  1. Looking back at the Dillon pick, I didn’t realize that both Jones and Williams are in the final year of their contracts. I imagine that the drafting of Dillon is because Gute doesn’t see the Packers being able to bring both back. And if they are able to do so, they will have a loaded backfield where Jones might see a little more time as a receiver. Negating the need to draft a wide receiver. Maybe even Jones is dangled as a trade piece for an early round draft pick this offseason. There are a lot of different routes they could go. It’ll be interesting to see how the rest of the offseason plays out.
  2. He's headed to Carolina. Big fan of Orr and felt that he would be a productive NFL linebacker for some lucky team to draft him. Shocked that somebody didn’t draft him. I would of loved to see the Packers take a flier on him. Little bit of an unpopular opinion, but I feel like Orr could have a better career than Baun. He’s one of those guys that everybody looks over, but could really surprise people and put together a nice career.
  3. Im still long ATHX. My portfolio is up 186% since March 1. The CEO just did an interview on Fox News today. We will see double digits soon. Bought into ATHX after you initially mentioned it in here a few weeks ago. Couldn’t be happier with the investment so far! Very promising company that could be a real player in the Covid fight.
  4. Hoping for CB Luq Barcoo simply because of his name. Everybody will want a Barcoo jersey!
  5. I would love to see the Packers draft QB Jake Fromm if he’s somehow still there at 175. That would be hilarious. Don’t really know if I would laugh, cry, or both. But that would put the cherry on top for me. He would actually be a very nice pick at this point if we didn’t draft Love, but unfortunately it is what it is. WR James Proche would be a nice get if he’s still available.
  6. Extremely disappointed with this draft. Not saying that Love won’t be good in the future, but Rodgers has said that he wants to play into his 40’s he is under contract for 4 more years. This type of pick was 2 years too early in my opinion. Dillon is a fine player if we needed a running back, but we already have a pretty dynamic backfield with Jones and Williams. Unless one of those two is on the move, this pick as well as the Love pick truly does not make us better. Jones and Dillon won’t be on the field at the same time. Love will be on the bench. Our first two picks literally did not improve the team RIGHT NOW. Deguara I suppose is a fine pick at best. Our third round pick last year in Sternberger must not be progressing as they hoped. Is he going to be THE guy to lead the TE position for us in 2020? If not, then this is a head scratcher as well. My big gripe is the first two picks. Instead of improving the team now by bringing in basically anything else (OL, DL, LB, WR, CB), we brought in guys that are blocked. If you wanted a quality backup QB, should of signed someone like Brian Hoyer and used the first on something else. Very unimpressed with Gute’s first 3 drafts. I have yet to read and catch up with others’ opinion on the draft and will do so. But I will gladly say that Gute can go and I would be perfectly fine with it. His three drafts are more than enough in my opinion to see that his talent evaluation and decision making through the draft is not where it needs to be. On top of that, pissing off your franchise QB who plans on playing another half decade for you certainly isn’t ideal.
  7. Hoping to see the Packers trade up and get one of Jeudy, Ruggs, Lamb, or Jefferson with Jefferson being the most likely target and one to be available at a position to trade up to. I think trading up to the 18-21 range is where they would need to target to snag someone like Jefferson (and steal him from right under Minnesota’s nose!). With the Dolphins, Raiders, and Jaguars in the 18-20 spots and already making a selection higher up in the draft, one of them might be willing to trade back to add some extra draft capital. If they aren’t able to get one of those 4, I would like to see them target the linebacker position or trade back.
  8. MLBPA has told players to live where they feel most comfortable for “at least” the next 4-6 weeks.
  9. I ordered 3 jerseys from dhgate (China) on February 1st, they were shipped on March 3rd, and I finally received them on Friday, March 13th. With the Coronavirus situation going on and really coming on shortly after my order, I figured it would take a long time to receive them. I was surprised they were even allowed to send the package out and was thinking I wouldn’t receive it until the Coronavirus pandemic had passed. After spraying all of the packaging with Lysol, I was pleasantly surprised that all 3 jerseys were done correctly. I ordered a Woodruff jersey in the cream home color and am a little disappointed in the color of the jersey, but everything else is correct on it. That’s more of a personal preference of seeing the cream jersey color up close than an actual issue with the product. I had to custom order Urias and Hiura jerseys in the road navy color since the dealer I purchased through did not have them as one of the jerseys listed. Surprisingly, both turned out great. The color is great on the navy jerseys, the lettering and spelling is accurate and the proper size, and the numbers are correct as well. The 50th anniversary patch on all of the jerseys are cheap and rough looking on the stitching around the patch, but the patches on the other sleeve are all well done. It is just the 50th anniversary patches that look rough. All of the jerseys had a couple loose stitchings to trim off from either the name on the back or near the buttons on the front after being washed, but all in all they look great. For $65, I got 3 of their new jerseys that honestly look great. For what I paid, the quality was much better than I was expecting. I was initially hoping for 2 of the 3 to be done correctly and I would be pleased. 3 for 3 is fantastic. I would totally recommend going this route if you’re willing to receive packages from China amid the Coronavirus outbreak. The place I ordered from is about 600 miles from Wuhan. If I start getting some symptoms of the Coronavirus within the next couple weeks, I will have an idea of where I got it from!
