  1. Sounds like 100% guaranteed confirmation to me!
  2. You have literally one of the best if not the best defensive 2B in baseball and you're going to move him to a position he's never played in his career to keep an absolute defensive butcher at his position? I don't think so. And presumably Wong's plus defense would translate to 3B, a position we currently have a vacancy at. I'm not saying it's what I would do, but would you really be shocked if the organization who moved Moustakas to 2B would do this? Yes. In 2019 the Brewers had two 3Bs who were defensive standouts with bats that they wanted to get in the lineup. Moose's offense was solid at 3B, but elite at 2B. This isn't the same situation. While Wong is a solid bat at 2B, his bat at 3B would be pretty sizably below average.
  3. Stearns' acquisition of Robertson very much reminds me of Doug Melvin grabbing Keith Ginter back in 2002 and Casey McGehee in 2009. Both were eventually replaced by more high-profile and higher upside players (Rickie Weeks and Aramis Ramirez), but both were also astute acquisitions who played well in their time as Brewers. If Robertson can provide similar production to what those two did, I'd be very happy.
  4. I'm so, so sorry. That doesn't seem near big enough.
  5. If it does end up costing him future earnings, it's on him. While he isn't unplayable at 2B, it's closer than it should be for any contending team. It isn't like Hiura is just going to throw away his infield glove, either. He's only 24 years old, and if he isn't traded, stands to be a part of this team much longer than Kolten Wong will likely be. He'll still see time at 2B, but not on a regular basis, unless Wong is injured. What this does, in essence, is give Hiura the chance to learn multiple other defensive positions, increasing his overall versatility, while giving him the opportunity to learn from the best defensive 2B in the game for at least the next two seasons. Wong is known as a great team guy, and I'm sure the Brewers see him as a mentor for Hiura.
  6. Hill has arguably been more injury prone than Anderson as well, at least over the last few years. I really liked what Anderson did for this team last year, and would be happy to have him back to take starts at the back end of the rotation. He was a pleasant surprise.
  7. Cain's signing 3 years ago was coupled with a second rather large transaction as well. Could history repeat itself? Hmmmm ...
  8. Hiura is going to be starting in 2021 ... whether it be for the Brewers, or some other team. I agree he a starter but where on this team , I don't belive he can play 1st there is no dh if you sign Wong to start at 2nd I just don't see where he plays If he can't play 1B, he's not gonna be a Brewer. Simple as that.
  9. Josh Hader to NYM Jose Ramirez to MKE Keston Hiura, Mario Feliciano, Hedbert Perez, & Brett Baty to CLE So the Mets are getting Hader for Baty alone? Yikes! Also, Ramirez is a stud, but giving up a package of Hiura, Hader, Feliciano and Perez is super steep, IMO.
  10. That is making the rather big assumption, though, that Turner is agreeable to a deal with the Brewers, and his agent isn't simply using the Brewers' supposed interest in an effort to squeeze an extra couple million out of the Dodgers. For how great the Dodgers lineup is, they still have a question mark at 3B, and if they don't make a move on a guy like Ramirez or Kris Bryant, re-upping with Turner makes a lot of sense for them.
  11. Idk, I like Robertson, just don't think he's the right answer as our everyday 3B. I wouldn’t read too much into anything Haudricourt says. He doesn’t know anything. Considering Wong's signing was announced roughly 25 minutes after the first reports that the Brewers were even interested, I think it's safe to say that no one knows anything in regards to what the Brewers are working on.
  12. I would hope that any team that is taking Hiura's 2020 numbers into account when determining his value, and significantly lowering it, would not be a legit trade partner.
  13. Idk, I like Robertson, just don't think he's the right answer as our everyday 3B. It's certainly a risk, but I don't think anyone should be surprised that, given the financial state of the team and the odd situation they are in coming off a year of pretty large financial losses, they are likely going to have to take some cost-cutting risks.
  14. Is your projection system basically limited to players' time with the Brewers? Who in partcular are you referring to. If its Garcia his career is full of underwhelming years with 2 years that were good. Narvaez was just so beyond awful that I can't expect much from him either. You are literally making your assumption on Narvaez based on a total of 126 plate appearances, when he has more than 1,200 solid plate MLB plate appearances to his name. You do realize there is probably a pretty big fallacy in that, don't you?
  15. Hiura is going to be starting in 2021 ... whether it be for the Brewers, or some other team.
  16. Is your projection system basically limited to players' time with the Brewers? It sounds like it is more limited than that ... to only 2020 pandemic season numbers, and also whether he particularly likes them or not.
  17. The offense is going to be crap if Yelich and Hiura don't hit. Simple as that. No free agent was going to make this a good offense if those two don't rebound. A move like this solidifies the notion that those guys need to hit like they are capable of if this team is going to have any success.
  18. Wow, by that definition, does WAR only exist in some type of black hole or alternate reality? Because my brain is folding on top of itself trying to make sense of this comment.
  19. To play devil's advocate, the people complaining about the front office not doing anything are likely not the same people complaining about the Wong signing. The whining does tend to create collective background noise, though, so I get it. And I was one of those whiners about the lack of activity earlier this week, so throw me on the pile.
  20. I'm just hoping that this will perhaps limit the "Brewers don't spend any money" and the "Brewers only dumpster dive" or "only shop in the Bargain Basement" posts for a few days.
  21. I would guess Small or Ashby, and perhaps someone like Je'von Ward.
  22. I think it was pretty obvious that, given the financial limitations, the Brewers are not going to be able to sign players without some warts to their overall game.
  23. Yelich and his Tebow arm can go play 1B. He was a regular 1B in HS.
  24. Kolten Wong has career .855 OPS at American Family Field. That seems good.
  25. Yet another case of Stearns zagging when we're all thinking zig. This came completely out of nowhere! I do like that it hurts the Cardinals too.
