  1. Keon is just a better version of Arcia (better defense, better offense), so I don't see why it's crazy. Having an elite defender in the outfield at Coors is more valuable than you may realize. Removing one of your hottest hitters in Braun, who is still a big presence in the lineup that is a threat to go deep every time he steps up to the plate, after 4 innings and taking at least 2 maybe 3 at bats away from him is the major downfall. I would want 3 extra at bats from Braun over Broxton every day of the week.
  2. I am interested in purchasing two tickets to game 2 and game 7 of the NLCS if anybody has extra tickets. I will be purchasing tickets tomorrow in the Wisconsin sale if I’m unable to get tickets today from another Brewerfan member. Thank you for your consideration, go Brewers!
  3. My sources tell me the Brewers will announce the game 5 opening pitch thrower by Sunday, but I know who it is ahead of time and will be back with updates tonight at 9pm I have been waiting under this thread refreshing like crazy for nearly 4 hours waiting for your updates...
  4. I believe that we are going to see prime Braun during this playoff run. He’s going to come through in big moments and help lead the Brewers to a long playoff run! He’s been waiting years to get back in the postseason and wants to come through more than anybody for the city of Milwaukee and state of Wisconsin!
  5. Paul Molitor has been relieved of his coaching duties by the Twins and will be searching for a new manager. I wonder if Molitor would have any interest in returning to Milwaukee as a hitting coach. I feel that the type of hitter that Molitor was is similar to what Stearns is looking for from the Brewers hitters. I personally would love to have Molitor as a hitting coach going into next season if he has any interest in becoming a hitting coach.
  6. April 3rd, the second home game of year, when Yelich and Braun hit back to back home runs on back to back pitches to walk off the Cardinals!
  7. Late to the party, but THE BREWERS ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS!!!!!! Let’s take the division lead this weekend and get ourselves a best of 5 series!
  8. The 25 man roster can be changed after the Wild Card Game and before the NLDS begins. With that in mind, this is what I would anticipate the roster looking like for the Wild Card Game if we don’t win the division: OF: Yelich, Cain, Braun, Granderson, Santana, and Broxton IF: Aguilar, Shaw, Arcia, Moustakas, Schoop, and Perez C: Pina, Kratz, and Nottingham SP: Chacín and Gonzalez BP: Hader, Jeffress, Knebel, Soria, Cedeno, Burnes, Woodruff, and Guerra I don’t see any possible way of Thames making the roster. Broxton will be there as a pinch runner for late in the game and/or a defensive replacement. I also think that they will carry 3 catchers because of the possibility of injury occurring to both Pina and Kratz or the game going to extra innings with one of the two being lifted for a pinch runner earlier in the game. The last thing you want is to run out of catchers in the playoffs. The one player that could be left off the roster would be Guerra in place of Williams or Peralta. I see Peralta having a bright future for Milwaukee, but it is a big risk carrying him on the roster right now since you never know what his command will look like that day. Woodruff and Guerra make the roster incase of a long extra inning game taking place. I do feel like they will carry a lot of extra bats and pinch hit for the pitcher nearly every time through the lineup.
  9. Pina is still under Brewers control for 3 more seasons after this year. I am sure they won’t let him walk after this season since he is still productive and will be cheap for another season or two.
  10. Pretty odd in my opinion to intentionally walk someone to get to Braun in that situation. Love that Braun made ‘em pay!
  11. I agree completely! Having a one game playoff after playing 162 games really does not make much sense. Any team can beat another team on any given day in baseball. I feel like a 3 game series would make a lot more sense, but doing this and preventing other teams from playing for an extended amount of time would most likely never happen. I am interested in seeing if the Yankees lose in the Wild Card Game, especially if they win around 100 games. The media will have a field day with how “questionable” the Wild Card Game truly is if the Yankees lost. Sadly, I only see MLB making a drastic change if a big market team like that loses after how successful they were during the regular season. Time will tell.
  12. I can understand why people say it’s not a “must win”, but it’s pretty close. If the Brewers end up 3 back after today, they would need to go something like 10-5 and the Cubs would need to go 8-9 to just tie for the division. It is pretty tough to expect something like that to occur. It is much easier winning the division being only 1 back than 3 with such few games remaining.
