  1. I think you are obviously placing way too much value on one year of Corbin Burnes.
  2. As has been established many, many times, it is a good thing you are not running the team's personnel department.
  3. Interesting pitching matchup tonight. Which former Oakland A's standout starter will prevail?
  4. NO ONE expected anything out of the Brewers this year. House money.
  5. Rea is a bit of a surprise seeing that he was one of the most consistent starters throughout the season. They must figure that he is 5th right now behind Peralta, Civale, Montas and Myers. Also, LHPs Koenig, Ashby and Hall negate the need for Milner. Feel bad for Hudson because he was so valuable throughout the season. Surprised that Mears made it.
  6. LOL this game is insane
  7. So is the perfect Brewer scenario for the Braves to win Game 1, then the Mets to have to throw Severino and their "A" lineup in a Game 2 elimination game?
  8. Pretty sure Houser is pitching in Baltimore's minor league system now.
  9. Yep. Mears has very good stuff and has another year of cheap control. They'll give him every opportunity to make the pen next spring. Hopefully he figures some things out this offseason.
  10. Methinks it might be time to end the season for Mears, send him to the pitching lab and see if they can find out what is going on. Great stuff, great arm, but the results just aren't there.
  11. In a game where so much of a player's value is tied to counting stats, I think the Player's Association might fight that.
  12. The end of the regular season road. It's been another fun one, guys! Thanks for participating. Carlos Rodriguez - Brice Turang - Mario Feliciano - Curt Leskanic - Franklin Stubbs - and last (and also least), Jeffrey Leonard!
  13. Thanks to the Cubbies, we have now reached Fernando-Mania!
  14. Agreed! I don't know if it was the high stirrup socks or the fact that his uniform was always dirty, but Tyler was a gamer.
  15. Another two-fer evening! Thank you Cubs bullpen and Brewers offense! First, my choice for #4 is Pat Listach. What, you say? Listach wore #16! Well yes, but in 1996 he asked and received permission to wear #4 in honor of former teammate Paul Molitor. And for #3, there were a lot of options, but you can't go wrong with "Scrap Iron" Phil Garner, who was very underrated as the manager of some very entertaining teams.
  16. It was by all accounts a failed trade, but Jonathon Schoop did have a few nice moments in his brief time as a Brewer, including a clutch Grand Slam in San Fran.
  17. Sal Bando's failure as a GM overshadows his quality time as the team's 3B.
  18. Brewers have a slog of a last month schedule. The Cubs, on the other hand, other than 3 games in Philly (when the Phillies may not have anything to play for), probably have the easiest schedule in the majors. That said, according to Fangraphs, the Cubs have a roughly 1.2% chance of sneaking into the playoffs.
  19. I was very excited when the Brewers signed Sean Berry in December of 1998. Berry was fresh off a stellar .895 OPS season with the Astros, and at only 33 years of age, I thought he had several years of middle-of-the-order tread left on his tires. Unfortunately Berry turned out to be one of the least effective free agent signings in the team's history.
  20. Oh, I don't think Cruz will actually make the HOF, but he still stands a better shot than Braun, even if that shot is .0001%.
  21. Wow ... no. Even if the Brewers finished the year 0-17 (which would be an astronomical collapse), the Cubs would still need to finish 9-7 to pass them. Even if the Brewers tanked and went something like 3-14, the Cubs would need to finish 12-4. Going 9-8 would be enough to seal the division, even if the Cubs win out (also astronomically unlikely).
  22. I know I've used this one before, but considering Ryan Braun's controversial late career, this man likely stands a better shot of being the first Brewers' #8 in the Hall of Fame ... Nellie Cruz
