    Just a guess but I'm thinking Topa up and Curtiss to the IL. I'm kinda surprised they have subjected us to the Sal Romano era, let alone John Axford, Part Deux, rather than simply bring Topa back up. How much of a rehab assignment does a guy like that need?

    Being contrarian all the time though, once in a while, you are bound to be right. Luckily, when you are wrong, people don't always remind you. I'm wrong. A lot. That's why I try to avoid speaking opinion as though it is fact when possible. I admit when I do. But when wrong, it is best, I think, to own it.

    We are in a division battle with the Cardinals. I know that we as Brewer fans are always going to have some Cardinals-related PTSD, but that team is circling the drain.

    12 pitch inning there helps. Cubs really want to see what Steele has. They want him as a starter. Will certainly take the free out... Box, Williams one game Strickland, Cousins another? I'm all four hanging another 3-4 runs on the board, and going with Perdomo.

    Have I mentioned how much I absolutely love that Garcia is having a nice year ... simply because so many here and other places were 100% sure that he was a terrible signing and a terrible player. Being contrarian can be fun once in a while.

    He allows one run and it's bad Freddy? Feel free to fact check me on this, but I don't think anyone that's pitched more than 20 innings this year has a 0 ERA. He's putting a lot of runners on, missing his spots, serving up plenty on a platter, and throwing a ton of pitches because of it. This is the Freddy we saw quite a bit a couple years ago. It is possible for a pitcher to minimize runs and still have a poor outing. That's what's happening today, IMO.

    Except there are a few key differences between Turang and Arcia. The question with Turang is will be develop power. Arcia developed it, he just couldn't utilize it much because of other issues. Arcia is also much more of a pull hitter whereas Turang is a spray line drives to all fields guy. I'm sure you could find more applicable negative comps as well, but his statistical profile from Biloxi seems much more akin to Wong or Adam Frazier or the recent version of Miguel Rojas than Arcia. That type of profile can play, especially when it is attached to a solid middle infield defender. Also, the Brewers started the year with three healthy shortstops on their full season minor league rosters (Turang, Hamilton, Zamora) and one who was injured (Pinero). A lot of guys have seen time at shortstop simply because someone has to play there. If Turang emerges as a Wong type of offensive profile at short, that would not be bad. But I think Wilson, despite the fact that his time at shortstop has been sporadic, but a .956 fielding percentage isn't too shabby for 25 games over his minor league career. He's had 55 games at second in that time. He's primarily a corner infielder, but looks like a very competent middle infielder who can handle the corner outfield spots as well (4 assists from right field in 28 games). His bat has far fewer questions than Turang's at this point. LOL. Weston Wilson will be 27 next month. He has a career minors OPS of .776. I know your schtick is to be contrarian, but come on, dude. This take is over the top, even for you.

Even considering that it was an earlier era and we knew less about pitching injuries, Phil Garner rode Cal Eldred unbelievably hard: https://www.brewcrewball.com/2011/8/30/2392811/today-in-brewer-history-eldred-overextended This outing finished a four start stretch where Eldred made four appearances on normal rest and averaged 142 pitches per outing. Ah ... "beating" as in "doing better than". It was a compliment to Counsell! That makes much more sense now. Garner also rode Navarro into the ground, and probably wasn't careful enough with D'Amico as well.

    I don't know if they have the bullpen depth right now to even have a bullpen game. I imagine we'll see a couple spot starts against the Cubs this week. Lindblom was pulled after 50 pitches last night, so I think he may go Thursday.

    Reds get the Indians, Braves and Phillies this week. Brewers get the Cubs and Pirates. Theoretically, this is a week where the Brewers should be able to extend their lead on the Reds.