  13. I love Schoop’s defense! Nice job ranging over to his left and making a perfect throw over to first!
  14. Tim Dillard: the new hitting coach! In all honesty, he seems like an absolutely fantastic clubhouse presence. I hope he is brought up to help keep the guys loose and having fun these final few weeks!
  15. I personally would just keep the one medal and not buy any to replace the other ones. You and your family can cherish the one medal you do have and share fond memories of him through the one that he earned and that you still have in your possession. Your family will be proud of him and what he did whether he had one medal/ribbon or many others. Issues could arise down the road amongst your family and your children could lose trust in you in general if they learned that the other medals/ribbons were bought later on. Not only could they have a difficult time discussing other real life issues down the road with you, but they might always wonder what else you’ve told them growing up that might be untrue. Being genuine with what you do have is the best way to go.
  16. Braun has sat frequently during the season the day before an off day, but sitting today wouldn’t make too much sense to me. There are 22 games left and the game today is the difference between 2 back or 4 back. That big of a swing is truly a make or break on the rest of the season. It has to be all hands on deck at some point and this game needs to be the start of it. This is a HUGE game.
  17. Do you pull Hader now and keep him available for tomorrow or Wednesday? Or have him go another inning, which will almost certainly take him out of the rest of the series? He is only at 17 pitches through 2 and could probably go another 2 innings on Wednesday if needed.
  18. Braun is hitting lefties to a tune of .243 this season, but has the highest hard hit average in all of baseball against lefties. Crazy
  19. I completely agree with this which is why I typically never express an opinion on this topic while sitting on my couch. The one thing I will say is the Brewers-Cubs games I have gone to over the past couple of years haven’t exactly been a great fan experience. At one of the games last year, with the exception of one other couple nearby, my wife and I were the only Brewers fans within three rows in either direction. Sitting at Miller Park in the middle of arrogant Cubs fans isn’t exactly a great ballpark experience. We’ve been to a handful of Brewers-Cubs games at Wrigley, and for whatever reason those experiences have actually been better. Totally agree on this. It is not a positive family experience at all to go to a game against the Cubs at Miller Park. People don’t want to spend the money and take their family to a game where the opposing fans act the way they do. It’s hard to criticize other Brewers fans for not going to Cubs games because they aren’t attending the game for the same reasons as the rest of us. The experience is less than stellar when they come into town.
  20. I don’t understand why Davies is viewed so poorly by quite a few people. He’s been arguably their most consistent pitcher for over two years. He’s still young and will continue to improve. He’s under team control for 3 more seasons after this year. He will be in the rotation next season. His stock is at an all time low from being hurt most of the season. Stearns won’t give away a player of Davies’ caliber. Any other team in baseball would take a player as good as him to fill out the back end of their rotation. For being a team that generally doesn’t produce much pitching, it’s odd that so many people just want him gone or not in the rotation. Davies will be in the rotation with Nelson, Chacín, and Anderson. There is only one spot open for grabs and that final spot will most likely go to either Peralta or Burnes.
  21. Looking forward to watching Davies shut down the Cubs this afternoon! Time to close that gap in the division!
  22. I see Davies returning next season and being traded next offseason. His value is way too low to be traded right now. Same with Santana. He’s a good bounce back candidate and I don’t see him being given away cheaply. Thames is probably the player on the roster most likely to be traded in the offseason. No room for him anymore on this team at all, especially if Moose comes back next season. Aguilar, Braun, Shaw, and Moustakas could all see time at first. The outfield is mostly locked up with Cain, Yelich, Braun, and Perez with Santana being a possibility. Corey Ray is knocking on the door and is a possibility to be brought up mid season after Super 2 has passed. I see Peralta and Burnes vying for the rotation next season as well. Those two plus Davies, Chacín, Anderson, and hopefully a healthy Nelson will make for a strong rotation. Those 6 plus having Woodruff as a 7th option will make for a solid rotation next season that can still be effective even if they sustain a few injuries.
  23. I think his leg might have gone through before the tag was applied because Kratz had to backup to give himself a decent hop to catch it on. They also might have called him safe for blocking the plate as well. The throw took him over there but his leg was back and then he stuck his leg in front of the plate and didn't give him a clear path to slide. I may be wrong, but the catcher does not need to give a clear path to slide if he already has the ball correct? I thought the catcher was allowed to block the plate if the ball was in the glove well before the runner got there. I know they need to provide a path and can’t block it if the throw is still coming in, but Kratz had it well before the runner got home.
