  1. Cain has been a huge problem. He's supposed to be an OBP monster. He's been terrible. Yelich Moose Grandal Hiura Thames Braun Gamel have been more than enough.
  2. Because Braun and Cain have been better? In avg, or obp or ops? I'm sick of treating Braun like a legacy. Took them forever to get Grandal and Moose ahead of him in the order. Hiura's next. Batting in front of the pitcher? Batting Arcia pseudo lead off? It's clumsy all around.
  3. The brewers are absolutely desperate for a starter and keep flailing at it hoping something sticks. If MKE saw him as a starter you think he would have been given a chance ahead of signing Gio and trotting out Nelson. He beat Wilkerson and Jankins to it. That's not a qualification, that's a prayer.
  4. He was a starter in the minors and made the majors at the age of 22, then lost two years to TJ. Why was he a starter before, but not now after TJ? His stuff isn't good enough beyond the FB CB. It plays in the pen so leave him there.
  5. Peralta is young, has a track record of success as a starter going through the minors and has swing and miss stuff. For me, he has big upside still. Houser is who he is. That doesn’t mean he is terrible but he’s not good. He could be a decent BP arm. Wilkerson is another guy that is just an arm. Sometimes I wonder why he’s a 40-man guy. He really isn’t any good. My point is... Houser isn't a starter. Peralta really isn't a starter. He's been very average as a starter and out of the pen he's been another Hader. If we want to contend we have to see what we are. Starter poor and pen dominant. The problem is we keep pushing pen guys into starter roles. Give Wilkerson the ball 5 IP and if he has a decent day if you don't force non starts who are dominant pen pieces into the starting rotation the pen can lay waste to the last 4 innings.
  6. Just curious. Burnes isn't ready. Peralta is a pen guy. If Houser too is a pen guy. Who starts? Davies, Woodruff, Anderson? Chacin fell apart, Gio is injured, Jimmy is injured, Wilkerson hasn't been given the shot. They started with 10 options. Going 2 for 9 is hard to do. Some may even call it highly unlikely. Chacin isn’t going anywhere. And he looked much better his last start. He’s got a track record of being a guy that can turn it around. I would’ve went back to Peralta in the rotation before Houser. At no point in his minor league career was Houser ever a good starter. It felt like they finally found his niche for us. Woody, Davies, Chacin, Anderson, Peralta would be it for me right now. Heck, I would’ve thrown Burnes back in there before Houser. I know Chacin isn't going anywhere but if he was 2018 Chacin the staff would look a lot better. I don't disagree that Houser shouldn't be starting. But I say Peralta shouldn't be starting for the same reason. If we hold Houser out of the rotation because he hasn't succeeded as a starter why haven't we gone to Wilkerson yet?
  7. Was just thinking... Houser Peralta piggy back would probably look nice. There stretching him out. First time out 60 pitches, this game 70+, next game 80+, he’ll get there. Is this the new young guy you love? He's not that good. He's a FB CB pitcher. The slider and change are't good enough.
  9. Claudios last 16 games are what we signed up for. Hope he keeps it close to this for a long stretch.
  10. So we have about 900k to sign Holt and Floyd without losing a pick? As long as everyone below the 11th pick stays at 125k or less.
  11. Not just that, Hart was fine, Petricka was fine and dealt, Smith did a fine job.
  12. Burnes Nelson Peralta (as a starter) Chacin have been problematic. You got to find something that sticks. Low 4 era sticks. Wilkerson has been a starter forever. He has always struggled in relief and always been good as a starter. He's absolutely a AAAA guy. He's not going to set the world on fire. However, he could be a Fiers. I just don’t see it. Guy doesn’t even look like he belongs on the 40-man to me. Might very well be the case. However, when he's been in one role he's done the job. When he's been in the other role he's failed miserably. Let him start or get rid of him because putting him in the pen does him no favors. I also wouldn't mind seeing Luke Barker get a crack at the pen. His numbers dramatically ticked up this year and he's getting a lot more GOs.
  13. That's about as harsh as you can get without driving a bus.
  14. At this point the brewers should have 3 top 100 prospects. Hiura Turang Grisham I was ready to forget about Grisham. This year came out of nowhere.
  15. Yeah Harrison finished his break out in A+ at 21. Reference has him at .3 and 1.6 young for the levels. Grisham 1.7 and 4.3 young for AA and AAA. Higher OBP by 25 points. Higher OPS by 70 points and 5 HRs away from hitting the same total. 21 2 Teams 2 Lgs A+-A MIL 122 513 453 73 123 28 2 21 67 27 4 43 139 .272 .350 .481 .832 218 22 2 Teams 2 Lgs AA-AAAMIL 69 313 260 40 67 16 3 16 48 7 4 49 57 .258 . 375 .527 .902 137 On pace to smash those numbers, outpacing Harrison this year in everything but SB. While being a year younger. Both HS kids. Grisham drafted higher than Harrison. When a top 15 pick explodes... he's gotta get in the top 100 doesn't he?
