  1. That’s some next level commitment to the lower case of letters. It's gotta be some sort of schtick at this point, right?
  2. That wasn't the question. No one added the caveat that the trade needed to be successful. Phelps was a scrap heap pen arm that they got good innings out of, then flipped when his value was high for several young arms. He was literally an example of what Peavy was saying.
  3. I'm sure there's a bunch of examples, but what are some of the examples of Stearns doing this? Phelps ... literally 9 months ago.
  4. Adames hit 20 HRs in 2019 for the Rays. He's a very good defender at SS. Former top prospect and is only 25. He does seem redundant with Urias also on the roster, though.
  5. wow, really? Yeah. I don't know if I like this one. Rasmussen's arm is top notch, and while Feyereisen seems like a dime-a-dozen reliever, he's been really good this year.
  6. Sounds like Feyereisen and Rasmussen going back. Wow! They are going to turn Rasmussen into a stud. Just watch.
  7. I think you are spot on. The CDC taking mask requirements away for vaccinated people is a not-so-veiled attempt to incentivize getting more people who are on the fence vaccinated. I'm sure the decision was made, at least partially, because vaccination numbers have declined sharply across the country. Those who have made the decision not to get vaccinated have now dug in their heels, and it is likely that many of those were already defying mask requirements, as it is extremely hard to enforce those anywhere. But there is probably a group who are still taking the mask requirements seriously, and may very well see this as the last step they need to do to basically shed the mask and return to a more normal existence. Last weekend I went shopping at Walmart, and for the first time in over a year, I didn't wear a mask. Walmart suspended their mask requirements following the CDC announcement last week, and there is no longer any signs asking for mask wearing or an employee stationed at the entrance checking for masks. And I would bet that, at least in my local Walmart in northern Wisconsin, it was probably 50-50 between those still wearing a mask, and those who weren't. I would also be willing to bet that the majority of those who weren't masked in the store likely also weren't vaccinated. But I made the decision to go without because I've been fully vaxxed and protected since early March. Still, it felt very odd not wearing one ... almost as if I was breaking the law or not wearing pants or something. Masks, while kind of annoying, did provide some level of comfort, at least for me. It's going to take a little while to get over that.
  8. If I remember right, there was quite a bit of "we should be selling" talk in 2018 as well. I'm personally glad they chose a different path. I think if they are anywhere close to .500 at the deadline, they'll be buyers. And if this team isn't close to .500 at the end of August, that would be a massive disappointment. Don't know when. They were 8 games over. 500 on May 20th, 2018, 13 games over on June 20th, and 11 games over on July 20th. There were ebbs and flows to be sure but they were pretty much in it the whole way. This team is under .500 on May 20th. I just think 2018 was a lot better overall team. I think most of the talk was immediately after that 5-game sweep against the Pirates immediately prior to the All-Star break, but even after that, they were still 55-43. I think I'm probably confusing 2018 and 2019. There was "sell" talk both years, but it was definitely much more pronounced in 2019. Sorry for my confusion.

  10. But I bet Yelich outhits Trout over the next 6-8 weeks (the expected timeframe that Trout will be on the IL). We're all frustrated, but it's probably not fair to slam someone for getting injured while playing baseball. Hopefully the Brewers can get & stay healthy and we get a better read on what we're working with. If Yelich hits like he should (All-Star level), then this offense very quickly looks much different. It is a head-scratcher that Haines still has a job. Coaching jobs aren't very stable in the best of times, and the Brewer offense has been down long enough that Haines should probably be worried about his job. There's definitely a "good ol boy" system that seems to exist within the Brewer organization. Those who are part of the club tend to have much longer leashes, those who do not seem to be expendable. Andy Haines is a good ol boy. So was Eddie Sedar. I don't know about that. I'd say Counsell has always been hesitant to drop any coaches from his staff. They've let some be allowed to pursue other opportunities, but I always viewed that as more of a professional courtesy. And unfortunately, we are not privy to the inner workings and workplace dynamic among the coaching staff.
  11. You can download the Bally app on a Roku device. I haven't felt the need to do that, though, as I can just watch the Brewers on the Bally Sports channel on AT&T TV. What are you going to use as your cable provider in order to access the BallySports app?
  12. Along with another classic Brewers closer (probably in 2004?) Curtis Leskanic. Before Hader it seems like the Brewers had bout a 20+ year run of a revolving door at closer...most of them having one great year and then one horrible year where they replaced. Axford had a pretty solid 3-year run in there, but other than him, you are right.
  13. My 12-year-old got it yesterday. His arm was hurting at the injection site last night, and he said he was tired this morning, so we told him he could take the morning off from school. Don't know if it is more shot-related, or more "I can use my shot as a reason to skip school" related, though LOL.
  14. This. No good options, so rather than play musical chairs, the most realistic answer is to let Urias figure it out. Should be noted, though, that of the six games Strange-Gordon has played for Nashville, all have been at SS. It wouldn't surprise me to see him eventually work into the utility mix if his bat continues to stay hot.
  15. I know he hasn't played much SS the last few years, but Dee Strange-Gordon has to start to be a consideration to get SS innings at the MLB level, doesn't he?
  16. Compounded by being backed up on their terrible calls by a corrupt replay system. Rob Manfred sure is trying his best to make baseball unwatchable. Of course, this putrid Brewers offense isn't helping, either.
  17. Tell me you just started following the Brewers without saying you just started following them I started following the Brewers when I skipped a day of my senior year in high school to watch them lose 12-0 to the Angels on Opening Day 1970. I think I’ve earned the right to be a cynic. Maybe I should have put my comment about the Brewers being built on pitching and defense in blue. I didn’t expect people to take it that seriously. But, the next time I hear that this year’s team is built on pitching and defense, I’ll just think that anyone at today’s game who would never guess that unless they left after the 6th inning. There is always going to be outlier games that buck the trend. It's a cliche, but that's baseball.
  18. Garcia's .OPS is up to .770 and climbing. While he hasn't been as hot as Narvaez, he's also proven to be far from the offensive liability he looked like in last year's weird season. Nice to see the Brewers stuck with these guys long enough to let them turn things around.
  19. Sure is nice having Narvaez back from injury. He is 100% proving his doubters wrong this season. This is the hitter we thought we were getting, along with the added bonus of substantially improved defense.
