  1. Yeah, I remembered mentioning Tellez at one point so I went and looked it up but then realized it was as part of the discussion about possible Hader trade returns… so I probably won’t be bumping that one. While the similarities aren't totally symmetrical, there are quite a few between Adames and Tellez. Both are former heralded prospects that have graduated to MLB, and have had some success at the MLB level, only to be overshadowed by uber-prospects in Wander Franco and Vlad Jr. Tellez was once considered the Jays' 1B of the future, back when Vlad Jr. was considered to be a 3B. He was never as high up on the Jays' prospect lists as Vlad, Bo Bichette or Biggio, but he was always a Top 10 guy, and a Top 5 guy once those other guys hit the majors. Perhaps not the same prospect pedigree as Hiura, but not as far off as one would think.
  2. One nice thing about Tellez's career numbers ... a very low K percentage. That'll be a nice change of pace.
  3. Tellez currently has a 1.038 OPS in 55 plate appearances with Toronto's AAA affiliate. So he is, in fact, hitting well where he's at. He was, however, not hitting well in his earlier time with Toronto.
  4. Not real sure Tellez has enough of a track record yet for anyone to classify him as "garbage". We're talking about a guy who hit 21 HRs as a 24-year-old in 2019, then followed that up with a .886 OPS in last year's abbreviated season. In your mind, what would be a "legitimate" answer at 1B? This guy is another Vogelbach who at least we picked up on waivers. Cron for one would have been a better target and I think we need a right handed bat more than yet another lefty. Are we really so flush with pitching to give away two more arms for a replacement level first baseman. If the Brewers wanted Cron, they could have just signed him to a cheap FA deal this offseason. They obviously didn't, so I can't imagine there is a ton of interest there now. The Brewers LOVE lefty power at the corners. This move is 100% in the team's wheelhouse. As for your pitching statement, that's a good question. I think Richards was basically a throw-in in the Adames deal, and while he's pitched well for the Brewers, he really hasn't moved up the leverage ladder all that much. That makes me think that guys like Sanchez, Cousins and Strickland have passed him up in the pecking order. Francis was pitching well at AAA, but he's nothing special. Basically another Bettinger/Derby/insert name of random AAAA pitcher.

  6. Only thing I can figure is that they really like Tellez's LHH bat and power potential at AmFam. He grades out as a solid defensive 1B as well, which is probably a step up from Vogelbach or Hiura. He's also just over two years younger than Vogelbach.
  7. Don't understand why they try to make Keston hit the lefties in the platoon. His career has shown he hits righties much better. Tellez destroyed lefties last year as well.
  8. If this doesn't end somehow in Tellez and Vogelbach having some sort of reality show where they cruise the AmFam Field parking lot visiting tailgate parties and slamming burgers and beer, I'm going to be disappointed. This team is certainly not lacking in the personality department, that's for sure.
  9. So they are so upset by Vogelbach's injury that they went out and dealt for his clone? Seems odd. Richards had been pitching really well too. If it's a straight one-for-one swap, this is an odd deal.
  10. Doubt we see Milner again this season after tonight. I hope so. Hunter Strickland has been a nice pickup though.
  11. It would be nice if they quit giving sidearming junkballers like Yardley and Milner opportunities. Yardley did alright last year, but neither are fooling anyone this year.
  12. I understand the logic behind your thoughts here. I just doubt that the Brewers are going to do it, because it doesn't seem to be the way they operate. And the way they operate is working perfectly fine.
  13. You think there is a thread on a Mets board somewhere where fan are upset that their team didn't move DeGrom up to face Woodruff tonight?
  14. The only reason there is any sort of drop-off, though, is because Woody, Burnes and Peralta have been so terrific. Houser, Lauer and Anderson have been perfectly fine as back-end starters, and they are all guys who are going to play a significant role in the 2nd half, against good teams as well as those that aren't so good. I doubt that there is any team who has played a division rival 12 times, and not thrown their top two guys. But that is likely purely coincidental, and at the same time, pretty cool too. I'm simply arguing that the Brewers are likely not going to make any attempt to line up starters for certain matchups until much later in the season. You may not agree, but they seem to feel that keeping these guys on a certain routine is a better idea than playing matchup right now.
  15. Because they want to strategically line up starters to face certain teams? Because they want to do it in June/July. I highly doubt most MLB teams worry about that sort of thing until late August at the absolute earliest.
  16. Starting to believe yet? Not sure why you are quoting me. There were multiple people predicting a sub .500 record and many others predicting 15-16 wins. Sorry Plush ... it wasn't my intention to come off as snide. Was just honestly asking you, as a long time poster around here, if you're starting to believe in this team? I never made a prediction for June because after the offense looked so terrible in May, I had no clue where this team was headed at the time. Things are certainly looking up right now, though.
  17. 44 games pre-Adames: 3.66 runs per game (21-23 record) 37 games post-Adames: 5.11 runs per game (27-10 record) Pretty sure brewers888 also says Wong can’t hit either. I’m sure there’s some Urias comments too. I doubt we see much of him right now. Usually only shows when things are not going as well. He was all over the IGT yesterday after the Brewers went down 7-0 after 1/2 inning. Absent after that. Strange.
  18. It sounds improbable, but part of me believes Giannis will play in the finals should the Bucks advance. Heck, it wouldn't even surprise me to see him in Games 6-7. Dude is that much of a freak athlete. Nothing he does really surprises me anymore.
  19. Ironically Rasmussen started today and gave up 2 runs in the first. Still think he will be very good for Rays, but we really needed the life that Adames has given the offense. Don't discount Trevor Richards in that deal, either. He's looked every bit as good as Feiereisen looked pre trade. Rasmussen has a nice upside and ceiling for sure, but Richards has been great, and Adames is a revelation.
  20. Tyrone Taylor has impressed the heck out of me this season. He's a legit MLB player. Probably will never be a superstar, but he's a gamer.
