  1. 2 years, $18 million, with a 3rd year team option. Could be 3 years, $26 million if option is exercised.
  2. Morosi reporting the Brewers have signed Wong!
  3. Makes me wonder if Hiura is on the block? I remember talk that there were quite a few teams inquiring at the trade deadline.
  4. Several sources on Twitter saying the Brewers are looking at Rich Hill as well. That would be an interesting signing, especially with so many tough lefty bats in the NL Central.
  5. Saints hired Richard as their new secondary coach yesterday, so it likely isn't going to be him.
  6. I'm guessing it's due to his age more than anything, as he'll be 27 in July. I'm sure they want to get a good look at him to see if he is a potential arm that can be fast tracked for the pen.
  7. I get that Puig has kind of odd reverse splits, but it would still be weird to have two RHH OFers in a strict platoon.
  8. That's what I'm thinking. There's no way they figure it out after completely botching it from day 1 of their ownership of these stations. I really hope the Brewers get out from under that terrible company. I would think something will be announced relatively soon.
  9. The pandemic is still going on. There's no guarantee fans are even going to be able to get into the stadium for awhile. I don't think anyone is "making up" anything. The Brewers are far from the only MLB team that has failed to attack the off-season.
  10. I totally forgot that the Brewers acquired McKinney. I know he has some experience at 1B, but it's only about 25 innings total in his MLB career. He was certainly a well thought-of prospect at one point, though. He'll be an interesting one to watch this spring.
  11. It's a longshot flyer. Absolutely no one is expecting him to be #3 in the 2021 rotation. I know just sick of these minor league deals and yes I know they need to made for depth reasons but come on Stearns, WE HAVE GLARING HOLES AT 3B AND 1B!! Signing Nathan Patterson (who will likely be pitching in Appleton) is going to have absolutely no bearing on filling holes on the major league roster.

  13. How much more proof do we need that the trade simulator is trash?
  14. Well they just signed Nathan Patterson to a minor league contract. That's a cheap pitcher. Who the hell is Nathan Patterson? I've never heard of this guy. Google is your friend: https://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/for-petes-sake/article233624182.html
  15. The Cardinals might have the worst projected OF (Fowler, Carlson, Bader) in the National League. Actually, other than Goldschmidt and Arenado, there isn't much to fear in that lineup. But they are the Cardinals, so they'll find a way. They always find a way.
  16. Brewers announce the signing of RP Nathan Patterson Of course, Patterson is known as the fan who was "discovered" after throwing 90+ mph at a pitching machine booth at a Nashville Sounds game a few years back. Rob Friedman (of Pitching Ninja) touted him, and he eventually got a minor league deal with the A's The A's released him in November. Interesting signing.
  17. There are a few players left on the free agent market who could likely be signed to relatively inexpensive short-term deals to fill holes for this team. Here are a few I like: 1. 3B-INF Marwin Gonzalez - I was interested in him last year, but he ended up going to the Twins. He did not have a good COVID season, but he checks off a lot of potential boxes for the Brewers, as he's a switch hitter with positional versatility. He is going into his age 32 season, so you hope for an offensive rebound. Im guessing he could be had on a one-year deal for roughly $4 million. 2. OF Josh Reddick - As a 4th OFer and pinch hitter, you want a guy that puts the ball in play, and doesn't strike out at a 30+% clip. Reddick is hopefully an upgrade on Ben Gamel that could likely be had for around the same money. 3. SP Jordan Zimmermann - Homer pick. But as a minor league deal flyer, why not bring him in and see if he's got anything left?
  18. Exactly. Badgers are eventually going to lose him, likely sooner rather than later. If he doesn't leave for an NFL job, he's going to get college HC opportunities. He's getting the most traction it seems on social media, but I wonder how much of that is his bonafides versus the casual fan "OMG former Badger Wisconsin native" factor. He has has legit good defenses the last several years in Madison, so if they determine that he's a good fit with the coaching staff, why not? Losing him as the Badgers DC isn't going to bother me. They have a good group coming back, and should still be a very solid defense.
  19. They didn't non-tender Gyorko, they just didn't exercise the team option on his contract. Judging by the lack of activity on him, I doubt many teams are beating down the door to sign him, despite his solid showing with the Brewers last year. I imagine that he's still under consideration for the Brewers.
  20. Nunez was non-tendered. I don't know if a Nunez/Franco combo is necessarily ideal, but it would be much more exciting than the Eric Sogard/Brock Holt/Justin Smoak combo from last year, simply because we're talking about younger players that still have some theoretical upside.
  21. If Arenado turns into the next Evan Longoria, that would make me quite happy.
  22. Not really. When these positions pop up, it's rather normal that Fangraphs posts a link. I often go and read them. Minor League hitting coordinators are no longer "a second set of experienced eyes" to help hitting instructors, it's very much become a "attached sensors to hitters, collect data, compile data and let's see if we can identify flaws using all the available technology available" position. I'm sure the qualifications are different for every team. To me, this sounds like a catchy title for someone who will be instrumental in the team's analytics department. Like I said ... if the team starts hitting better at these different levels, no one is going to care about her lack of experience.
  23. This is a newly-created position, so it is impossible to find qualifications without actually seeing the job posting. But ask me in a few years. If our hitters at the MLB level start performing better, and we develop some hitters in the minors that can come up and provide value, then she's good at her job.
  24. I think we will get a couple moves this week. Probably sign a couple infielders like Jedd Gyorko and Greg Garcia. I get Gyorko, but why Garcia? I don't see anything in his numbers that indicates he isn't anything other than another perhaps less versatile Jace Peterson.
  25. Already talk of delaying the start of the season a month. Do they really think that 30 days is going to make a huge difference on the vaccine rollout? I hope the Players Association doesn't let them delay, because if they do, I fear we are just going to have a repeat of last year, with a farce of a tiny season that doesn't begin until mid summer.
