  1. You know what does have an impact on bringing back third baseman Justin Turner? Actually signing him to a contract. The fact that the Dodgers have yet to do that is quite telling.
  2. Sborz is a potential solid, and cheap, pen piece. He'll have interest if he gets to the waiver wire.
  3. As I understand it, as soon as they make it official, they also have to announce the corresponding roster move.
  4. To be clear, I was attempting a joke. I'm as guilty as anyone of overthinking this Turner thing at every opportunity. In hindsight, the Zach Galifianakis meme probably should have given that away. Please excuse my not smartness
  5. But then won't the Cubs need a third baseman... and Turner's wife's family grew up as Chicago sports fans... So the Cubs are going to get out of paying their 29-year old All-Star former MVP 3B $19.5 million, then turn around and pay a 36-year-old likely inferior player a guaranteed $30 million? Not sure that math works. They'd probably just hand the job to Bote or throw Happ at 3B.
  6. Darren Sharper just asked Freddie Mitchell to hold his beer LOL That Seattle game was terrible, but 4th and 26 was truly nightmare fuel.
  7. That's a good signing for Cleveland. Gamel likely will end up starting for them. Possible but I think unlikely.. Depends on health of others & Gamel's ability to be solid in CF.. Funny side note: Gamel was once dealt for Domingo Santana. Domingo got a deal with CLE last year & did not make it thru the season before getting sent to the alternate site & then released over the off season. I think Gamel probably chose the best chance he's going to get at regular playing time. Before they signed Rosario, Cleveland may have had the worst projected OF in the majors. Now that is probably the Cardinals, though.

  9. A lot of that projection is run prevention. The projection people really like the Brewers pitching and defense.
  10. The Dodgers haven't even made a roster move yet to announce the Bauer signing. They are at the point where they are going to have to drop good, talented players who are on their 40-man in order to fit in any new acquisitions. It makes me think that they are perhaps working on a trade to alleviate the logjam. I'm guessing it will be two players on their 40-man for non 40-man players, which would free up space for Bauer and Turner.
  11. MVS caught 4 balls for 115 yards and a TD against the Bucs, while Lazard caught 3 for 62. Both had very good games.
  12. The Reds were the February favorites last year. The Phillies were the February favorites in 2019. How did things work out for them?
  13. It's February. Every team technically has a chance. If you've already given up on them, why bother even following?
  14. As a long-time Brewers fan, how could you possibly be surprised that they went this route? That move was about as Stearns-esque as it gets. I mean, when has this team's front office ever made the predicted or obvious move? I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just fed up with this off season, as a long time Brewers fan. Look at what LA and SD have done! Seriously, just take a long hard look at what those teams will be fielding, and what we will be throwing out there. It just saddens me to think that as baseball fans, who love our team, we just will be unable to compete for a World Series birth. It is just as close to impossible as it gets. Well, at least we aren't the Pirates. You're correct. The Brewers' big move this offseason – Wong – would be a pocket change move for the Dodgers. MLB's financial structure sucks. It has for awhile. But it's not going to change anytime soon. It's gotten to the point where, as a Brewer fan, you have to almost hope for teams like the Dodgers to suffer major injuries or have a bunch of underperformers for any hope to have them come back to the field of other teams, including the Brewers. That's why, as a Brewer fan, I guess you just have to enjoy the ride of the regular season, but the deck is severely stacked against them come playoff time. It is what it is.

  16. Very interesting that Rosenthal specifically mentions Mark A in his tweet. So, cleary this is the player (or one of the players) that Mark A met or talked to directly about coming to Milwaukee. I think we all assumed that to be true, but I think this validates it even more - which means that we are pretty serious about trying to get a deal done with him. I assume that if the Mets wee to sign Turner, it would make either Davis or Dom Smith available in a trade. Both would be solid fits for the Brewers.
  17. Chances are slim, but this is the same team that managed to turn Wade Miley into a solid starting pitcher after four years of terrible results, so it's certainly not impossible.
  18. I'm sorry, but IMO its an ENORMOUS assumption to believe that the Packers have no contact with their franchise QB in the offseason. I personally don't believe that to be the case. Not for a second. And saying that you "suggested that the Packers should communicate more with their franchise player" is kind of a goalpost move on "It'd be nice if the Packers treated Rodgers like the Buccs did Brady though. At least pretend to listen to his imput." You lauded the Bucs for bringing in Gronk and Brown on Brady's recommendations. That is a step up, IMO, from simply "communicating more". None of us really have any idea how much communication Rodgers has with the team in the offseason. Perhaps I am not seeing your full point here, but it sounds like you want Rodgers to have a role in player acquisition, and I wholeheartedly disagree with that. If my assumption is incorrect, I apologize.
  19. Aaron Rodgers had a cap hit of $37+ million dollars in 2020. How is that not treating him like an all-time-great QB? It was 21 million, but how does this discussion keeps changing. I'm talking about communicating with Rodgers during the off-season with regard to who they're going to bring in, AGAIN, as the Buccs did with Brady or the Pats did when they brought in AB or Gronk. Never said they didn't pay him enough, I've never said he was more important than the franchise, I've never inferred either. I also didn't say they needed to makes the moves he's wanted. Just communicate with him. That's all. Doesn't seem like that's really asking too much of them. Sorry, I meant 2021. And you are implying that he is more important that the franchise when you say they should be running moves by him. Also, how do you know they haven't run moves like the Jimmy Graham signing by him? He's also said that he was part of the conversation with the team's brass before they signed Adams and Bahktiari to their extensions. How much power should one player have? Let Lafleur coach. Let Gute have control of the roster. It is Rodgers' job to make the pieces he's provided with work. And he's done a very good job of that throughout his career.

  21. Well, Zim is one. Gonzalez and Reddick still make a lot of sense as depth guys.
  22. I called it LOL! Fun move to see if a former standout starter has anything left in the tank.
  23. The Braves continue to be mentioned. For the life of me I cannot figure out why they don't want to give Austin Riley the chance to run with the job. He's supposed to be the "next big thing" at the hot corner.
  24. How in the world is Jonathan Villar only 29? It seems like he was a up-and-coming Brewer a lifetime ago.
  25. Seconded. Aaron Rodgers is a great player. He is not bigger or more important than the Green Bay Packers. When he retires in a few years, the Packers will still be a team. Hopefully they are a team that is in good shape to compete. I'd love to see then go all in to get the TEAM a Super Bowl. If Rodgers is the QB, great. But they certainly don't owe him the personnel moves he wants.
