  1. Seems like the Cubs are feeling the pressure. But it’s not a rivalry... At least, so I’ve heard
  2. Nope, Brady Clark. He’s baaaaack!
  3. I think the Brewers will do their due diligence on him, but won’t end up getting him. I think we could be surprised and see the Brewers make a legit run at landing him, but somebody else will give him more than what the Brewers will offer. I think he will get something along the lines of 7/$210 million. I could see the Brewers being a player for him and would personally feel comfortable in the neighborhood of 6/$160 million for him, but I don’t think that will get it done. If I had to pick between Cole and Rendon though, I would love to add Rendon. Pair him with Yelich, Hiura, Grisham, Braun, Cain, and Thames and there would be a very nice balance of lefties and righties up and down the lineup.
  4. I’m just curious which of Clayton Kershaw, Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole, Walker Buehler, and Jacob deGrom you rank lower than Woodruff. There are plenty others like Greinke, Strasburg, and Ryu that you could probably add to that list as well.
  5. If you knew all this would happen why did you want to fire Stearns for not selling high on Yelich & Hader at the deadline? *Mic Drop*
  6. Just imagining how this would look makes me laugh. Yeah that was a pretty awesome thought of Yelich butt-scooting down the line!
  7. Clancy also has Suter catching on days he isn't pitching. Don't think I went so far as to have him catching... But really, it was just looking at some stat lines... and figured something good was happening. Especially after his first run at Colorado Springs - where pitchers get clubbed like baby seals in the Canadian arctic - and he was posting a sub-4.00 ERA. The stats don't always work. I got burned by Ronnie Gideon, but I think that same approach worked well in pegging the (eventual) success of Garrett Cooper. I think Troy Stokes will be seen as one the Crew let get away, and we will wish he was still a Brewer pretty soon. I think David Fry may be a better catcher prospect than Feliciano and Henry - although Feliciano could make it very very very close. I think Roegner and Sunitsch will be just as good as Small and Ashby. Just look at my Top 25 ballots - you may find some interesting folks to keep an eye on. Well done Clancy, well done!
  8. Hopefully the smell of another postseason birth gets them in gear down the stretch to make a run at getting in. Take 3/4 against Miami and we will be sitting pretty.
  9. He would be the 2nd player in MLB history with a 45/35 season if he does fall short of 50 home runs, but gets a few more stolen bases. Only other player to do that is Alfonso Soriano.
  10. That was my first thought too. Just seems like a guy the Patriots will take. I kinda hope the Packers explore bringing him in. I wouldn’t mind having Adams and Brown as our 1-2 punch.
  11. Lyles and Houser have been good. Our bullpen has stabilized. But 3/5 of our starters have been a mess. Our pitching in August was bad. Not sure what I'm supposed to be seeing. I just looked and our pitching in August gave up the highest OPS it has all year. You’re not supposed to use stats and facts, you’re supposed to use your eyes... Come on tmwiese55...
  12. I would feel comfortable with bringing Pomeranz back on a 2/$6-8 million contract. He has done well with the Brewers, but that is only in a 15 inning sample Also, he does walk quite a few guys which could really turn some teams away. His BB/9 the last two years is comparable to Freddy Peralta. The last thing teams want is a guy coming out of the bullpen walking guys. I think that will be a big reason that his market won’t be as strong as some people think it will be.
  13. He’s slumping, that’s all. He’s also young and needs to play every day, which he should be doing. Even as bad as he’s been lately, he’s working the count, occasionally getting on via the bb. He’ll hit, if he plays. He could be really tired though... He’s been playing everyday in the minors and now is expected to keep playing when he has no energy. That’s why he’s playing poorly, working counts, and taking walks because he’s saving energy by not swinging the bat.
  14. I would guess that they leave Rasmussen in AA to start next season. If he does well the first month or so, I could see him bumped to AAA. Would love to see his BB/9 drop to around 3 though. If he can do that, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in Milwaukee at some point next season.
  15. Really like the trade. If he is any type of reliable bullpen piece, we have him for 6 years. His BB/9 is concerning though. Not much risk in this trade, but quite a bit of upside from the Brewers’ side of the trade.
  16. Looks like Brian Hoyer is signing a 3 year, $12 million contract with the Colts.
  17. I think it’s fair to still hope that the Brewers somehow get hot and make it in. Do I think it’s going to happen? No. But do I still hold out hope that they rattle off 13 of 15 over a stretch and somehow squeak in? Absolutely.
  18. I didn’t think we would be picking up his 2020 option, but I’m surprised we didn’t just hold onto him through the end of the season.
  19. Hoyer is a competent game manager that I would definitely like to see the Packers explore bringing in to backup Rodgers. If he ended up starting a few games for us, he would at least give the team a chance to win each week.
  20. Feliciano was recently promoted to AA so I would guess that Fry would open 2020 in Carolina. It’s probably in both of their best interests to get as much work behind the plate as they can to continue working on their craft instead of taking reps away from each of them by splitting the playing time.
  21. I heard that as well. He was tipping his pitches and the coaching staff didn’t pick up on it in Pittsburgh. The Brewers pointed it out to him after acquiring him and had him correct the issue. I wouldn’t mind bringing him back on a one year deal for about $3-4 million as rotation depth and using him in the bullpen as well as the rotation as needed. I don’t think he will command more than that in free agency.
  22. Literally no one insinuated that they did. Just that it might be wise to not press him to get back for this season. If the playoffs (which are already a long shot) aren't a realistic thing in a week or so, what is the point in bringing him back? Thank you. I was implying that if we are 8 games back with 15 games to go, what do we gain by rushing him back? If we are one or two games back by then, yeah sure we can give it a shot. But if we continue to falter and need to rely on a 13-2 finish to end the year, what do we gain by having Woodruff pitch 2 or 3 times? Let him get healthy and lead the rotation heading into 2020 instead of risking him making an injury worse or overcompensating for that injury and causing a new issue to arise.
  23. Absolutely. I think it is wise for the Brewers to hold Woodruff back from pitching again this season and make sure he is 100% heading into 2020. I don’t see the Brewers making the playoffs, but even if they did, they would need a lot more than Woodruff to make a real run at the World Series. There just is not enough high end pitching talent on the roster this season.
  24. Yeah, I don’t see how anyone could take our pitching staff over Scherzer, Strasburg, and Corbin or DeGrom, Syndergaard, Stroman, and Wheeler. Outside of the Astros and possibly the Dodgers, those two staffs are vying for the best there is.
  25. Grandal has almost a .400 OBP, IN THE MAJORS, over the past 28 days... also roughly a month. DO. YOUR. HOMEWORK. Testament to his superior eye at the plate, BB’s up, swinging takes energy, probably resting when he can. Are you actually suggesting that Grandal is only walking so much because he’s conserving energy by not swinging the bat since he is so tired?
