  1. I certainly would like to see a link to those comments? I thought this story summed it up pretty well: https://larrybrownsports.com/football/packers-gm-shares-regret-with-aaron-rodgers-last-year/578155
  2. So was Yelich being coached by bizarro Andy Haines in 2019, when he was actually better than his MVP 2018 season?
  3. The optimist in me keeps telling myself "he's only 24, he can turn it around", but with each at-bat, I am coming to this realization. Which sucks. It sucks terribly. I don't know anymore if it is Hiura's approach, fundamentals, coaching (or lack thereof) or something else, but all I know is that after witnessing the last two months, and last year's two-month season, it appears that the Hiura we saw in 2019 was a complete mirage. A hitter that can't hit a belt-high 92 mph fastball has no business playing professional baseball. Hiura is going to have to look deep to figure out if the player we are seeing is who he is, or if there is something more there that is being hidden right now.
  4. I don't know. I didn't see anything in Bickford that told me he was anything more than a marginal relief prospect. I saw a low 90s fastball and control issues. If he turns into a serviceable MLB reliever, I'd be surprised, as when he did manage to get his stuff over the plate in his few opportunities as a Brewer, it looked very hittable.
  5. Lefties inherently have more value that righties ... simply because it is more rare to be able to find competent ones. I mean, there are limits to that. Suter isn't more valuable than Burnes for example, regardless of salary or service time. Of course, you are very much correct. But when it comes to two pitchers that offer somewhat similar stuff and perceivable upside, I would imagine that most teams would pick the lefty.

  7. Lauer really has only had one bad outing this year (ATL 3ER in 3IP) and 3 good starts. He is looking more like the pitcher we expected to get back in the trade (i.e. younger Zach Davies) and not the 2020 version he showed last year. I think the fact that Lauer is a lefty likely makes him more valuable than Davies ever was. He does throw harder than Davies too. I've seen several 94s and perhaps even a 95 or two out of him this year. He's been a pleasant surprise so far no doubt. He, along with Urias's success with the bat lately, are definitely making that Grisham/Davies deal a bit easier to stomach.
  8. Of course winning matters. Scoreboard watching? Not so much. Dude No one is gnashing their teeth if Cubs/cardinals lose or win today. But it’s ok to follow them and all the rivals in the division. I don’t give a crap what date. Modern baseball fans are so freaking weird on how they like to tell people how to be a fan or the one way to play the game. It’s almost exclusive to this sport. It’s weird It’s probably one of the reasons why there aren’t as many casual fans anymore. Just hardcore dorks like us on a message board I mean if someone can’t take pleasure in a Cubs loss in may without the Brian Kenny types screaming about what matters than what’s the point My god I think you are reading WAY too much into a throw-away comment. Of course I enjoy seeing the Cubs lose, regardless of the date. Just saying that the division standings are of little consequence in May, as so much can change. We have more than 100 games left in the season. That's all. Sorry, really wasn't intending to get snippy.
  9. Not good enough! Should be 10 for 10 if they had a real manager and A GM who wasn't cheap and stupid. Should be 53-0. Damn Stearns!
  10. And to think ... less than 48 hours ago, someone "called it like it was" that this team sucks. It's almost as if major league baseball seasons have ups and downs!
  11. Maybe it just seems this way, but hasn’t Shaw come through quite a bit in the clutch this year, and aren’t his RBIs a respectable number? I don’t recall Smoak really providing much in general, so even though Shaw’s numbers aren’t good, he has provided some value. All that being said, if we could find a decent 1B I’d be all over sending Hiura down for an extended period and getting rid of Vogelbach and/or Shaw. In the last 28 days Shaw has one homer and 5 RBI. He had some big hits back in April, but honestly the guy is down to a .643 OPS. He hasn't been decent since 2018 and he's not giving any indication that he's anything other than what he is at this point. It's unfortunate. I had high hopes for a Shaw rebound, but he likely is what he is at this point, which is a fringe major league player propped up by strong defense. He just doesn't have the bat speed and pitch recognition he had a few years ago.
  12. Why? Keep him in the game now and get 2 at bats instead of one out of him. Makes sense if they're going to double switch him in. I assumed it was just for the single PH appearance now. I'd bet with Lester out he'll stay in.
  13. It’s crazy how many hittable pitches he flat out misses The thing is, a hittable pitch is a hittable pitch. No reason why he can hit those pitches in Nashville but not in Milwaukee. These MLB pitchers aren't blowing him away with anything special.
  14. Avi is up to 9 HRs and close to an .800 OPS. This is the Garcia we thought we were getting last year.
  15. Sucks big time. I'm wondering who gets his minutes. Will it be spread around to guys like Connaughton, Tucker and Forbes. Teague has kind of been a forgotten man. Perhaps he gets some more playing time. If they were smart, Middleton would take on more of a ball-handling 2-guard role, and the Bucks go bigger with Portis moving into Middleton's small forward slot. But I'd venture to guess that Connaughton gets the nominal start at the 2. He's been in that role with the 2nd team all season. It does suck. He doesn't have near the explosiveness of DiVincenzo, and doesn't offer near the defense either.
  16. Regarding Cabrera, he's been continuously available seemingly every year, always seems somewhat productive, always signed for relatively cheap, yet Stearns has never gone that way. I kinda get the feeling that Stearns is not a Asdrubel Cabrera fan, which to me means he will never be a Brewer. Not sure on Escobar, but he is seemingly another name that is perpetually available.
