  1. Reds had the bases loaded with one out ... and the Braves got out of it. Now the Braves are threatening.
  2. Jesus just hit a 2-run HR off of Jeffress! The Jeffress postseason curse continues.
  3. I wonder what the postseason record for strikeouts in a single postseason game is? Reds/Braves are up to 35 going into the 13th. Edit: According to Buster Olney, it is a new single-game record. Up to 36 now.
  4. Galvis just struck out on 4 pitches without taking the bat off his shoulder with runners on 2nd and 3rd. Good to know that the Brewers aren't the only offense that struggles in big spots. So much for the Reds' offensive resurgence.
  5. Matzek is a rough matchup for Moose, and it showed.
  6. Whatever happens, we get at least two more games of Brewers baseball this year. Considering where we were in early July, when it appeared as though we may not get any baseball this year, I'll take all the Brewers I can get. Hopefully the bats wake up, and we're talking about Burnes and Williams coming back by this weekend.
  7. It would be interesting to know who is on the taxi squad. Been confirmed that Mathias and Zach Brown are already. Devin Williams would be on that list as well. Would imagine Lauer, Feyereisen, Perdomo, Bickford, Wahl, McKinney and Keon Broxton too.
  8. So appears to be a very similar situation to what the Cubs did a few years ago with Theo and Jed Hoyer. I would imagine that Stearns and Arnold would still work in tandem on player acquisitions, with Stearns taking on more responsibility on the business side.
  9. How much do you guys trust Houser in a late-inning relief role? Obviously the history is there. One of these games may just come down to that.
  10. According to Haudricourt, it’s not a serious injury. But yeah, anything with the shoulder is always concerning. I did find it a bit odd that he didn't throw his change-up hardly at all in his last outing.
  11. Only 3 lefties against a lineup that is substantially worse against lefty pitching is an odd choice. They did load up on the inconsistent power righties, though, with Rasmussen, Topa and Black. That is a lot of heat, but also potentially a lot of very straight fastballs that can leave the park in a hurry.
  12. What a complete and utter disaster So, basically, the Brewers have lost their top starter and top reliever just prior to the playoffs. Yeesh!
  13. this taxi squad will not be made public. please report here on this thread if you happen to see video or a photo of a player in los angeles that isn't part of the soon-to-be announced 28-man wild card series roster. As reported in the Minor League thread, Zach Brown is in LA as a member of the taxi squad.
  14. Lauer's past success vs Dodgers is why it's coming up. I think that's underselling it a little. The guy has been nails in what is a pretty solid sample size against the Dodgers. Granted this is a different situation in many ways, but there is logic to the idea.
  15. I think Anderson will pitch in game 3, and then it depends on who is available if he is ineffective. I understand why guys get time off in the regular season for blisters, but seriously....in an elimination game I'd think if he's getting outs/making good pitches he can pitch thru blisters. If not, then pull him early. The problem with "pitching through" blisters is that they often affect a pitcher's grip on the ball, which throws off command. Given that Anderson throws junk, if he doesn't have his command, he's toast. I've heard of pitchers "fixing" blisters with super glue, but not sure how effective that is.
  16. There is literally no one saying this in this thread, and there is plenty of evidence to back up the idea that they do have a substantial positive effect in minimizing spread.
  17. +2,367 ... which isn't nearly as bad as I had thought it would be. I mean, still terrible, but not catastrophic.
  18. Could have the Titans and Steelers play Week 7, and move the Steelers/Ravens game originally scheduled for Week 7 to Week 8, where both teams have their bye. Ravens would have their bye Week 7 then. Titans and Steelers would effectively have their bye this week.
