  1. Same reason Yelich is batting in the top 3 ... reputation. Happ has been terrible this year, but he's typically a .800+ OPS bat.
  2. Yeah, not a good throw by any means, but probably one that Tellez with his considerably longer reach catches on the fly.
  3. How crazy is it that losing Jace Peterson to the COVID IL was a bigger loss than losing Yelich? Do we have a big enough sample size now to determine that Peterson doesn't, in fact, suck?
  4. Well, the fact that Yelich is a shell of himself should be discussed by fans, right? I mean, if someone is paying attention at all, it has to be a major concern. Not just for the fans, but also the organization. I think it's fair to consider just how much better this team could be if Yelich was even coming close to living up to his reputation/contract. The fact that the team is doing as well at it is despite their MVP's down year is a testament to the way this team is put together. My hope is that Yelich is able to find a couple hot streaks at this point, and can help this team come playoff time.
  5. I mean, I get that Wander Franco is the real deal as a prospect, but you can't tell me the Rays couldn't find anywhere to put Adames. Seems like a pretty stupid move by a front office that typically doesn't make stupid moves.
  6. Hendricks showing solidarity with former teammate Jake Arrieta by putting his similar junk balls on a silver platter for Brewers hitters. My kind of tribute!
  7. Here's a roster question: why can't the Brewers simply release John Axford instead of moving him to the 60 day DL? He will not be able to pitch again this season, contract is guaranteed, he will be a free agent after 2021. I'm sure that the union would have something to say about that. The Brewers are 100% responsible for his medical care.
  8. I figured Narvaez wouldn't be in the lineup today with a day game following a night game. Same with Cain. Bummer that Tellez and Garcia aren't in there today, but with both dinged up, I get it. Not real happy with Jace Peterson getting the nod in RF over Tyrone Taylor, though. He was pretty ice cold before getting a couple knocks yesterday.
  9. 6-3 while their All-World closer was on the IL. I'll take it.
  10. Except that every fastball Black throws is straight as an arrow, and his command of his secondary stuff sucks. Topa has crazy movement on his off-speed stuff to go with that 98 mph heater. 8 innings in the weird pandemic year is pretty much the definition of a small sample, but I don't think anyone is expecting him to come in and supplant Williams, either. So how is he 30 years old with 8+ years in professional baseball with this amazing movement and stuff and barely ever a shot to play in the big leagues? Not trying to be contrarian for the sake of being contrarian. These are legitimate questions. He missed complete seasons in 2015 and 2017 after having Tommy John surgery. Only 12 innings in 2016 before getting hurt again. Struggled once he returned in 2018, then became a minor league FA. Brewers grabbed him in November 2019, and he pitched solidly in 40 innings. The one thing that got him attention, though, was the increased velocity. He went from throwing low to mid-90s as a minor leaguer in the Pirate and ranger systems to high 90s to even touching triple digits with the Brewers in 2019. Then he came back and did the same thing in spring training in 2020, which got him a ticket to the alternate site in Appleton.
  11. If he needs Tommy John surgery (which is probable), Curtiss is likely out for all of next year as well. Being a reliever he may be able to return at the end of the season, like what Suter did a few years back, but that is unlikely.
  12. I was wondering how you have 15 K's and pitch 8 innings, but only throw 99 pitches. A 4-pitch 1st inning helps.

  14. Apparently the rumors were true, and the Brewers made plays for both Max Scherzer and Craig Kimbrel at the deadline. https://www.mlb.com/news/source-brewers-eyed-max-scherzer-craig-kimbrel-trades It would have been interesting to see what they would have had to give up for those guys. Kimbrel especially would have been pricey. I wonder if the Cubs just up and decided that they weren't going to contribute to the Brewers' potential success this year?
  15. One of these Brewers starters is gonna throw a no-hitter before the end of this season, aren't they? Seriously, any time Woody, Burnes or Peralta take the mound, there's a chance. Hell, even Houser and Lauer have a shot. Also, if the Brewers go 23-24 the rest of the season, they'll win 92 games. This team has a legit shot at winning 100.
  16. I personally would like the Reds to just go away. Sure would be nice to have the division lead up to 10 by next week.
  17. Would be tempted to go Lindblom tonight against Arrieta and save Burnes for Hemdricks tomorrow. This is what I would do as well. Lindblom makes more sense vs. a basically AAAA Cubs' lineup where he MAY only be able to go 1-2x through due to the weather than potentially wasting Burnes. Except that Lindblom just started Sunday and threw 50 pitches for Nashville. I know that isn't his typical pitch count, but I don't know if throwing him on 3 days rest is the best idea regardless.
  18. Good question. I assume it is a lack of velocity/high K stuff. Barker maxes out in the low 90s, which is sort of an outlier compared to the rest of the team's pen arms, sans Suter. In any case, given that they have passed on Barker for the likes of Romano and Axford, I doubt they feel that he is a legit MLB arm.
