense is nowhere near elite. He's pretty much replacement level. What is to love about that? Is there something to love about having 2 replacement level SSs?
  16. They are in on position to buy. They probably should have sold.
  17. 1st I can't read all the stuff you've sprayed all over the board. So to get it straight... So you'd send Ashby to the Reds for a Roark rental? That's the type of deal you wanted? A 4.25 run of the mill starter.
  18. Yeah man I mean like they should have totally added Synder, Bum and Stroman. What were they thinking? Just go all in with a weak hand!
  19. We all were expecting one decent starting pitcher, right? That didn't happen. This...all of this. As much as I wanted a "big" move, I would have been perfectly happy with a couple of Tanner Roark type acquisitions for the rotation. Instead they want to be taken seriously in a pennant race, when the only acquisition they make to their starting rotation is Jordan Lyles?? Really?? Sure, I get prices were high on the big fish, but it didn't cost Oakland much to get Roark. You couldn't have found two steady arms(at a lower cost) to put in the rotation now to at least give you a somewhat decent rotation until Woody gets back?? Yeah Chacin comes back...big deal, he's been AWFUL. Davies has been getting shelled..No, you realistically can't cover all of that, but if you go get two Tanner Roark types, you can at least likely "cover" up some of that. Which may be all that was necessary. To not come away with at least ONE reliable starter, if anyone says they are fine with that they are full of you know what.. You don't buy when you are under performing. That is what stupid teams do. That is what you want? MKE to do what stupid teams do? Enough already... no one was walking in the door and saving this season and making it a WS team. Why don't you get that. The price to add anything as big as you wanted would have obliterated the farm completely. That's not what smart teams do.
  20. Boy, this has not been a good deadline day for you. You know no one is expecting Grisham to duplicate his AAA numbers in MLB, right? Idk about that, they must be expecting HUGE things, no one wanted to deal him, and now they want him to start at least three times a week, you'd think he's the next Ken Griffey Jr right?? Everyone is basing how good he is off how well he is hitting in AAA...that is a FACT. But then say you can't use AAA #'s for guys like Saladino etc. Double standard. If he starts off like saladino did I can hear the excuses already "the kid doesn't play enough", or this or that or anything else they can think of. If he's as bad as Saladino there will NOT be a single person on these boards trying to run him back to AAA immediately like they are with Saladino, not one. It will be Counsell's fault for not playing him enough, or not hitting him in the order where he should..I'm grabbing my popcorn for this one, for sure. Can we bench this debbie downer for a couple days. The whining because we didn't acquire an Ace is quite intolerable. You do not call him up now to sit him on the bench. He plays 4 games a week immediately. That being said, trading Braun Gamel Aguilar starts for Braun Gamel Grisham starts isn't going to make a big impact.
  21. It's been a strange year. Woodruff arrived 3.75. Davies is having a great year 3.56. Chase is having a great year 3.81 as a starter. Gio doing Gio things 3.48. Hader 2.29. Peralta in the pen 2.52. Houser in the pen 1.47. Albers Gerra Claudio have been acceptable. Chacin fell off a cliff, Jeffress fell off a cliff, Knebel lost for the year. EVERYTHING else we threw at the wall flamed out in epic fashion. Last year there was Miley, Jennings, Barnes, Burnes, Lopez, Lyles all sub 4. Everything that came out of the wood work seemed to do an adequate job. Even Taylor Williams was an acceptable 4.25 ERA. This year, everyone they've tried has been Logan and Drake. Either we are seeing two back to back polar opposite statistical flukes. Or this is the DJ effect. There are too many good ERAs on this staff for this team to allow 4.69 runs per game. There are too many decent ERAs on this staff behind them for this team to allow 4.69 runs per game. Throwing stuff at the wall this year has been gas can after gas can. Just go look at Brewers baseball reference and look at the 2018 eras and the 2019 era. It's stark.