  10. I see no way that the MLB schedule gets going before June 1st or so. That would still give them something around 100 games. If someone just contracted the Coronavirus today, don’t show symptoms for 2 weeks, and then gets sick, they will need to be quarantined and receiving medical treatment for a couple weeks beyond that at the least. A 4-5 week shutdown before resuming baseball activities is the bare minimum with it realistically needing to go longer than that. You have to assume (in my opinion) that the day of the shutdown of the sports is the first day of someone contracting the Coronavirus. Since it was only yesterday that they shut it down, the clock would start now. Not if, but when another professional athlete is diagnosed with it and we hear about it a week or two from now, we certainly will not be starting baseball activities a few days after additional positive test results pop up. I think best case scenario, players will report to “Spring Training” by the end of April and need at least 3 weeks or so to ramp up again and play 10-15 games to get the pitchers stretched out a little bit again. This would already put you into late May. A 100 game season or so is the best case scenario in my opinion.
  11. Circuit breaker tripped twice in 4 days after never needing to be used since implementation. This is a pretty wild drop the last few weeks and I’m not sure it’s going to stop quite yet. Over 26% drop for DOW the last few weeks.
  12. Depends on the buyout. If they do the buyout in 2029, he gets $2.5 million from 2031-2042 (12 years, $30 million). If they don't buyout, he gets $2.3 million from 2031-2041 (11 years, $28 million). Interestingly, Braun's deferred money ends in 2031, so they overlap by 1 year. And Garza's deferred money ends in 2021, right before Braun's kicks in. So they're paying deferred money from 2018-2042. You are correct. I forgot about the buyout in 2029. I’m not a big fan of deferring money, but I can understand it. $2 million in 2035 will be fairly insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
  13. Brewers will be paying Yelich his deferred money through the 2042 season. Looks like it will be $2 million per season for 14 years.
  14. Pretty remarkable end to the season. Big win today for the Badgers. Who would have thought they would win a share of the Big 10 title?
  15. After the hot start, this sure turned into a “me” type of offensive game for Wisconsin.
  16. I think it’s odd how people actually want to explore trading away our starting pitching. After what we saw last year during the first 6 weeks, I’m surprised that people want to deplete the talent we do have. Anderson is only on a 1 year deal and certainly isn’t a lock to stay healthy all year. Why would we explore moving an arm with 4+ years of control for a stopgap arm? The only reliable options we currently have are Woodruff, Lauer, and Anderson to an extent. You know what you’re getting with Woodruff and Lauer, who both have potential to continue developing. Houser, Lindblom, Peralta, Burnes, and Shelby Miller are all basically wild cards up to this point. Houser is where Burnes and Peralta were last year to start the season. Anderson is an injury risk. Burnes has all the tools, but is a wild card at this point. We may have some intriguing options with guys that might be pretty good, but there’s always underperformers every season. Trading away our depth certainly isn’t going to help.
  17. Sounds like Yelich went up to Mark to express his interest in remaining with the Brewers and that the first time he and the Brewers sat down to discuss a long term deal was back on Halloween. Glad that the deal got done and that Christian will be with Milwaukee for the rest of his career!
  18. Just an idea they can explore is that they don’t need a 5th starter until I believe the 4th time through the rotation because of off days. Also, because of the frequent off days, they could possibly start the year with 12 pitchers on the roster even if it’s only for a week or two until something comes up or an extra inning game forces a move to be made. Similar to the Choi situation from a couple years ago in a way.
  19. One of the broadcasters brought up during the game that this Bucks defense isn’t just an elite defensive team, but the number 8 defensive team EVER.
  20. The stock market the last week... Eesh... Over 3,500 point drop. I feel like it’s going to continue into next week.
  21. https://www.mlb.com/news/ethan-small-develops-new-pitch Sounds like Small is working on developing a slider to add to his mix of pitches. If he can learn to throw even an average slider, he could really blossom as a starting pitcher. He already has 3 pretty good offerings.
  22. Counsell was on HighHeat today. Here’s a list of a few key notes he shared. Knebel will hopefully return by early May. Peralta and Lauer are battling for the 5th spot with the other going into the bullpen. He expects a Sogard, Holt, Gyorko (named in that order) platoon at third. SS is up in the air now that Urias is hurt and possibly will miss the start of the season. It opens the door for someone like Arcia to try to win that spot. (Sounds like Urias was/is expected to be the everyday SS). They expect big things from Garcia this season in the outfield and think that Narvaez will also have a big impact as the primary catcher.
  23. Locking Freddy up at that cost could pay off huge for Milwaukee even if he becomes just a mid-rotation starter. His ceiling is well beyond that though. Even if he becomes just an average reliever, the price of only $3 million or so is pretty team friendly as well. He has the stuff to be a bullpen weapon, but if he makes it in the rotation long term, this will be an extremely team friendly deal.
  24. Did you forget about Max Lazar or did he not make your list?
  25. This is also why I was advocating for an additional OF add. Braun will need 50 games off while also playing half his games at first, Cain and Yelich will both get 15 games off. Garcia won’t play everyday either. That’s not even including injuries. I would much rather have another solid bat that can start 100 games than Gamel personally. But I do agree that at this point, we need to retain Gamel as he is most likely the next guy up in the pecking order.
