    If he takes a normal path to home he is safe by a mile, that is all on Grandal. That is with a more or less perfect set of throws too, if the throws were even a tiny bit off he walks into home. can't blame Sedar for that. Yeah, you are probably right. I just thought with Grandal's lack of speed, some station-to-station might have been more appropriate. But yeah, he should have made it.

Says the poster who has repeatedly said how bad a pitching staff, this team has had all year, and that it’s been that pitching and not the offense that would keep this team from the playoffs. Yup. That wasn't wrong. This pitching staff has been very good in September. Before that they were mediocre at best.

    He was wrong to take out a starter you have repeatedly said you don't like, to go to our pen, which you have repeatedly said is the best in baseball, to a pitcher in Black you have repeatedly said has unhittable stuff? Sure. Simple. You couldn't make this stuff up if you tried!

    I've heard that if we tie the Cards and lose game 163 we will host the Nationals even if they have a better record. No, I don't believe that's correct. We can tie the Cards and if the Nats have a better record, they are still WC1. It's just that game 163 will have no bearing on WC standings.

    Nationals end their season with a Phillies team that has clearly given up, followed by an Indians team that looks like that as well. Things are going to be different come Tuesday when they face either the Brewers or Cardinals.

    SO let me get this straight. You are arguing that the Brewers didn't keep a pitcher you have repeated said you don't like in the game longer to justify your argument that Counsell made a poor managerial move. As the basis for your argument, you are saying that the win probability is too low in your mind if they had stuck with the pitcher you don't like. Do you realize how ludicrous your argument sounds like now? It's like you are creating an argument just to argue because you don't like this team's manager.

    This isn't directed at you, I'm replying to your post because you have the quote from Counsell. My question for some here and fans in general is, why does it require a quote in the paper explaining a move to calm yourselves down? When does someone get the benefit of the doubt? He's not making decisions via a Magic 8 ball. This team has 89 wins against 71 losses while outscoring opponents by 5 runs on the year. I think it's safe to say that Counsell manages in-game situations better than most if not all. Because it explains his mind set, which in this case is flawed, imo. I think we know already, without being told dozens or even hundreds of times, CC knows and fans don’t. But when he makes an egregious error, like yesterday, I’m not just gonna sit there quietly like Haudricourt or McCalvey or Murray or whoever, you know, to not ruffle any feathers. And if we’re being brutally honest with ourselves, how many of us would have pinch hit for Davies and put in black to start the sixth? Thought so. Managers have to take chances. Sometimes they work. Sometimes they don't work. Again, if they score in that PH spot, no one questions it. Why is that so difficult for you to comprehend? You do not know more than the Brewers' manager! Haudricourt, McCalvy and Murray didn't push it because they are smart enough to understand why Counsell did it.

If the Brewers score there, it's a great move. I'm not saying that Counsell is above criticism. But burning him for this move is undeserved.

    Peralta has been fine. He's not overwhelmingly dominant. You have this habit of taking something good, putting it in your mouth, chewing it up, and spitting it out, then expecting everyone to call it great. You overblow things constantly, and get mad when people don't jump on your pie in the sky bandwagon. BC92, I appreciate your optimism. I really do. The board doesn't have enough of it most nights. But when you continue to post these completely over-the-top thoughts, even the most optimistic of us get annoyed. I've told you this before, but I think if just toned it down on the over the top claims, and perhaps lessened the combativeness a tad when others disagree with your takes, you'd have a lot more fun here, and posters would take you more seriously.

    He seemed pretty optimistic when interviewed in the clubhouse after the game. Said it feels better now than it did when he was pulled. Doubt he's in the lineup tomorrow either way, though.
