  1. Loving that Adames trade more and more. He really seems like the type of kid who could be a standout and a team leader for a long time. He's got a similar fun-loving personality to Arcia, but has so far put up the production to back it up and keep the "no fun on the field" crowd at bay. Really nice to see Urias playing well, too, both offensively and especially in the field. With the great defense and somewhat surprising power he's shown this year, I almost wonder if we can't start thinking of him as this team's 3B of the present and future?
  2. Ugh. I was really hoping Keston would spend a couple months down there. Recalling him now is more or less a repeat of the last go around. Yep. But they need someone to play 1B. If he sucks, you send him back to Nashville when you acquire someone to replace him. There is no easy fix in the system right now, though. Not with Zach Green striking out at a 40% clip in AAA. About the only other logical option is Weston Wilson, and they must not think he would add enough to put him on the 40-man.
  3. I get that they are going to have to keep giving Yelich scheduled days off, but it sucks after he was ripping the ball last night. He did just take half the game off on Monday too.
  4. Probably some hullabaloo with the "re-opening day" stuff, combined with the Bucks being in the Eastern Conference finals.
  5. Brewers just announced that Hiura is up. Hoping for the best ... but hard to be terribly optimistic considering how bad he's looked.
  6. Goin once, going twice, going three times....Reserve Price Not Met *Auction Cancelled* Didn't you know that if you say his name three times, you wish him into existence in a Brewer uniform?
  7. Brew4U is probably the biggest Braun guy on these boards, but even considering that, the sarcasm is pretty heavily implied in this case, IMO.
  8. if jace peterson is dfa'd, who's the backup first baseman? Probably Narvaez.
  9. I know there is some logic to it, but I'm gonna be pretty upset if they option Cousins to Nashville today.
  10. That 97 mph fastball will play too. Enough of the sidearmers and junkballers. If you are going to go down, at least go down throwing heat.
  11. Unless he's made changes to his approach, I don't think much can be taken from his AAA numbers. His K rate is obviously not as high as it was in MLB, but it is still high enough to be concerning. I'm not real sure why AAA pitchers simply aren't feeding him a steady diet of high fastballs?
  12. Hosmer ties with with a bomb. Reds pen is going to be their Achilles Heel, regardless of how good they looked against the Brewers. Probably not enough of an Achilles Heel to keep them behind the Brewers. We'll see I suppose. I still say the Reds are a team that looks better on paper than they actually are in real life. Keep losing the way they did tonight, and they'll be lucky to be a .500 team.

  14. Felt like I was watching a high school baseball highlights. It's Arizona Rookie league. The majority of those kids are teenagers
  15. What do Robertson, Reyes, Peterson, Lopes all have in common besides the fact they aren't good major league hitters? You got it. They all play multiple positions. Maybe it's time that the focus should be more on who can hit major league pitching rather than who can be moved around when building roster depth? One or two of those types at the back end of a 26-man roster is typically fine. Having four, two of which are starting pretty much every game, however, is not ideal.
  16. That’s certainly a fair criticism, but he also turned 26 years old this past off-season which is in line with the timing of when many hitters begin the window of their peak years. He may be playing a bit over his head this season, but he’s probably also a legitimately better hitter than he was at 23 or 24. It's also possible that he may be a guy who could benefit from being put in a set position, rather than being bounced around between 1st, 2nd and 3rd, as he has his whole career so far with the Rockies.
  17. I probably would have too, but it's hard to blame them for continuing to turn over the back of the pen. Pen arms are so volatile. Never know when one of these unheralded guys is suddenly gonna find something and get hot.
  18. I think the "production away from Coors" thing is a little overblown. DJ Lemahieu certainly did well after leaving Colorado. Arenado has been good. Matt Holliday had some nice years after leaving Colorado. Larry Walker was good for the Cardinals after the Rockies dealt him. That is great if they are perennial All-Stars or borderline HOF players but the list is a lot longer for guys that don't fit that category and are not as productive elsewhere. Lemahieu was a good player with the Rockies, but I certainly wouldn't call him a superstar. The contract he signed with the Yankees didn't reflect that, either. But his numbers actually jumped after leaving Colorado.

  20. He'd be a terrific target. I'd worry what the cost would be, though. It would definitely be a "sell high" deal for the Rockies.
  21. And I'm sure the front office realizes that. It isn't like they have a "only acquire pitching" mandate. The Adames deal was a deft move. I expect more moves to shore up the offense in the next few weeks. They know they have a playoff team here if they can start hitting a little more.
  22. GMTA Somebody has to tell Stearns our problem right now is we can't hit our way out of a paper bag. Just because a team is having offensive problems, it doesn't mean they should ignore the pitching staff.
  23. If Keston can't figure out his strikeouts, I hope he's looking for a more permanent residence in Nashville. Still WAY too high of a K rate.
