  1. I'm surprised he doesn't have "Drinking PBR with my Phi Beta Kappa bros" in there. Is his name Chad or Trent? I don't see how he could be any other name.
  2. Is every team guilty of stealing signs? Yeah, probably. Does every team have a complicated system of video interpretation and trash can Morse code set up to utilize those stolen signs? I'm gonna have to go with no on that. I get that you are an Astros fan, so you have a different perspective on this than most of the rest of us, but the statement that "every team is doing it" is a massive overgeneralization.
  3. Trevor Bauer says that it is well known in MLB that Trout has an HGH prescription due to an imbalance caused by a thyroid issue. Players don't care. I know Bauer is kind of a worm, but I see no reason not to believe him in this case.
  4. I don't think that Clayton Andrews and Quentin Torres-Costa are ever going to have any bearing on the Brewers' decision to trade Josh Hader. That's like comparing a porterhouse to beef jerky.
  5. Just because people don't think it's going to happen doesn't mean that it can't happen. We're all just making predictions after all. It can be assumed that if they deal Hader at the deadline, it's because the the moves didn't work. But it could also mean that they suffered injuries to core players like Yelich, Hiura or Woodruff. I'm not real sure what you are trying to do here, other than kind of make an "I told you so" post before anything actually happens
  6. Obviously? I wouldn't go that far. To me, it is obviously a wire taped down. It doesn't even look debatable. For a necklace, it's too thin. The tape is skin tone, which would make sense, all the better to hide it. It isn't skin tone. It's gold. Look at some of the other photos. It is 100% obvious when you see the additional pics. Pretty solid evidence:
  7. I think of all the chain pizza places, though, nothing holds a candle to the absolute terribleness of Papa John's. Cardboard chewy crust and overly sugary sauce. Gross. Dominoes and Pizza Hut are marginally better. Little Caesars and Topper's above them. I'd grab a Papa Murphy's pie over any of those.
  8. Why would a buzzer need wires? LOL There would be absolutely no reason to wear a wire to operate wireless technology. The photos of Bergman are pretty obviously confetti and his necklace.
  9. Yeah that's not what Middleton criticism is at all. Thinking Middleton is not necessarily the 2nd best player on the team and somewhat overpayed at 35M per is a defense mechanism in case they don't win an NBA title? Okay. That wasn't necessarily directed at you. More of a general observation. You certainly aren't the only one with that sort of criticism lately. It's the same as many fans of the Packers and Brewers. If you buy in completely, then it hurts more when they disappoint. Which is totally fine ... there is no right or wrong way to be a fan.
  10. That is unfortunately just the way a lot of Wisconsin sports fans are. They are conditioned to find fault and overemphasize the negative. It is a defense mechanism in a way that somewhat insulates them against disappointment if the team doesn't win a championship.
  11. Call it a hunch, but I'd be willing to bet that Sanchez is better than Walker this year.
  12. If the team is struggling at the All-Star break, and there is no hope in sight, and the additions haven't been good, then I think there would be some reason to be mad that they didn't do more this offseason. Getting mad now, though, as akin to yelling at a cloud. I've said several times that the Reds suck until they prove they don't suck. Likewise, the Brewers are a contender until they prove they aren't. Stearns has at least earned that.
  13. You didn't think Rendon, or Cole or Strasburg were needle movers?? Not if you are trying to make a decision based on any sort of realism.
  14. That depends. Can we declare Milwaukee an "Cheating Astros Sanctuary City"?
  15. How do you know that he hasn't already donated that money to some charity? These guys don't always crave photo ops when they make charitable donations. Also, who knows where his ring is, or how he feels about it?
  16. Opportunistic? What is Fiers gonna get out of this? He's never struck me as the type of guy who seeks out drama. I think it's entirely possible that this has been weighing on his conscience for a while, to the point where he couldn't stand to keep it in any longer. I saw something earlier that said that the Mets firing Beltran today was indirectly their fault for Sandy Alderson getting cold feet on the Gomez deal years ago, as Fiers likely wouldn't have ended up in Houston had that deal gone through. Thought that was pretty funny. What is Fiers getting out of this? Everyone talking about him. Since when does being a social pariah have value? He obviously has a lot of people in his corner, but also many others, such as yourself, that think he's trash. I don't know what type of person would want that for themselves?

  18. LOL, you don't say! Yep, doom and gloom is right. January is the time to overthink things and see the worst. Perhaps once the weather starts warming up, so will the moods. 'Tis the season.
  19. Considering the train wreck-level results we saw from 3/5ths of the rotation (Burnes, Peralta and Chacin) for a large portion of the season, "dreadful" would likely be an improvement. I'd be extremely surprised if Lindblom, Lauer and Anderson aren't significantly better than those three. What might be tougher is picking up the slack from not having the solid work of Davies, Anderson, Lyles and Gonzalez. The Brewers definitely need to address the lack of solid depth in the starting pitching department for 2020.
  20. (Mets employee) Jessica Mendoza making the rounds this morning to bash Mike Fiers, going with the "snitches get stitches" idea, certainly isn't a good look.
  21. If that is the kind of package the Brewers are looking at for Hader, I'd just keep Hader. Graterol has some nice upside, but a pitcher pushing 270 pounds as a 21-year-old is extremely scary. Rooker is a intriguing power prospect, but that K% is scary. Littell has the look of a back-end starter/long man. Celestino might be a future solid CF (his defense certainly plays), but he hasn't done a whole lot with the bat yet. He's only 20, though, so is probably 2-3 years away.
  22. I don't think that would matter when you're talking about trading for one of the top relievers in the majors. The Brewers love Hader. We need to stop thinking about the prospective return for Hader being the other team's spare parts. The prospective return would, and should, sting for them.
  23. They will add depth in the starting pitching department likely this month and next. There are still a ton of guys out there available. The names who interest me on minor league deals or cheap major league deals include Danny Salazar, Dan Straily and Aaron Sanchez.
  24. The point is every player loses productivity as they age, and you never know when the bottom is going to drop out completely. I'm certainly not adverse to signing older players, and those type of guys can provide a lot of value. But the risk inevitably goes up as the years advance away from that prime 27-30 age range.
  25. Yelich has a longer list of injury history and will be 31 moving forward from his current contract. So why is Donaldson's bump in the road and age a concern, but not Yelich's? Yelich's best season to War sits 3rd for Donaldson. Because 3 years makes a huge difference when handing out long-term deals. To put it in perspective, Donaldson is only two years younger than Ryan Braun, who despite continuing to put up solid numbers, most everyone considers over the hill.
