  1. He probably had four fingers on it already. Wonder if there's ever been a Cy Young winner who was entering free agency two years in a row before? Cole got a massive deal out of the Yankees, and I predict Bauer will be a Yankee as well next year. Monopoly money.
  2. Yeah, they aren't going to re-sign him. So they are going to run his arm into the ground. Might as well call that being Sabathia'd
  3. ... and there's the dominant, shut-down inning from Knebel I talked about earlier LOL. That sure would have been nice a couple innings ago I think it might be time to take Knebel's training wheels off for this weekend. Five games in four days, they are going to need him in high leverage spots. We can't keep tossing Claudio and Yardley out there in those spots.
  4. Dumping him when they did was confusing at the time, and it continues to be. I think there must be something more to the story. I wonder if it was a case of him just never feeling comfortable here? Or something along those lines? We forget that these guys are human, and sometimes the fit just doesn't work for whatever reason. Of course, that is complete speculation.
  5. I was thinking about that earlier today actually. Cain looked very good in the few games he played before opting out. I think there's a solid chance he would have rebounded substantially from his down 2019 offensive year.
  6. Bauer obviously tweaked something. He's pitching on short rest, and you are up 6-1. It is criminal that he's still in this game. Terrible decision making by the Reds.
  7. Contreras and Biaz. Wainright. Also pretty much every punch and judy hitter from the Pirates who has given the Brewers fits over the years.
  8. He knows he has a DH and won’t be held to account. He's one of those guys you love if he's on your team, and hate if he isn't.
  9. His managing had been cookie cutter vanilla awful, but it isn't really his fault that Hiura and Yelich have been dumpster fires.
  10. Because lineups are based on match-ups, not who had one good swing the day before. I'm not sure if Jace Peterson's 2 hits in 3 career at-bats against Bauer is enough to base that on, but ok. Peterson isn't terrible I guess.
  11. Exactly. For all the complaining over not reupping Mike Moustakas, he has put up 6 HRs, a .228 average and a .781 OPS. This at 32 years old on the first year of a 4-year, $64 million contract. Jedd Gyorko, on the other hand, has put up 9 HRs, a .273 average and a .932 OPS. He's two weeks younger than Moustakas, and signed a 1-year, $2 million deal with a $4.5 million club option the team would be idiots not to exercise. Is Gyorko a bit of a crap shoot for next year? Perhaps. But other than his terrible, injury-riddled year last year, he's been pretty consistently average. I'm much more comfortable paying Gyorko $4.5 million in 2021 than paying Moose $16 million, provided that funds are allocated to other areas of need on the roster.
  12. CF García LF Yelich 1B Gyorko DH Vogelbach 2B Hiura RF Peterson SS Arcia 3B Sogard C Nottingham Not exactly the '27 Yankees. Disappointing that Braun isn't in the lineup in what is an extremely important game. Hopefully he'll be in the lineup for 4 of 5 this weekend (not expecting him to play in both double header games Friday). Also not sure why Peterson is getting the start over Taylor after Taylor hit a bomb yesterday.
  13. All he needed was a new hitting coach!
  14. I'd hold off on McKinnon for now. Jeff Wilson may be splitting carries with him. https://www.rotoworld.com/football/nfl/player-news/headlines/9776166?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Gross. Thanks for the info. I'll likely roll with Edelman. He looks like he's still the same guy with Cam as he was with Brady. Don't sleep on Robby Anderson, though. He's been a target monster through the first two weeks, and that isn't going to change with McCaffery going on the shelf.
  15. This is 100% correct, and has even gotten worse in recent years, as many companies have stopped differentiating between "sick time" and "vacation time". It may look trivial, but it actually disincentivizes people from actually staying home when they are ill, so they don't burn their valuable vacation time. Corporate America sucks sometimes.
  16. Think Suter is lined up to pitch Friday.....doubt we see him tonight. I so want to see some crazy, outside-the-box stuff. Counsell has been so "by the book" this year. It's time to get crazy. Heck, they can start Peralta on Friday. Lets see some originality and excitement. It's time.
  17. Kwik Trip chooses to ignore the mask mandate all together. They have big signs on their doors saying MASK REQUIRED to enter, but more than half of their customers do not wear a mask. I asked an employee why that was the case, she told me that employees are not allowed to say anything to the non mask wearing customers. Granted, I stop in frequently between 6:30 and 7:30 am, and the majority of their customers at that time are blue collar working type young men who I am sure don't want the inconvenience of having to throw a mask on to stop in the store for their Monster/energy drinks, cigarettes, and chew. That and they are probably just giving a giant middle finger to being told what they have to do. Again, I don't like wearing a mask, but it is for the greater good, so I do it. It's irritating that so many ignore the mandate in such a close public place, but that is just how Kwik Trip rolls. Kwik Trip is Gutless. Also ironic and somewhat irritating that many of the people ignoring the mask mandate are also those who are arguing "but I thought masks work" when the positive case numbers spike. I get the feeling those people were always extremely selfish, but that selfishness is now on display like a scarlet letter.
  18. It was! I know it is extremely improbable, but I'll never stop hoping for a Central Division title until it's mathematically impossible. The Cubs have three against the White Sox this weekend, so dropping all three isn't out of the realm of possibility. Dropping the next two to the Pirates probably is, though. As is the Brewers winning their last 6. But stranger things have happened.
  19. He actually seems better at 1B than I figured he'd be. He's far from the ideal body type you want there, but for how big he is, he's pretty nimble and has quick reflexes.
